Car insurance in Maryland is absolutely horrible. Many people in my community have registered their auto tags in Virginia where prices are more affordable.

Low rates including my renter's insurance.

Good but expensive.

They are good. Coverage is solid and the cost is reasonable for SC.

Everything was great until they allowed me to go until June without realizing I hadn't paid February's bill. I had no idea I was behind, as far as I knew, I was caught up. Then, 3 months later, I received a bill with three late fees for three different times. They didn't bill me until 3 months later, and they didn't even inform me about February's bill until June. Other than that, they're really great with what they offer, like roadside assistance. I haven't seen the discount yet, but hopefully, it will be applied as they say.

Way too expensive.

Had my first claim with a broken windshield. They took care of everything, but it's just pricey.

They are good. I haven’t had to use them yet, but in the past 50 years, I had them for 38 years with no problem!

It was okay, but the agent never met with me. She has her assistants do all of the follow-up work. I am planning to change insurance companies because of her lack of interest in keeping me as a customer, plus the rates are going up quickly.

I have been with State Farm for 14 years. It's just that it's getting too expensive, so I'm looking at other options.

State Farm is best if you get to know your agent. The better that relationship is, the better the experience with the agency as a whole. For bundled insurance, they have some of the best rates. We saved extra so that we could raise our deductible, and we put the premium difference in a high-interest bank account, so that we can pay small claims.

I have no issues.

I missed a payment because I was taking care of an elderly lady who passed away. I didn't even realize I missed the payment because I also had to find another place to live, as I was living at her house. My whole world was turned upside down, and I was heartbroken from the loss. Now, I'm having trouble finding insurance because I missed a payment with State Farm. That's that, I guess.

No problems or claims. I would like it to be less expensive.

The cost goes up faster than my Social Security and pension income, especially for my age group of 79+.

I got with State Farm through a private insurance guy who said he runs his business how he wants to, but underwriting can come in at any time and overrule his choices. I found this out the hard way. After one major accident, I had a lady force me to reread her, and then I was informed I'd be getting let go in a few months. So I was forced to switch. I even called the guy, and he said, sorry there's nothing I can do because you haven't been with us for 3 years. Even once I hit 3 years, he still couldn't do anything. So I felt lied to a lot. The associates on the phone always had a different opinion about how things work, and not always was their information correct. I had to call back to talk to the owner to get a solid answer on anything.

After 40 years of paying premiums, I had to hire an attorney when I finally had a claim.

Trouble with auto pay not debiting the bank, then they say they are canceling. We go to the office, and they need a 2-month payment; still, auto debit is not working. Next, the debit is 2 months; we are billed monthly. They say they don't know why it is not debiting auto pay and not to worry, LOL. The office doesn't know what the main branch is doing.

I feel it's too high right now for two cars on liability at $162.00. Can you give me a better price?

They continually raise rates. I have an excellent driving record with zero infractions over 20 years. I am a disabled senior and drive less than 1,000 miles annually, less than 5 miles monthly. Yet they have raised my rates considerably every year for the past 6 years. I have both auto and home policies. I'm shopping for new insurance.

Too expensive. I’ve had quotes for much less than I am paying.

Terrible - I got rear-ended and my car was totaled. They brought in a third party who did not know how to appraise the value of my car and refused to use my comparisons. I lost approximately $6k to $8k of value, and their solution was for me to file a court case costing me $8k to $10k. This happened after being a State Farm customer for over 30 years.

Insurance through State Farm is so expensive that I feel I can't keep insurance on a car that I have parked in my garage 99 percent of the time.

Confusing. Two vehicles, one driver aged 75, no accidents or claims. Insurance doubled (liability) when I added a 14-year-old car.

After State Farm increased our policy on one of our cars by $400 per year, I attempted to contact someone to discuss the increase. State Farm makes it impossible to talk to a live person other than your local agent. The company’s retention program is nonexistent. Based on my experience after being with them for 11 years, I could not recommend State Farm to anyone.

They keep raising rates, with no break for being with them for 45 years.

Don't go with State Farm. It's like pulling teeth to get your insurance rate down. I pay $153.00 a month for full coverage with a $2000 deductible, and I've had only one accident that was my fault in my entire 60 years of living. I haven't had a ticket in 15 years or more.

They will start the insurance low, but then when they renew you, they raise the rates.

They are very expensive. I’m driving a 12-year-old car and pay $700 every 6 months. One claim in 5 years in which I was not at fault.

Longevity as a client doesn’t matter; rates continue to increase every 6 months. It's a good practice to continue to shop around and move your insurance coverage to different insurance companies for auto and home policies. I've been with my insurance company for over 15 years, and if I knew the information I have today, I wouldn't have been a loyal customer for so long. You get nothing in return, like better rates, etc.

There is no customer service and no communication. Rate increases are beyond unreasonable.

State Farm is good about paying a claim, but their claims adjuster is out of touch with reality. They need to see what the repair company will charge and then plan accordingly. In my case, the VW dealer wanted $3,100 for repair, but State Farm had me pay that amount plus $500 more (total $3,600). WHY?!

