Car insurance in Maryland is absolutely horrible. Many people in my community have registered their auto tags in Virginia where prices are more affordable.

Everything was great until they allowed me to go until June without realizing I hadn't paid February's bill. I had no idea I was behind, as far as I knew, I was caught up. Then, 3 months later, I received a bill with three late fees for three different times. They didn't bill me until 3 months later, and they didn't even inform me about February's bill until June. Other than that, they're really great with what they offer, like roadside assistance. I haven't seen the discount yet, but hopefully, it will be applied as they say.

They are good. I haven’t had to use them yet, but in the past 50 years, I had them for 38 years with no problem!

Get the lowest insurance rates you can and be mindful of increased rates every 6 months regardless of your driving record.

I have been with State Farm for 14 years. It's just that it's getting too expensive, so I'm looking at other options.

State Farm is best if you get to know your agent. The better that relationship is, the better the experience with the agency as a whole. For bundled insurance, they have some of the best rates. We saved extra so that we could raise our deductible, and we put the premium difference in a high-interest bank account, so that we can pay small claims.

I have no issues.

I missed a payment because I was taking care of an elderly lady who passed away. I didn't even realize I missed the payment because I also had to find another place to live, as I was living at her house. My whole world was turned upside down, and I was heartbroken from the loss. Now, I'm having trouble finding insurance because I missed a payment with State Farm. That's that, I guess.

I have been with State Farm for many, many years. I have checked all of the other companies that advertise that they will save me hundreds of dollars per year, and none of them have been able to do so.

After over 5 years with State Farm, I've decided to move on after my next term. This company did not treat me well. I used their app to update my new vehicle information, and they charged me $200. Their system changed my information without my permission. All I did was enter the new vehicle information, but the system altered my policy details, such as indicating I didn't own my home when I do. My agent couldn't help me. So, good for you, State Farm. You got me for $200, but you also lost a loyal customer.

I have been with State Farm for 6 years, and my premium increased exponentially through no fault of my own. They just hiked up my payment without any explanation. I have not received any traffic tickets or been involved in any accidents for many years. It's mind-boggling how I'm still sticking with State Farm.

Very difficult to get responses from the claims handler. I felt the only time I got responses was after complaining to the insurance agent about the lack of any response. The insurance agent, on the other hand, was very responsive.

The pricing is too high, and your "Drive and Save" program has been deceptive since its introduction a few years back. One day, my rate suddenly went up. When I called my agent, I was told to enroll in "Drive and Save" to get a discount off my current rate. How can I get a "discount" off my "regular" rate when my rate just went up? All "Drive and Save" would have done is reduce my rate to what it was before you raised it. I can actually save 40% with another provider unless you can match their rates and give me the minimum required state coverages. Your agents are great; they are friendly, professional, and quick to reply and adjust any policy requests. I highly rate them all 5 stars. Thank you.

My car policy was canceled after only 3 months because of the money my former insurance company paid out for an accident two years ago. I told the agent about my driving history and was issued a higher coverage than needed at my request, paid on time, and did the Drive Safe program. I even combined my home and car policy with this company. Too bad for them that my house policy follows me wherever I go. It was over $200 a month with the coverage I put on it.

My wife and I recently moved away from ST Farm after 45 years because their rates skyrocketed and their claims service was terrible. Our agent admitted to us that their rates were much more expensive to help cover the class action lawsuits.

With State Farm, there is no provision for a driver who drives very little, say 2,500 miles per year, but still has to pay top rates.

They are out of their minds offering that kind of coverage. If they want to compete with State Farm, they must provide better coverage with better prices.

I'm sick of the constant increases! My insurance goes up every renewal, with no accidents, no claims, and no tickets. It's frustrating. I've been with SF for over 7 years, and I'm looking for something better. I'm tired of being a good driver and being rewarded with higher premiums. It's ridiculous.

Need to reduce rates for lower mileage driven.

Great customer service from staff! However, there's a lack of consideration for lower rates for folks who have never had a wreck, low mileage use, no DUIs, etc. These are meaningful issues for consideration when calculating cost!

Not good in terms of price. They paid pretty fast when a tornado caused a tree to fall on my SUV with me in it. Totaled my SUV. Then proceeded to raise my premium almost 100% for a 76-year-old with 50 years of driving experience, with only 1 ticket EVER and 1 or 2 not-my-fault accidents in 50 years. I've had to give up some activities in order to afford it until I find a different policy.

Way too expensive. Customer service is severely lacking. No responses to messages and questions. Agents don’t care about anything except padding their pockets with undeserved commissions. Been with them for 20+ years and the rates are horrendous for good driving. The only way to get bigger discounts is to apply this device to your vehicle to monitor every single move while driving. I don’t need a babysitter device to prove my safety habits. Credit reports are used to determine rates and that's outrageous! So if your credit score is low, expect much higher rates. Sick and tired of paying high rates because of insurance agents needing their commissions.

