Always very happy if their pront response and always looking after their clients Unfortunately I had the accidents but, I hope to one day go back to Mercury. Best company I got ever. Thanks so much for everything!

Most Critical Review

We had no claims at all and yet our rate went up more than what we'd pay with a new company. Also, the reason we looked into a new company to begin with, was all the payment trouble with Mercury. We gave them all the bank account information they asked for over the phone, to automatically take payments from the account monthly. They sent us a notification saying everything was verified and we were good to go. Then, when our payment time came up the next month, we heard from them a week later saying we had to pay all kinds of extra fee's or they'd cancel our insurance. We called them to find out why and they said the bank account # they had was wrong. Clearly they took it down incorrectly over the phone and didn't actually verify it; as they'd said. In trying to get them to remove the fees and get it straightened out, some of the reps we encountered were extremely rude; and they never removed all the fees. Then, they said it could no longer be automatic and we'd have to pay another way monthly. After a couple months of that, we found that we could just pay the Full amount all at once. We had NEVER been offered this option before, or that is what we would have done from the beginning and avoided all the trouble. The big reason we didn't stay with them, was that they were so rude about something that was their mistake and we weren't told about all of our payment options up front.

They Lot most Car insurance companies , will triple your rates if you get into an Accident . Thank GOD for other insurance groups .
They really didnt do anything but take my money, because I didnt make any claim, but you can say that about any insurance company. But what I didnt like is that they were going to raise my premium $400.00 in one year when I only have 5,600 miles on my car and I have had a perfect driving record since 93.
good ins. but spokes people not so helpful
they allow a spouse to stealthily remove the vehicle from the policy (during a very contentious separation) and NOT NOTIFY the (not even) Spouse? I got 24 hrs notice at the end of last Thursday from my X. Bud Smith the agent should never have let this happen.
They over charged on my next 6moths payment insurance !!!

In November of 2017 we had a family member come over trying to sell us life insurance through Primerica. If you know Randy he is a good guy. He was contacted numerous times by this person and finally decided to have them come talk to us. During the meeting we knew that we did not need the life coverage they were selling, but at the end they mentioned how they could possible lower our car and homeowners insurance. We were able to lower both by about $50 a month so we switched, even though we were happy with our current insurance. Again, Randy is a good guy wanting to do something for his family member. When we switched, our old and new insurances did not overlap and we had a day with no insurance; I did not know. Nevada DMV has a no grace period policy. DMV sent me a letter stating we did not have insurance. I responded to the letter stating that we did have insurance and gave them the policy numbers for both the old and new policies, not realizing there was actually a day we did not have insurance. DMV sent the exact same letter a few days later certified, so again I wrote back that we did have insurance. DMV did not contact me again. I thought everything was ok, but when I went to register our vehicles in June of 2018 the registration was suspended. I had no idea. I contacted the DMV and they let me know there was a day lapse and they have a no grace period policy. We had a pretty good relationship with our old insurance agent so I contacted them and asked if there was something they could do. The old insurance company said no, because we switched from them, but our new insurance should be able to back date the insurance by a day. I contacted Mercury, my new insurance company and asked them if there was something they could do. They said no, that is was too old to back date it. I complained to the DMV because if I would have known the registration was suspended I could have contacted Mercury way sooner and they would have been able to back date it a day. DMV just said on the certified letter it stated your registration will be suspended if you do not provide proof of insurance. Again, I thought I did have insurance. We had to pay $250 per vehicle to get the suspension lifted. It was a pretty expensive mistake, but you learn from your mistakes, right? I should have known at that moment that Mercury is the worst company! Let’s fast forward to March of 2019. I started getting a regular paycheck again. I was catching up on bills, trying to get used to getting paid twice monthly. I had a few bills automatically coming out of a credit card, but in March 2019 switched them over to my bank account. I went online to Mercury to switch the autopay to my bank account instead of a credit card. When I logged in it showed I had an amount due of double what I normally pay. We were also enrolled in paperless billing. I went through my email to see if they sent me anything showing what was going on with my account and nothing, so I contacted Mercury. They let me know they cancelled my policy because my credit card payment did not go through. I had no email, phone call or letter stating that my credit card payment did not go through. Mercury stated they sent two letters regular mail; one stated the payment did not go through and one stated the insurance was cancelled. I did not receive either letter and let Mercury know that. They told me if I can get something from the post office stating that the letters were not delivered they could fix the cancelled insurance. I contacted the post office and got an email stating they are sorry my mail was lost. I sent the email to Mercury. Mercury said that this is not proof they lost it, it just states they are sorry for the lost mail. I then asked Mercury why they would not send the declined payment and cancelled insurance via email when I am enrolled in paperless. The customer service rep told me they would have to call me back to see why. While I was waiting for my call back, I thought they would fix th
My auto policy went up $300 for 6 months, claiming my mileage increased when in fact it remains as always reported. The quotes directly from Mercury are low, but my agent says its wrong.
