It's been good so far.

It’s slightly high for the age of our vehicle.

Although my rate went down at renewal, I still feel their rates could be lower. I’m a senior citizen with an excellent driving record, and I’d really appreciate a lower rate. Also, I don’t drive nearly as much as I used to.

State Farm has great customer service. They respond quickly to questions, but I’m aware that many people are getting insurance at a much lower price than I pay.

My agent is Jason. I like my agent; he is always professional and friendly. I have heard many people say that insurance costs are high and that it mostly benefits the agents. My agent has taken the time to meet with me and explain my coverages in great detail.

Good insurance, but a bit too expensive. I don’t recommend the agency in Santa Fe. The agent was rarely in the office, and it seemed like staff were just there to keep the place running. In 11 years, I never got to talk to him until I had a claim when mice ate my fuel line. Then he called, woke me up, and was impatient and confrontational. Later, he argued about what they would pay for the mice/fuel line repair.

I drive for personal use maybe 3 to 4 times a week, less than a 12-mile round trip each time, with no accidents or tickets. I’m a senior, and my insurance keeps increasing. I’m shopping around for a lower cost.

It hasn’t been great. I’ve been with State Farm for over 10 years, and they’re still charging me $200 or more each month for coverage. I’m 68 years old, I don’t speed, and I haven’t caused any accidents. Thank goodness, yet my premium payments are still so high.

I would not recommend State Farm. They are way too expensive, even for customers like me who have been loyal to them with three houses and several cars for 32 years.

State Farm has been misleading, and they keep switching the person I talk to. I was told my payment would be $206 a month, and now they want $300. I’m currently looking for a new insurance policy to switch to so I can pay my bill monthly without any changes.

At the point of sale, my agent “treated me like a relative.” But after looking at my documents, several things bother me. His name isn’t on any of them—only the owner of that franchise is. I sent a message directly to my agent, and it’s been four days with no answer. To my surprise, my deductible amount is set at $1,000. Most surprising, we have the bare minimum coverage. That’s why I tried to reach my agent to see if he could help me. My agent also told me something that I’ve since discovered is untrue: that Allstate does not use your FICO/credit report when calculating your premiums. In reading my declarations page, it clearly says we do not have the lowest rate due to information from the credit report (it doesn’t say whose credit report). I’m disappointed—especially since I can’t find his name on the paperwork and I’m not able to get a hold of him through the direct number I was given. Along with my other discoveries, I chalk it up to just another slick sales tactic.

Far too expensive. There are much cheaper options for the same coverage.

Bundling isn’t always better. Always read the fine print, and don’t ever feel pressured to accept what they offer you as the best option.

State Farm misled me and charged me more. I was told I was getting a two-car discount. The discount was equal to what I was paying on the second car, so it felt like free coverage. I sold the second car three years later, and when my rate adjusted, I was paying $28.44 less per month. I believe this cost me $995.40 over 35 months.

It’s ridiculously expensive, yet still cheaper than anywhere else!

They were great until they started charging me double and adding a late fee. I wasn’t late until I couldn’t figure out why they were charging me $200 and something on a $105 policy. Then they wouldn’t remove the late fees, so they kept adding up. I still paid the $211.89 insurance cost on a $105.00 policy, but my insurance was still somehow always late. Anyway, it should have been a month ahead, not late.

My agent gives terrible service and is rude. Why do I even have an agent? All he seems willing to do is collect my payment; otherwise, he’s not helpful. As far as State Farm goes, the claim took forever to resolve. It was a small claim for $330, which I paid for, and I had the car back in two weeks. Then I was contacted to find out where the car was. They wanted to total it, but there is nothing wrong with the car. It’s a 2013 model in good condition. State Farm had nothing out of pocket, and on two different occasions I received phone calls saying they were coming for my car. I didn’t get any help from my agent. I’m looking for a new insurance company after 40 years with State Farm, and I ended up with the worst agent they have.

We’ve been loyal State Farm customers with the same agent for 13+ years. We had a claim about 10 years ago that was handled by MJ Collision Center and was paid in full after we paid our deductible. We also had another claim after being hit in a parking lot; that repair was also done by MJ Collision Center and was paid in full by the other driver’s State Farm coverage. In 2025, we had another claim. We contacted the dealer’s collision center, but they didn’t have an appointment available for 6+ weeks. My husband was going to Canada and wanted the repair done before crossing the border, so we went with MJ Collision Center. We later found out they were not on State Farm’s repair list. In the end, after 2–3 phone calls to State Farm, we could not get reimbursed for about $2,500 that we paid to get our vehicle back. We also tried to work with our agent over 4–5 contacts, but he said he doesn’t get involved in vehicle repairs. The vehicle required a three-step specialized paint job after repairs to the entire right side, plus a detailed stripe to match the left side. Unfortunately, State Farm would not pay to match the right side of the vehicle to the left side, so we lost about $2,500 on this claim.

