I would have rated them a 1, but my experience with a claims adjuster who was extremely helpful saved them from that. However, he was unable to resolve the issue. He did admit that he had several claims on his desk with the same problem.

I hired a lawyer out of my own pocket and challenged in court that the county had not maintained the traffic light at the intersection. Two lights were burned out. The EMS personnel on scene mentioned that there were several wrecks there that week. I won my case, and the verdict was no points, fine, or ticket. I informed The Hartford, but they refused to remove it from my record.

The Hartford wants to charge me almost double what other companies are willing to charge me. I have had a fender bender while insured with them and I suppose at my age and retirement status, that qualifies me as being a high-risk candidate. The last straw was when my car was parked in a public parking area with the engine off while I was grocery shopping. My car was hit twice. Once, a vehicle drove the wrong way and struck the passenger side rear of my car. The second time, the same vehicle backed into my rear door and bumper. A shopper told me this but refused to provide their name or get involved. A Publix employee who was picking up abandoned grocery carts also witnessed the incident. It all happened so fast that no license plate information was obtained.