Customer service isn’t any good on the company's part, but the agent level is great. They have a telematics program that has failed people with their discount, and they fail to take accountability for the technical hardware failure.

State Farm changed all their coverages and it's very hard to understand what has transpired. One policy went up 400% (no claims ever made on it).

State Farm does not honor safe driver records accumulated over years of driving experience, especially while insured by State Farm during those same years.

It's doable! Not perfect but manageable. It's a shame we still have to pay high insurance premiums in Michigan.

The policy increases every 6 months without fail!

After being in a car accident, I realized how important it was to have coverage that included everything. I don’t like the increase in my premium, so I’m considering lowering my coverage limits to decrease my premium.

State Farm just keeps raising the rates. They have no desire to work with you and save you money.

After over 5 years with State Farm, I've decided to move on after my next term. This company did not treat me well. I used their app to update my new vehicle information, and they charged me $200. Their system changed my information without my permission. All I did was enter the new vehicle information, but the system altered my policy details, such as indicating I didn't own my home when I do. My agent couldn't help me. So, good for you, State Farm. You got me for $200, but you also lost a loyal customer.

I have been with State Farm for 6 years, and my premium increased exponentially through no fault of my own. They just hiked up my payment without any explanation. I have not received any traffic tickets or been involved in any accidents for many years. It's mind-boggling how I'm still sticking with State Farm.

Very difficult to get responses from the claims handler. I felt the only time I got responses was after complaining to the insurance agent about the lack of any response. The insurance agent, on the other hand, was very responsive.

The pricing is too high, and your "Drive and Save" program has been deceptive since its introduction a few years back. One day, my rate suddenly went up. When I called my agent, I was told to enroll in "Drive and Save" to get a discount off my current rate. How can I get a "discount" off my "regular" rate when my rate just went up? All "Drive and Save" would have done is reduce my rate to what it was before you raised it. I can actually save 40% with another provider unless you can match their rates and give me the minimum required state coverages. Your agents are great; they are friendly, professional, and quick to reply and adjust any policy requests. I highly rate them all 5 stars. Thank you.

My car policy was canceled after only 3 months because of the money my former insurance company paid out for an accident two years ago. I told the agent about my driving history and was issued a higher coverage than needed at my request, paid on time, and did the Drive Safe program. I even combined my home and car policy with this company. Too bad for them that my house policy follows me wherever I go. It was over $200 a month with the coverage I put on it.

My wife and I recently moved away from ST Farm after 45 years because their rates skyrocketed and their claims service was terrible. Our agent admitted to us that their rates were much more expensive to help cover the class action lawsuits.

With State Farm, there is no provision for a driver who drives very little, say 2,500 miles per year, but still has to pay top rates.

They are out of their minds offering that kind of coverage. If they want to compete with State Farm, they must provide better coverage with better prices.

Need to reduce rates for lower mileage driven.

Great customer service from staff! However, there's a lack of consideration for lower rates for folks who have never had a wreck, low mileage use, no DUIs, etc. These are meaningful issues for consideration when calculating cost!

Not good in terms of price. They paid pretty fast when a tornado caused a tree to fall on my SUV with me in it. Totaled my SUV. Then proceeded to raise my premium almost 100% for a 76-year-old with 50 years of driving experience, with only 1 ticket EVER and 1 or 2 not-my-fault accidents in 50 years. I've had to give up some activities in order to afford it until I find a different policy.

Way too expensive. Customer service is severely lacking. No responses to messages and questions. Agents don’t care about anything except padding their pockets with undeserved commissions. Been with them for 20+ years and the rates are horrendous for good driving. The only way to get bigger discounts is to apply this device to your vehicle to monitor every single move while driving. I don’t need a babysitter device to prove my safety habits. Credit reports are used to determine rates and that's outrageous! So if your credit score is low, expect much higher rates. Sick and tired of paying high rates because of insurance agents needing their commissions.

I’ve been with State Farm since 1962. Just because I’m 83 does not mean I should be paying $80 a month for a car that doesn’t leave my carport but maybe once a month for 5 miles. That’s ridiculous. I have asked them many times about reducing my rate and all they tell me is, I’m getting the best rate possible. I don’t believe it.

The insurance is too expensive, and the prices keep going up with no discounts ever given for long-time customers. Additionally, there is poor communication when opening claims for my house roof, and I was denied full repair for a 20-year-old roof.

My insurance agent was not very approachable. Every time I called, he tried to move the conversation away from him and to another department. I did not feel appreciated or respected as a client. The claims department was excellent, and customer service was also great. They handled the case very professionally after our son was involved in an accident.

For seniors with an excellent driving record, this company offers cheaper insurance, especially for those with older cars.

I have not been satisfied with the price of my insurance ever since I purchased my Tesla. The customer service from my agent is sometimes good, but at other times it's not too good. For example, when I removed a red Dodge pickup truck from my policy, the red Chevrolet truck on my best friend's completely separate policy was removed instead. I clearly stated the red Dodge pickup, and she repeated it back to me, yet still removed the wrong vehicle from the wrong policy altogether. This has happened another time when one of my three Toyota Priuses was removed from the policy despite giving the VIN number for a different vehicle to be removed. Also, the new billing system they are using is horrible.
