I haven't had any accidents, I don't drink alcohol, and my car mostly sits in the garage. It has approximately 67,800 miles on it. USAA insurance company is great for filing claims quickly and easily. They pay claims promptly and are super helpful. However, when it comes to truly caring about their members, it's disappointing. I have credit cards, bank accounts, my car loan, and car insurance all under USAA. Personally, after battling cancer and health issues, getting USAA to show compassion for my situation was nonexistent. They only seem to care about active duty members, which is the only group they will help in a financial crisis. For that reason, I am really disappointed in USAA as a whole. I think for the money, it's not worth it. There are other companies that will insure my car just the same for cheaper. I don't need to carry the USAA brand and overpay when they won't do anything for a member going through something catastrophic.

I had my debit card hacked, and the bank had to create a new account, which caused all of the autopayments to be rejected until I got a new card and account number. Since it was a hack used to purchase bitcoin, the bank fraud investigators took longer than normal to get everything switched over. Just about every company was great about the failed charge once they heard about the reason. Not USAA. They sent major emails the second the charge was rejected and kept piling on. I called them, and they were unapologetic and rude. I asked them if they kept track of how long a person has been a customer. They told me I had been a customer for 37 years. They could not have cared less and then started trying to intimidate me by asking if I was still active duty and needed to update their records with this info, which they had for 25 years. They have poor customer service and high rates. Not the company they used to be. They were the only company I left through the whole experience. I would not recommend them, especially after all of the fraud that has come out of the company in recent years.

They are not what they used to be since they opened membership to the Enlisted. They spend too much on advertising, for example, the deal with Kansas City. I am not sure about their objectives these days. It seems that they are targeting anyone who is even vaguely related to a military member. My father was a Navy Officer, and I am a Marine Corps Infantry Officer. I meet people who have no clear idea about the Military, yet they are considering USAA insurance. However, when they check the costs, they find them far higher than the competition. I am unsure why I am still a member. My friends tell me to wait, but I think that the change I am waiting for will never happen. I have been a member for 40 years, which is too long.
