Since Gronk, USAA isn't what it used to be.
I've been a member for 21 years. They were a solid auto insurance company, especially in Europe. However, ever since Gronkowski became their celebrity branding spokesperson, the rates have increased. I switched to Progressive and got the same coverage for half the price. USAA, you can do better. Lose Gronk and get back to offering honest insurance rates for loyal military members.

Good On Homes/High on Auto
I don't think your insurance programs can be beaten, but they are expensive and twice as much as what I can pay in the insurance market! My home coverage is more important to me than my auto coverage. It doesn't bother me to pay a higher premium on my house, but my auto insurance is way higher than what I can get from other insurance companies. We only drive to the doctor's appointments, grocery store, and to visit our kids and grandkids. I understand paying full coverage on my fully paid RAM P/U, but I feel I am paying way too much on my Honda that is over 10 years old and paid for. We are planning on buying a new (2022 - 2024) Jeep Grand Cherokee later this year or early next year, and I feel that I am bound to shop for insurance for that vehicle. What I like about USAA is that you are great when it comes to claims and we have only had one house claim that I feel could not have been handled any better than the way we were treated after the wind storm we had. And I thank you for that! If I could get a better auto plan, I would be a very happy customer. Thank you.

I've never had to make a claim, but I was insured, so that's fine. My only complaint is about the overall cost of insurance. USAA seems to inflate the replacement value of your home and charges a premium well above competitors' rates. Absolutely terrible. This company left me without a car for 8 months. They couldn't decide whether or not to total my car after it was already repaired. There were so many mistakes on their end and all I received at the end was a voicemail acknowledging their mistakes and an apology. USAA's Lack of Loyalty
I would not recommend USAA. I have been with them since 2015 and have had my insurance on auto pay. However, since November, my payment was being declined due to 'no approval'. I did not receive a single call about this issue and only found out after the fact that my insurance was not active. As a long-time customer, I feel like I have been overpaying every month. My new insurance is half of what I was paying with USAA!

I had a terrible claims experience with them. They did nothing to compensate for their poor handling of my claim; in fact, they increased my premium even more. The claim was for a 'hit-and-run' while my car was parked outside a house and I was in the backyard. It was broad daylight, around 12:43 pm; I had parked at 12:41 pm, which means I barely made it out of the car in time to avoid being hit by this vehicle. I was not at fault. USAA increased my monthly premium by over $100 each 6-month renewal period. I never planned to ever leave USAA in my life. Being charged $568 per month for insurance is insane. None of your representatives could provide my mother and me with any valid answers to our questions. How can our insurance go up from $238 per month two years ago to over $400 last year and now $568? We were clearly being over-insured for no reason. My mom is 85 and has been a customer of yours since she was in her 20s. One representative even suggested that if I get OnStar, I would save one penny. Is that supposed to be an attractive solution? I've been with them for seven years. In September, I notified them of my move to Alabama, which I thought would trigger a correction in my insurance records to reflect my new location.