I’ve been with State Farm since 1962. Just because I’m 83 does not mean I should be paying $80 a month for a car that doesn’t leave my carport but maybe once a month for 5 miles. That’s ridiculous. I have asked them many times about reducing my rate and all they tell me is, I’m getting the best rate possible. I don’t believe it.

They are way too expensive. I’ve been with them since 2002, never had a claim, and my insurance premium doubled.

The insurance is too expensive, and the prices keep going up with no discounts ever given for long-time customers. Additionally, there is poor communication when opening claims for my house roof, and I was denied full repair for a 20-year-old roof.

I've been with State Farm for a long time. They have added a bunch of rules, and you don't know what your payment is from month to month. They've made aggressive changes.

My insurance agent was not very approachable. Every time I called, he tried to move the conversation away from him and to another department. I did not feel appreciated or respected as a client. The claims department was excellent, and customer service was also great. They handled the case very professionally after our son was involved in an accident.

For seniors with an excellent driving record, this company offers cheaper insurance, especially for those with older cars.

I have not been satisfied with the price of my insurance ever since I purchased my Tesla. The customer service from my agent is sometimes good, but at other times it's not too good. For example, when I removed a red Dodge pickup truck from my policy, the red Chevrolet truck on my best friend's completely separate policy was removed instead. I clearly stated the red Dodge pickup, and she repeated it back to me, yet still removed the wrong vehicle from the wrong policy altogether. This has happened another time when one of my three Toyota Priuses was removed from the policy despite giving the VIN number for a different vehicle to be removed. Also, the new billing system they are using is horrible.

Not satisfied with a recent claim, a no-fault, only one I have had in 40 years, and they increased my insurance premium by $400 a year. No thank you, I will be shopping for something at a better price, possibly for seniors.

I spent hours on hold on the phone and spoke with multiple people who couldn't make a decision and had to talk to a manager. For what they charged, it was a terrible experience.

It is too high. I pay $166 a month, and I should not be paying more than $66 a month.

They keep trying to raise my rate. If I wasn't keeping an eye on what they take from my bank, I would be paying hundreds a month instead of $130, and that's still too much for a 14-year-old car with liability only. But they won't budge off what they charge, and I know there are better deals. There have to be better options than what I'm paying. That's why I'm looking for something else to compare it to or change over to.

I was with State Farm for 40 years and, as a faithful customer, I was disappointed by the high prices I was paying. When I contacted my agent to inform them that I was switching to another company, they seemed indifferent and did not ask what they could do to keep me with State Farm. There was no reaction.

They have good customer service, a nice app, and handled my claim easily. However, they are way overpriced.

I am a 67-year-old woman with no tickets, no DUI, no accidents, and still, I was charged $218.26 for a year. They don't help senior citizens at all, just like anyone else.

Based on my experience, State Farm practices a loss leader approach to get your business. They started me out with a low competitive rate to get my business and then hiked it up dramatically for no reason. I’m retired, I drive 10 or 15 miles a week, and I’ve had no violations, accidents, or anything else, and they raised my rate by 30%.

When you have a claim, they raise your insurance tremendously.

Mediocre. Everyone strives to provide subpar coverage for the most expensive premium. They won't take their time to customize the policy based on your needs (state mandates) and budget.

Check out other carriers and compare. Do this often. State Farm has always been a good insurer, but in recent years they seem to be having problems. They pulled out of Florida and seem to be having problems keeping the customer base they had developed. I hope they find their way to become a great company again.

High price, renewal went up $500.

I have had State Farm for about 30 years. This past January, we had an ice storm where trees fell on the house and on three vehicles. They would not cover anything on the claim I filed. I would not recommend them to anybody.

You can be with State Farm for 15 years for cars and home insurance, but when you have a claim, you will get 15 numbers and 15 people to deal with. Parts that are obviously damaged are not quoted, and you start with back and forth emails.

Watch their varying charges that change monthly. Some months I paid $255 and some months I paid $207 depending on their drive safe tracker use.

We have full coverage. They wouldn't pay for any repairs due to hail damage. The windshield was completely shattered and 4 out of the 5 lights were broken. They said it was totaled. We only bought the van 2 months ago. This company is disappointing.

I’ve been with State Farm for about 25 years. I have had no tickets or accidents, and never a DUI. In the last three years, my rates doubled, then dropped $40, then went back up $40. I feel that their rates, or maybe it’s just the agent I had, are way out of control. I canceled with them and went to another insurance company for $80 less per month and have better coverage.

State Farm has become expensive over the years. Even though my policy became cheaper, they canceled it by not renewing for the next quarterly cycle because they couldn't verify another driver on the policy for underwriting. However, the person doesn't own the vehicle—I do—so there was no reason to cancel me. Anyway, I was involved in a hit-and-run by another driver recently, and State Farm didn't give me a discount on the deductible. I also had to pay taxes on the rental car I had for a few days. So, I am through with them.
