I personally love Travelers Insurance. They even reduced my car insurance this year.

I only had one claim. It was handled by Travelers and the repair shop. There was none of the inconvenience of going around to get 3 estimates! It was the easiest claim I have ever had!

We have full coverage, including a glass policy and roadside assistance. We had a not-at-fault collision out of state. Travelers handled the claim with the other driver's insurance. Everything went smoothly. My policy amount has increased each year, as have others. I could not find a cheaper policy with the coverage I want.

I have no problem with Travelers. I'm just looking to check rates with other insurance carriers.

The best discounts come from employment plans.

Great claims service. As soon as I had a minor car accident, I called my Travellers agency and told them what happened. They took care of everything for me.

The longer you remain a loyal customer, the higher your rates go. There's no incentive to retain good customers. Their philosophy is no different than that of cable TV or Verizon. It's a disappointing way of doing business and a surefire way of losing customers.

We have been customers with Travelers for several years. I believe we had maybe 2 or 3 claims in all the time we were customers. They paid our claims promptly with no problems. The reason we are looking at other companies is that the rates have gotten so high we cannot afford them anymore. I think in the last 2 years our rates have doubled. We just can't keep Travelers.

They are very helpful and no one has been able to match what I pay. I'm an excellent driver with a perfect driving record and only drive less than 5000 miles a year. I love the discounts they offer me. I've had no bad experiences with them.

Dealing with the computer-generated documents is trouble for me.

After participating in their driving monitoring app for 3 months and scoring 'excellent', I was only offered a 15% discount on policy renewal, even though they promised up to 30%. My rate, with no accidents and a car that is now 1 year older, went up over $300 for the year. I am shopping for a new company.

I would advise anyone seeking a recommendation not to do business with Travelers Insurance. I consider them to be a disreputable company. I had both my home and car insured with them and had no claims on either policy. However, they chose not to renew my homeowner's insurance. What's worse, they informed the mortgage company weeks before they informed me! They cited the reason as branches overhanging my roof. There were a couple of small branches from a neighbor's pine tree resting on the gutter. They did not give me any opportunity to correct this issue. I believe this was a malicious act.

Too expensive.

They require you to install the telematics app on your phone to monitor your driving for 90 days, after which I was supposed to receive up to a 20% discount. I scored very high and was told the discount would be applied when I renew next year. This was absolutely untrue.

Travelers used an outsourcing agency that removed all the molding off my driver's side door by using an incorrect tool. Both the agency and Travelers are refusing to honor the claim, blaming each other. It's no wonder people are leaving in droves! I can't wait to find a new carrier.

It's difficult to get insurance cards through the mail. The price went up exorbitantly without any claims.

They provide six months of auto insurance at a good price using the safe driving app, then significantly increase the price thereafter, even if you are an excellent driver.

It raised our price by $2000 with no explanation. A call to the company couldn't clarify why either.

I had an accident, and they never followed up with me. I had to do the legwork on my own. When I moved to a different state, they refused to insure me.

They cancel your policy if you don't make a 'welcome call', which I've never had to do with any other insurance I've had. They did not make it seem like a mandatory thing, and I work long hours, so it's difficult for me to call. I missed one payment due to the current economic situation, and even after paying both the missed payment and late fees, they are now continuously charging me double each month. This is terrible!

I had to argue with them about a claim.

I gave them zero stars. I paid them the full amount due for the year on my home insurance. After spending over an hour of my time on the phone, I agreed to bring my car insurance over to them at the end of the month for a discount. I had agreed to pay both car and home in full on the due dates I agreed upon. Both paid policies were paid in full from my bank account scheduled for specific dates. They debited my bank account the next day and then three weeks later, they decided to change the amount of my home insurance policy and increased the amount by another $700. They debited my bank account another $354 and notified me it will be another $354 next month. I don't know who they think they are, changing a policy amount agreed upon and paid in full that day, and then coming back three weeks later to increase the amount and feel free to charge my account automatically without my authorization or knowledge until after they have done it. Needless to say, they were cancelled immediately and now I'm waiting 3-4 weeks for the return of my money. I'm going to be reporting this behavior to the state banking commissioner, as well as the state insurance commissioner. They are nothing but dishonest.

Price and service failures

They put me through too much trouble trying to prove I had insurance with another company before I joined them. It seemed like nothing I provided was good enough, even though it clearly stated I had insurance. It's crazy that a person has to go through all of that to prove they had insurance. On top of that, different people kept telling me different things I needed, and when I got it, they said I needed something else. That's just too much for a person to do, especially when I don't even have the car anymore. However, I will say this: if it wasn't for all of that, I really liked their insurance. It was very affordable. But being dropped like that over trying to prove if I had insurance was a bit too much. They knew I had it; I gave them that along with other paperwork. But it's okay, I found someone else who is just as affordable.

They raised our rates by over $500 per year after my wife had a minor parking lot accident, for which they only paid out about $250. Generally, we are safe drivers.

I have a clean record, and yet my insurance keeps going up. I don't drive a lot, but my insurance on both cars and my house keeps increasing. I haven't had any claims, but they still increase my rates. I've been a good paying customer, but I don't care for the service from my agent. I'm not very proficient with computers, but I expect good service and would like feedback. I think Travelers is okay, but I don't understand why my rates are going up.
