We have been customers with Travelers for several years. I believe we had maybe 2 or 3 claims in all the time we were customers. They paid our claims promptly with no problems. The reason we are looking at other companies is that the rates have gotten so high we cannot afford them anymore. I think in the last 2 years our rates have doubled. We just can't keep Travelers.

We had a very minor collision while waiting at a traffic light. The vehicle in front of us claimed we crept forward. Since there was very little damage (none to our car), we submitted the claim. To our surprise, we found that the other driver reported $3000 worth of damage to the rear of his car, with the only visible damage being a cracked piece of chrome trim at the base of the hatch. We called Travelers immediately, warning them that it was a scam. They seemed indifferent and said they would pay the claim. This could be one of the reasons why insurance rates are so expensive.

They quoted one price, then raised it. Now they're claiming a metal building has rotten walls and a rusted tin roof. But every tin roof rusts, and it doesn't leak. I just put a new freezer in that shed four months ago. I'm not doing anything to that shed and I wouldn't recommend Travelers to anyone.

We have been customers of Travelers for many years, at least 10 or more. We have had several claims concerning our car and home. They have always paid and have been prompt. Their customer service is good, friendly, and always helpful. I don't really want to switch, but their rates have steadily climbed over the last 2 years. We survive on a fixed income, which is not much to live on. When more money is going out, that means we have to scrimp paying for something else. I just don't think we can keep Travelers insurance with their rate increases. I have been searching online at many other companies comparing rates and I'm quite surprised. For the amount of coverage we are currently getting, the same coverage can be provided at a much cheaper price. I may be sorry later down the road, but for now, I don't have any other choice.

When I first signed up with them, it was great and affordable. Being disabled and on social security, I still drive. However, as time went on, the prices kept increasing. I would advise anyone seeking a recommendation not to do business with Travelers Insurance. I consider them to be a disreputable company. I had both my home and car insured with them and had no claims on either policy. However, they chose not to renew my homeowner's insurance. What's worse, they informed the mortgage company weeks before they informed me! They cited the reason as branches overhanging my roof. There were a couple of small branches from a neighbor's pine tree resting on the gutter. They did not give me any opportunity to correct this issue. I believe this was a malicious act.