Overpriced and poor service.

When a customer pays for coverage, they do not expect State Farm to use the same claims specialist for both insured parties. It feels like a conflict of interest. Even my State Farm agent called to ask for a different claims specialist and, after calling four times, was basically told to go away. This is the agent who creates revenue for State Farm.

I made a claim in January 2026, and they’re still contacting the other driver.

I went from $435 every six months to $900 every six months with zero changes, charges, or any claims. Progressive just decided to double my premium for no reason. It feels like everyone follows the same pricing, which is frustrating. I’ve always kept insurance and feel like I’m being penalized for doing the right thing.

I always seem to see a new agent. I haven’t seen my regular agent in years when I go to their office. It’s way too expensive for the results.

They’re very good at responding to my needs. However, their rates are now as high as the company I left, and it’s only been a few months.

Tip #1: Don’t give State Farm a chance to fix any problems you may have with insuring your vehicle. Tip #2: Go into the office and get insurance in person.

This is frustrating. I’ve been waiting four months to get my deductible back. Every time I call, I get a runaround. The agent handling my case doesn’t seem to have a clear understanding of it.

They’ve raised their prices so much that I can’t afford them anymore.

They constantly upgrade your policy by adding a higher deductible and uninsured motorist coverage, and when you call them, they say that it’s just the way it is. As a policyholder, I had to be the one to advocate, investigate, and say, “No, you can’t make these changes without my permission.” I ended up lowering my own bill by almost $30, so why should I even have a broker or stay with State Farm if I had to do all the work myself? I’m very unhappy with State Farm.

State Farm should offer a senior discount, but my insurance keeps going up, and I’m ready for a change. I don’t drive much, so I’m looking for full coverage for $20–$30 a month.

It’s higher than my previous policy, which was also high, but it’s $100 cheaper than that policy now in effect.

I’d encourage people to look for cheaper options. State Farm is big, but they deny claims like crazy, even when neighbors are getting approved for the same storms and the same hail damage.

I never feel like the agent is working for me or offering the best information for my coverage. I don’t like the way the billing is handled. I don’t want my house and vehicles to all be due at the same time, and that never gets changed. Customer service is very poor.

My biggest complaint is their customer service, or lack thereof. Just hope you never have to use it unless you want to get yourself very frustrated. For example, they put me on this Drive Safe and Save program, which was supposed to lower my bill. Well, for the first couple of renewals, my bill was lower. In fact, the bill before last went down about $55 or $60. But this current bill went back up about $60. After spending two afternoons trying to get someone to talk to, they told me that my beacon wasn't working and that's why they took my discount away. I said, how was I supposed to know that? I have one installed in each of my vehicles as per their instructions. If it wasn't working, that's their problem; I didn't make the equipment. So I said, well then, seeing that I didn't know it malfunctioned, I should still get the discount. They said they would check and get back to me. Guess what? I never heard a word. They were very nice to me about 5 years ago when I signed up for my 2 cars and house insurance. Their phone is never answered by a human, which I think is a bunch of nonsense. Right now, I'm ready to say "GOODBYE STATE FARM."

I paid $50 a month for liability in 2020, but for some reason, I now pay $150, with no accidents or DUIs. Worst insurance ever!

They didn't pay for my accident when I ran into the back of a car that started to take off and then stopped. They wanted to total my car even though I was still able to drive it. There were no engine or airbag problems, nor was there an issue with the car's value.

I've been with them for 5 years with no wrecks, and they're charging me $159 for a 2012 model.

Saved a lot of money with the same coverage.

Good so far. I had State Farm for years until they started charging me $482 monthly for liability!

They are great in every respect, with the exception of the fact that both my house insurance and car insurance are at or over $200 a month each!

Way too expensive for how much I drive. I drive about 4,000 miles a year, and you charge me $1,600 a year for coverage.

They increased my auto insurance by $40 more a month and my home insurance by $10. No claims on either. I'm driving a 20-year-old car and paying $168.
