State Farm… I thought it was a shame that they increased my premium after a no-fault accident and then weren’t honest about how much it was going to increase. So I had to drop them, and I didn’t like the way they took care of my claim. I was rear-ended by an asphalt truck driver, and it took forever to get the rental car, took forever to get the payout, and I had to communicate with them multiple times. I’m sick of it and probably won’t ever go back to State Farm.

Get the best value for your money. I was a faithful customer, always paid on time, and was rewarded with two price increases in a year. Why should I pay more for the same service?

Horrible. I got in an accident, and they couldn’t care less. It was the first one in my life. They seemed more worried about keeping their money than helping me.

Do not insure with State Farm. We faithfully paid our premium for 5 1/2 years. The one time they said our car was totaled, they failed to pay for the damage.

I barely drive my car due to gas prices. They say the reason for high insurance is that there are so many cars on the road, but I’m not on the road that much. My cost was $162.00 a month for full coverage. I removed some items from my coverage to bring the cost down, and the price is now $129.00.

I feel they’re quite expensive if you never need to file a claim. However, if you do have a claim, they’re pretty good at making things right.

I’d say if you’re my age, have no speeding tickets or violations, no DUIs, drive less than 25 miles a month, and have full coverage on a paid-off vehicle with 32,000 miles, please shop around.

I think they’re overpriced, even with bundling homeowners insurance and insuring three cars. No one on the policy has ever had an accident or filed a claim.

I’ve been a customer since I turned 16, and yes, State Farm is a bit pricey. But after all these years, they decided to cancel me because of a speeding ticket and an accident. State Farm is too expensive. It seems like every policy renewal increases by at least 15%. Gone are the days of going to your personal agent and their staff. Every time I asked a question, they either didn’t know the answer or it was word salad. The coverage is great, but it’s way too expensive. I’ve had insurance with State Farm on and off going back to the 1960s, and the amount they’re charging me for no more coverage than I get is too high. I have never caused a wreck or accident. Earlier this year, somebody hit me from behind—he looked up for a second. I’ve also had two deer run into my car. It wasn’t my fault, but it wasn’t covered. I thought older people might get some financial relief if they have low mileage per week and no claims, and could get a break on insurance costs. I haven’t seen one. I have no violations, tickets, etc. The staff is friendly.

State Farm was frustrating to deal with. It took them 25 days to approve my body shop to fix the car. Unacceptable.

They don’t take into account how long you’ve been with them. They never even try to give discounts. That’s why I’m shopping for insurance.

When I called my agent, she had no idea why it went up. I drive a 2015 Toyota Yaris with liability-only coverage in Boulder City, NV. My car is worth maybe $3,000, yet I’m paying over $100 a month. Make this make sense!

I’ve been a long-time client, and I haven’t been impressed. Monthly payments can swing quite a bit with no explanation. Customer service is lacking; they don’t make changes in a timely manner. They’ve been very frustrating to work with.

State Farm was repeatedly unresponsive, and they were five times more expensive.

Good insurance, but a bit too expensive. I don’t recommend the agency in Santa Fe. The agent was rarely in the office, and it seemed like staff were just there to keep the place running. In 11 years, I never got to talk to him until I had a claim when mice ate my fuel line. Then he called, woke me up, and was impatient and confrontational. Later, he argued about what they would pay for the mice/fuel line repair.

At the point of sale, my agent “treated me like a relative.” But after looking at my documents, several things bother me. His name isn’t on any of them—only the owner of that franchise is. I sent a message directly to my agent, and it’s been four days with no answer. To my surprise, my deductible amount is set at $1,000. Most surprising, we have the bare minimum coverage. That’s why I tried to reach my agent to see if he could help me. My agent also told me something that I’ve since discovered is untrue: that Allstate does not use your FICO/credit report when calculating your premiums. In reading my declarations page, it clearly says we do not have the lowest rate due to information from the credit report (it doesn’t say whose credit report). I’m disappointed—especially since I can’t find his name on the paperwork and I’m not able to get a hold of him through the direct number I was given. Along with my other discoveries, I chalk it up to just another slick sales tactic.
