I’m my husband’s wife, and I’m the one requesting info. State Farm has been good to me. I’ve been with them for 56 years! I started when I was 17, and now I’m 72. They’ve never failed me once, which is why I hesitate to change.

State Farm is great, except for not covering homes in CA. The office personnel are personable and know who I am when I call. The claims department is good and fast.

Typical, but the office staff are amazing when you need something.

When you start your policy, you are given a figure that is easy to handle budget-wise. After some time, the rate increases and it feels like you're robbing Peter to pay Paul!

My biggest complaint is their customer service, or lack thereof. Just hope you never have to use it unless you want to get yourself very frustrated. For example, they put me on this Drive Safe and Save program, which was supposed to lower my bill. Well, for the first couple of renewals, my bill was lower. In fact, the bill before last went down about $55 or $60. But this current bill went back up about $60. After spending two afternoons trying to get someone to talk to, they told me that my beacon wasn't working and that's why they took my discount away. I said, how was I supposed to know that? I have one installed in each of my vehicles as per their instructions. If it wasn't working, that's their problem; I didn't make the equipment. So I said, well then, seeing that I didn't know it malfunctioned, I should still get the discount. They said they would check and get back to me. Guess what? I never heard a word. They were very nice to me about 5 years ago when I signed up for my 2 cars and house insurance. Their phone is never answered by a human, which I think is a bunch of nonsense. Right now, I'm ready to say "GOODBYE STATE FARM."

I paid $50 a month for liability in 2020, but for some reason, I now pay $150, with no accidents or DUIs. Worst insurance ever!

They didn't pay for my accident when I ran into the back of a car that started to take off and then stopped. They wanted to total my car even though I was still able to drive it. There were no engine or airbag problems, nor was there an issue with the car's value.

I've been with them for 5 years with no wrecks, and they're charging me $159 for a 2012 model.

Good so far. I had State Farm for years until they started charging me $482 monthly for liability!

They are great in every respect, with the exception of the fact that both my house insurance and car insurance are at or over $200 a month each!

Way too expensive for how much I drive. I drive about 4,000 miles a year, and you charge me $1,600 a year for coverage.

They increased my auto insurance by $40 more a month and my home insurance by $10. No claims on either. I'm driving a 20-year-old car and paying $168.

Don't use State Farm. They don't allow stacking on two cars on a single policy. So, you either have to give up that option or get an additional policy. They are the only company doing this in Florida.

Good service but overpriced.

My State Farm office acts like they're doing me a favor instead of realizing that I'm the client. Also, there is no tech support when resetting my password on the app. I've tried laptop and desktop; it just doesn't matter. Very poor customer service. On the positive side, I learned that if I pay for a tow, my agent will reimburse me fully on the spot.

Horrible service. They deny claims and are overpriced. The customer service is poor. I called the insurance commission, and they are aware that this company refuses to honor claims.

After submitting a payment for my State Farm auto insurance over a month before it was due, I received a new statement saying they switched my policy to stacked insurance. What?? This also raised my premium by $143.64. State Farm gave some questionable excuse that they had to update their policies and by "state law" they had to change from unstacked to stacked insurance. I only have one vehicle and one policy with State Farm. Why would I want stacked insurance? I missed the second or third page notice that required me to decline stacked insurance. I believe it is against the law to sell a product without a definite "positive" response that you want that product. I finally was able to correct and remove the stacked provision in my policy. It left a bad taste for State Farm. I am not sure they have my best interests.

The rates go up every 6 months. We have gone 10 years with no claims.

The Drive Safe & Save program disappointed me when my policy came up for renewal. We had a very good score overall and never received any communication from them indicating concerns. My policy renewal reflected a 47% increase, despite having no accidents, tickets, or black marks on our record. They could not provide any explanation as to why. Don't fall for the Drive Safe & Save program.

