We strive to provide open, honest, and unbiased information about the insurance products and services we review. Our hard-working team of data analysts, insurance experts, insurance agents, editors and writers, has put in thousands of hours of research to create the content found on our site.

We do receive compensation when a sale or referral occurs from many of the insurance providers and marketing partners on our site. But it does not influence our meticulously researched editorial content, what we write about, or any reviews or recommendations we may make. We do not guarantee favorable reviews or any coverage at all in exchange for compensation.

Why you can trust Insurify: Insurify’s expert insurance writers and editors operate independently of our insurance partners. What Makes a Driver High-Risk in Tennessee?

With thousands of customers currently covered and new drivers being insured every day, auto insurance companies must have a way to categorize motorists. One way they do this is by assigning a risk rating to each driver. While some risk is OK, drivers who are considered high-risk tend to face increased premiums.

Typically, to be classified as a high-risk driver in Tennessee, your driving record has to have several violations on it. These could include speeding, reckless driving, numerous at-fault accidents, or being convicted of a DUI. Having any of these on your record increases the chances of being labeled high-risk and paying more for coverage. However, there are several insurance providers who still offer affordable rates.
