I was shocked by the annual cost for a new vehicle we just added to our policy. With all the safety features on this vehicle, the cost of the insurance feels ludicrous. That’s why I’m now shopping for a better rate.

I have been with Allstate for many years. It is always easy to contact an agent to answer questions I may have about my policy. Any concerns have been handled professionally, respectfully, and promptly. At this time, I am researching possible alternatives to lower auto policy fees. I have found that the car policy charges may be higher than other companies, but no one has been able to offer lower home insurance than what I get with Allstate. So, with all that said, I am still searching for a reduction in car insurance charges along with someone who can match Allstate’s home insurance—at this point, I’m unsure what to do. It seems best to stay with Allstate for the time being.

Good, just a little pricey at this stage of my life.

I’m happy with Allstate. I had my first horrible car accident, and I was told it was my fault. It was my first car accident ever at age 70, with no tickets and no DWIs. My car was totaled. I was really hoping this accident would be excused since it was my first. I’ve had a driver’s license since I was 16 and have been insured all those years, always with full coverage. I guess the commercial on TV isn’t meant for me. I’m just very disappointed.

I have good coverage with them, and I’ve been happy overall. It’s just that insurance keeps going up, and I’m on a limited income. With everything going up, it’s hard to afford it. The only thing I have a complaint about is that when my original agent retired, I had to wait one year before I could transfer to another agency. I didn’t like that.

I am being overcharged for the most inexpensive coverage they have. At $80 a month for the lowest coverage liability that basically covers nothing, it is a poor choice. I've only been in one accident over 20 years ago. So Direct will cover you, just not as well as they say they do.

I think the policy rates are too high for our older vehicles.

It’s very hard to get an answer.

It would be nice to pay less for senior status. The accident-free discount is good. A multi-vehicle discount would be appreciated—I have four vehicles to insure. I’m not happy that I have to pay separately for roadside service; towing should be part of the basic plan, not an add-on. I’d like a discount for going digital and more payment options besides paying the full amount up front or monthly. It seems like there’s a huge price difference when paying monthly, and that doesn’t feel fair. Not everyone has $2,000 ready for a lump-sum payment. If I have an accident, it would be good to have an in-person adjuster available within a day or two instead of a week.

Terrible. My policy was canceled automatically for a declined payment. I had my card closed due to fraud issues and didn’t realize my policy was canceled because I received no notification or phone call, but I was still being charged every month through the automatic withdrawals showing on my statements. That meant I had been driving uninsured for months. I became aware of this because I called to add two more vehicles to my policy and was then told I didn’t have one for the reason above. I bought insurance through General Insurance affiliated with Allstate and called again to ask about adding more vehicles. I was given a quote for $96/month. I agreed, and then I was told she couldn’t offer me that anymore and that I needed to make a payment the next day. Since when do you get a quote, accept it, and then get told it’s no longer offered?

It’s OK, but I would shop around. State Farm is going to get my business.

I had this policy for almost 2 years with Allstate and they never recognized that I did not have uninsured motorist coverage. In a city like Houston, it is imperative that you have that coverage.

I am dealing with a hail storm total loss claim from 4/28/2026. As of today, 6/29/2026, I am still trying to get paperwork and payment. I have spent days, weeks, and an unknown amount of hours trying to resolve the claim. I am unhappy, I have made complaints to the MO insurance board, and I plan to change companies as soon as the claim is closed.

Follow-up is poor. Lower costs are not offered or given as an option unless you ask for it. I will definitely start shopping for alternate coverage with different companies.

Well, I haven't caused any accidents, but I believe it was November 17th or so when one of those big Comed trucks backed into my SUV and did damage to the hood and front side, which needed to be replaced. How I found out was a note from Comed letting me know of the fact! But wait, it gets better because the insurance agent who convinced me to leave State Farm, after narrowing down exactly what I wanted, which included a $500 deductible, input it into the system as a $1000 deductible. So, on the day of my misfortune, I got that bad news as well. Not to mention, they took close to 3 months to get my money back from Comed. So, I'm looking to maybe switch to a better option.

Allstate is a great insurance company when you are a new customer. Longer service with them just means higher rates.
