USAA charged me for two vehicles I own, but were not registered for at least 5 years. When I brought this to their attention, they did nothing about reimbursement. Last policy period, I was paying $136 per month. Next month, they are expecting me to pay almost $300. I have spent too much time on the phone with them about my rates. The pricing settlement for older vehicles in good condition is very poor. As a master technician, I keep my vehicles in excellent condition. However, when I had an accident, my high-mileage vehicle was undervalued, not considering its mechanical condition. Despite replacing most of the drivetrain components, suspension parts, and the A/C & heating components, my vehicle was valued thousands of dollars less. I was denied the proper settlement I was due. I repaired all the damage post-accident, finished the cosmetic issues, and even repainted the entire vehicle. I sent pictures to claims to verify the upgraded condition. Unfortunately, it seems most insurance companies use similar tactics to obtain a good salvage price, and they are quick to total vehicles, thereby robbing their customers of the true value. Apart from not having a local agent to discuss these issues, I remain a customer of USAA, even after they raised my homeowners insurance by over $2500 in one increase. This is a tough pill to swallow on a fixed income.

As a military veteran, I have admired this company for many years. Last year, I obtained both home and auto insurance. They are not truthful about covering your vehicle repairs. My vehicle was damaged by rubber on the road and required $2000 worth of repairs. Meanwhile, I was left for 2 years with my car held together by zip ties instead of being repaired. Then they reported that I was in a preventable accident.
