Worst Company ever , Don't even think about dealing with them ,Service is bad communication is worse and when you cancel your policy with them is even worse it's not easy to get rid of them unless you loose money , I canceled my policy and they charged me after 2 months from cancelation claiming it's a prorated amount even they charged me a prorated amount in the first month of cancelation .

They won't accept this review without me giving at least one star. IF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD. Be careful. This company expects you to pay for their renewal mistakes . I will never recommend State Auto. I've never dealt with such a ridiculous auto insurance company.

I gave them 5 starts for customer service. I called them asking for help because the insurance service agency that was suppose to cancel my policy for me did not and I was about to get charged for a service that I was no longer having and this nice lady, Jessica , helped me all the way through . Thanks

STATE AUTO IS THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY I'VE EVER DEALT WITH. My insurance bill went from around $250 to $550 and that was during the pandemic! I shopped around and found way better rates with Geico. I was only half way thru the month so I should have been prorated most of that back, plus I had just paid $160 for renters insurance. THEY ONLY GAVE ME $88 back. I did some rough calculations and I should have gotten around $450 back. They customer service is terrible. Was on hold for 20min just for them to tell me my refund review is still "under review" I was told it would only take 5-7 business days its been 13. I would never recommend anyone to use their services.
This is not my first review of a ridiculous company. I believe at this point they are self sabotaging so they can file bankruptcy. I was a loyal faithful customer who always paid the bill on time. However when I bill went from $98 to $298 a month for no good reason I lost it. The excuse was “it’s because of where I live” lol wait this is the same address I had when I signed up with this company. I’m not going to go into the horrible things this company did because I did get back most of the $298. They thought oh here’s an old lady we can gouge, truly tried to hustle an older woman. It’s sad because they probably had a good company when they began. My guess is that this company will now try to milk the government. Greed is a sickness ~ I gave 2 stars because I did get money back. They should gotten 1 for trying to gouge me and left me helpless on the side of the road when I got a flat tire no one ever came. I hope the government does not give these GONIFS a penny
The worst car insurance company i have ever had to deal with. I switched to bundle with my home insurance, and that part fine but when it came to the vehicles forget it. They can’t ever give information on your policy you must call another place for agent witch I always had to hold for 30min or more, also they both gave misinformation on a rental coverage that cost us $275. When i went cancel the insurance they said we would receive money back and ended up paying more. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!!

By Michigan State law they should of paid out the Mini Tort. I was in an accident and one of their driver's hit me and I wasn't even moving. Totaled my car. But they made up excuses not to pay out, wouldn't return my phone calls and were shitty on the phone. Horrible customer service and horrible people. Insurance buyers beware.
Horrible rates, and customer service. Dropped them after my rate went up $22 during the pandemic. They are offering a discount NEXT YEAR, or in 2021, not now during Covid, or when so many of us are out of work and having financial hardships.
I wish I could give a zero star review. They were very unhelpful during pandemic and wouldn’t put my account on hold due to them having problems getting my account number right in my card. They were to blame and then punished me during COVID19. Will be switching my insurance and never coming back to them
Absolutely horrible insurance company, was hit by one of their clients on 4-12-20, was told once all information was provided that my car would be fixed only to have to fight with them for over a month, just to be told sorry we dont have enough information from our client to fix your car. So that's fine everyday i will post a review about this piece of shit comany until my car is fix.