I got with State Farm through a private insurance guy who said he runs his business how he wants to, but underwriting can come in at any time and overrule his choices. I found this out the hard way. After one major accident, I had a lady force me to reread her, and then I was informed I'd be getting let go in a few months. So I was forced to switch. I even called the guy, and he said, sorry there's nothing I can do because you haven't been with us for 3 years. Even once I hit 3 years, he still couldn't do anything. So I felt lied to a lot. The associates on the phone always had a different opinion about how things work, and not always was their information correct. I had to call back to talk to the owner to get a solid answer on anything.

After 40 years of paying premiums, I had to hire an attorney when I finally had a claim.

Trouble with auto pay not debiting the bank, then they say they are canceling. We go to the office, and they need a 2-month payment; still, auto debit is not working. Next, the debit is 2 months; we are billed monthly. They say they don't know why it is not debiting auto pay and not to worry, LOL. The office doesn't know what the main branch is doing.

I feel it's too high right now for two cars on liability at $162.00. Can you give me a better price?

They continually raise rates. I have an excellent driving record with zero infractions over 20 years. I am a disabled senior and drive less than 1,000 miles annually, less than 5 miles monthly. Yet they have raised my rates considerably every year for the past 6 years. I have both auto and home policies. I'm shopping for new insurance.

Too expensive. I’ve had quotes for much less than I am paying.

Terrible - I got rear-ended and my car was totaled. They brought in a third party who did not know how to appraise the value of my car and refused to use my comparisons. I lost approximately $6k to $8k of value, and their solution was for me to file a court case costing me $8k to $10k. This happened after being a State Farm customer for over 30 years.

Insurance through State Farm is so expensive that I feel I can't keep insurance on a car that I have parked in my garage 99 percent of the time.

Confusing. Two vehicles, one driver aged 75, no accidents or claims. Insurance doubled (liability) when I added a 14-year-old car.

After State Farm increased our policy on one of our cars by $400 per year, I attempted to contact someone to discuss the increase. State Farm makes it impossible to talk to a live person other than your local agent. The company’s retention program is nonexistent. Based on my experience after being with them for 11 years, I could not recommend State Farm to anyone.

Don't go with State Farm. It's like pulling teeth to get your insurance rate down. I pay $153.00 a month for full coverage with a $2000 deductible, and I've had only one accident that was my fault in my entire 60 years of living. I haven't had a ticket in 15 years or more.

They will start the insurance low, but then when they renew you, they raise the rates.

Longevity as a client doesn’t matter; rates continue to increase every 6 months. It's a good practice to continue to shop around and move your insurance coverage to different insurance companies for auto and home policies. I've been with my insurance company for over 15 years, and if I knew the information I have today, I wouldn't have been a loyal customer for so long. You get nothing in return, like better rates, etc.

There is no customer service and no communication. Rate increases are beyond unreasonable.

Once you get a ticket or accident, your insurance rates go sky high and take forever to come down.

State Farm is good about paying a claim, but their claims adjuster is out of touch with reality. They need to see what the repair company will charge and then plan accordingly. In my case, the VW dealer wanted $3,100 for repair, but State Farm had me pay that amount plus $500 more (total $3,600). WHY?!

Customer service isn’t any good on the company's part, but the agent level is great. They have a telematics program that has failed people with their discount, and they fail to take accountability for the technical hardware failure.

State Farm changed all their coverages and it's very hard to understand what has transpired. One policy went up 400% (no claims ever made on it).

Keeps raising prices... starting to look elsewhere.

State Farm does not honor safe driver records accumulated over years of driving experience, especially while insured by State Farm during those same years.

It's doable! Not perfect but manageable. It's a shame we still have to pay high insurance premiums in Michigan.

The policy increases every 6 months without fail!

After being in a car accident, I realized how important it was to have coverage that included everything. I don’t like the increase in my premium, so I’m considering lowering my coverage limits to decrease my premium.

State Farm just keeps raising the rates. They have no desire to work with you and save you money.
