At Insurify, our goal is to help customers compare insurance products and find the best policy for them. We strive to provide open, honest, and unbiased information about the insurance products and services we review. Our hard-working team of data analysts, insurance experts, insurance agents, editors and writers, has put in thousands of hours of research to create the content found on our site.
We do receive compensation when a sale or referral occurs from many of the insurance providers and marketing partners on our site. That may impact which products we display and where they appear on our site. But it does not influence our meticulously researched editorial content, what we write about, or any reviews or recommendations we may make. We do not guarantee favorable reviews or any coverage at all in exchange for compensation.

Wagmo Insurance is a New York-based pet insurance company that offers accident and illness coverage as well as pet wellness plans for dogs and cats. Unlike many other pet insurance companies, Wagmo can cover up to 100% of your pet’s eligible vet bills after meeting your deductible.
Plus, pet parents can take advantage of special discounts on pet food, accessories, and more. You can visit any vet in the U.S. and use Wagmo’s mobile app to file claims and get reimbursed.[1]
Here’s what you need to know about Wagmo.
Wagmo has three pet wellness plans, with costs ranging from $25 to $65 per month.
Wagmo has a 15-day waiting period for accidents and illnesses and a 30-day waiting period for cancer treatment.
The company doesn’t cover spaying/neutering, alternative therapies, or prescription food.
Wagmo: Our verdict
Wagmo can be a great pet insurance company for pet owners who want coverage for preventative care. Wagmo is unique in that it sells three pet wellness plans with varying types and amounts of coverage, so you can pick the best one for your pet. Some pet insurers only offer one wellness plan.
Wagmo also offers the option for a 100% reimbursement rate in most states. It’s common for pet insurance companies to offer a maximum reimbursement rate of 90%, so this is an area where Wagmo surpasses its biggest competitors.
One of Wagmo’s major downsides is that it provides limited coverage compared to some other insurers. For instance, Wagmo doesn’t cover spaying and neutering, whereas most other pet wellness plans cover this service.
Wagmo pros and cons
If you’re thinking about enrolling your pet in coverage with Wagmo, here are some pros and cons to consider:
Option for a 100% reimbursement rate on eligible vet bills (not available in CA)
Offers multiple pet wellness plans that cover routine and preventative care
Provides 24/7 access to a virtual vet if you need assistance
15-day waiting period for accidents and illnesses and 30 days for cancer treatment
Doesn’t cover spaying and neutering
Lifetime maximum for all claims paid is $100,000
Wagmo plans and coverages
Wagmo offers several plans to choose from, including accident and illness coverage and three different wellness plans.
Wagmo’s accident and illness plan provides comprehensive coverage for emergency care and certain health conditions. Here’s what this plan covers:
Cancer treatment
Congenital conditions
End-of-life care
Hip dysplasia
Hospitalization
Lab tests
Pet ambulance transportation
Surgery
X-rays
You can choose from three deductible options — $250, $500, and $1,000. For reimbursement rates, you can pick 80%, 90%, or 100% (in California, 100% isn’t an option). This plan has a $10,000 per incident coverage limit and a lifetime coverage limit of $100,000.
Once you sign up for coverage, a couple of waiting periods apply. For accidents and illnesses, the insurer will only cover issues that arise 15 days after your policy starts. For cancer, the symptoms and diagnosis must come after 30 days of coverage in order to receive covered treatment. Wagmo considers anything that occurs during these periods to be a pre-existing condition.

How much does Wagmo cost?
Wagmo’s wellness plans range from $25 to $65 per month, but this can vary by plan.
The cost of pet insurance depends on a variety of factors, like your pet’s breed and age, plan type, coverage limits, deductible, reimbursement rate, and location.[2] Wagmo also offers a 10% discount for pet parents who insure more than one pet.

But while most of the company’s Google reviews are positive, some of the more recent reviews aren’t as good. For example, this customer claims that Wagmo’s didn’t reimburse their claims for vet services that should’ve been covered:
The bottom line: Is Wagmo pet insurance worth it?
Wagmo insurance is worth it for some pet parents. While pet insurance is an up-front cost, it can help you cover unexpected or expensive vet visits in the future.
Wagmo has a few standout features, like the option for 100% reimbursement in most states and multiple pet wellness plans. It can be a great pet insurance company for people who want coverage for preventive and routine care. Plus, all the plans include unlimited video sessions and live chat with licensed vets.
If you’re considering a Wagmo pet insurance plan, it’s also important to understand the downsides. For example, its plans don’t cover spaying and neutering, which is something that many other pet insurance companies cover. Also, plans have a lifetime maximum coverage limit of $100,000 for all claims, but many other insurers have an unlimited lifetime coverage amount.
