We do not guarantee favorable reviews or any coverage at all in exchange for compensation.

NR

Grange offers auto insurance through its partner company, Integrity Insurance. Compared to companies of a similar size, like Erie, COUNTRY Financial, American Family, and GAINSCO, Grange Insurance has benefits and drawbacks.

Grange is relatively small and only offers coverage in 13 states, which is less than its competitors. The company’s rates are comparable to its competitors, and it has an AM Best financial strength rating of A (Excellent) which is inline with it's competitors. The company has a fairly low score of 832 from a 2022 J.D. Power study on customer satisfaction, but it ranks higher than American Family and COUNTRY Financial.[3] It hasn't been featured in recent J.D. Power studies, so it's important to read customer reviews to get an accurate view of the customer claim satisfaction.

Grange has a high BBB rating for customer service, and its discounts and availability are similar to those of other companies.[1]

Auto Insurance - Another Consumer Concern

It's okay. They wouldn't allow me to remove my disabled, unlicensed wife from the policy to save money. I drive less than 100 miles weekly, but I'm still charged at standard rates. All providers seem to charge a lot. Unfortunately, the system doesn't provide a premium break for substantially reduced risk. It's disappointing.

  • Our editorial team spent 350 hours developing the Insurify Quality (IQ) Score and scoring insurance companies. The IQ Score objectively analyzes and calculates a score for insurers using more than 15 crucial criteria. Criteria are weighted by importance to the consumer — factors such as customer reviews and affordability influence the score more than availability and third-party ratings.

We rate each company on a 1-to-5 scale based on five categories: financial ratings, customer satisfaction, affordability, customer support and transparency, and availability. We update ratings once a year or as more recent information becomes available.

    • Third-party financial ratings: We use data from AM Best, S&P, Moody’s, and more to compare insurance companies’ credit and ability to pay out future claims.

    • Customer satisfaction: To calculate this score, Insurify analyzed more than 28,000 customer reviews across 155 car insurance companies. We also considered third-party ratings from J.D. Power, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, and Trustpilot.

    • Affordability: Our data scientists analyzed more than 90 million real-time auto insurance rates from our partners across the U.S., as well as available discounts, to calculate an affordability score.

    • Customer support and transparency: This measures coverage options, ease of claims filing, and the insurer’s transparency surrounding discounts, coverages, and claims process.

    • Availability and reach: Insurify identified the number of states in which insurers offer coverage and company size by market share to score availability and reach.

Average cost of Grange auto insurance

Drivers with clean records typically secure the cheapest rates. In contrast, drivers with an incident on their record, such as a speeding ticket, an at-fault accident, or a DUI, experience higher rates. Insurance companies consider high-risk drivers as more likely to file a claim and charge higher rates to make up for the possible financial loss.

In addition to driving record, age can also affect rates. Teen drivers pay high rates because they’re more likely to engage in risky driving behaviors and have less experience. Senior drivers pay the lowest rates because they have the most experience.

The table below illustrates how Grange’s liability rates compare to the national average liability rates for various driver profiles.

Driver
Grange Average Liability Quote
National Liability Average
Drivers with a clean record$83$105
Drivers with a speeding ticket$118$146
Drivers with an at-fault accident$123$152
Drivers with a DUI$139$173
Teen drivers$144$196
Senior drivers$61$81

Grange car insurance cost by state

The cost of car insurance varies depending on several factors, including your location, because any risks associated with your ZIP code affect your rates. So, if you live in an area your insurer considers high-risk, you’ll pay more for auto insurance.

Fortunately, you can take steps to lower your insurance premiums. For example, parking in a covered garage instead of on the street, or using anti-theft equipment, can help lower car insurance costs.

Below is the average monthly liability rate for some of the 13 states Grange operates in and the state average. In general, Grange offers affordable rates for the states it operates in.

Methodology

Insurify data scientists analyzed more than 90 million quotes served to car insurance applicants in Insurify’s proprietary database to calculate the premium averages displayed on this page. These premiums are real quotes that come directly from Insurify’s 50+ partner insurance companies in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Quote averages represent the median price for a quote across the given coverage level, driver subset, and geographic area.

Unless otherwise specified, quoted rates reflect the average cost for drivers between 20 and 70 years old with a clean driving record and average or better credit (a credit score of 600 or higher).

Liability-only premium averages correspond to policies with the following coverage limits:

  • Bodily injury limits between state-minimum rates and $50,000 per person, $100,000 per accident
  • Property damage limits between $10,000 and $50,000
  • No additional coverage
Full-coverage premium averages correspond to the same bodily injury and property damage limits in addition to:
  • Comprehensive coverage with a $1,000 deductible
  • Collision coverage with a $1,000 deductible

Quotes for Allstate, Farmers, GEICO, State Farm, and USAA are estimates based on Quadrant Information Services’ database of auto insurance rates.
