Lack of professional knowledge and confusing explanations from both junior and senior staff members. Senior staff sometimes act like they have the right information about policy structure and rules, but they often don’t have current, relevant policy details and facts. It took me several calls and a lot of frustration to get to even a 3-star level of satisfaction. This Allstate office in Bloomfield, NJ lacked enough seasoned staff to answer calls or help customers accurately. The company’s HQ seemed unconcerned with customer satisfaction and focused mainly on collecting payment rather than the customer experience. I once called and spoke with the agent, and his tone felt unconcerned, though he said he would have the issue handled at the time. I don’t remember if there was any positive resolution. I’m sharing this to say: please look carefully and put in extra effort to find another insurer, and especially avoid this Allstate office in Bloomfield, NJ.

Homeowners is a little high, but okay. Car insurance is definitely higher than everybody else. Only the house is keeping me there, but this is going to be the last year. Rates seem to be coming down on the home, so I know I can beat it and I’m in pretty good shape to switch over.

I wouldn’t recommend Allstate to anyone. They haven’t done anything to help me out. I sent in a receipt for a tow after someone ran me off the road and into a ditch, but they never reimbursed me for it. They said they never received it. There’s so much more!

My coverage went up to $3,200 per year. I’ve never had an accident and I’ve never gotten a ticket. One truck doesn’t even run, but I kept the cheapest insurance on it. I’ll be searching soon for cheaper insurance.

They’ve changed the way they do business, and not for the better. We had a car run a stoplight and T-bone her in the driver’s door. The other driver had no insurance, so we had to pay our deductible to get the car fixed. We never heard another word from them, and they never recovered our money, but we still see this same person driving around with a new car and bragging about never having to pay out.

Not good. We got a great rate and saved a lot, but right off the bat we were supposed to download their app and have it monitor our driving. The problem was there was no way they could tell if we were riding with someone else, and the website was iffy. We were told the price would go up if we didn't use the app, and it did—an additional $85 per 6 months. Now they sent me an email saying it will go up again if we don't take 50 more trips in our car before the payment is due again. That’s in 2 months. We’re retired, and the car sits sometimes for days without being used, so I’m looking again.

We never get a copy of our insurance. We’re supposed to print our own copy from the website, but we can never get on their site.

There’s nothing good about charging a senior high insurance, especially if they have a good driving record. I have no violations or tickets, and I don’t travel far from home—my trips are to doctor’s appointments and the grocery store, which is less than 15 miles. No, I wouldn’t recommend you to any senior on a fixed income who only has one car. Goodbye.
