My current rate is much more reasonable than other companies.

I worked for State Farm for 27 years. I don’t like change and I have stuck with them even after retirement. I don’t do much with my car insurance and just pay the prices. My problem would be with my homeowners after making changes to my house that I thought would lower my prices. It did not happen and I am quite disappointed about that because I put a lot of money out of my own pocket. Enough said.

I would recommend them based on their acceptance of customers, but the only thing is that it is much more expensive compared to other insurance companies.

Overall, I was trying to get quotes from several insurance companies. I had a third-party agent who contacted several insurance companies, but she wasn't able to find me a quote for less than $150 a month, which would be my monthly payment. That's crazy for an old car like my 1999 Honda Accord EX, and at the time, my car wasn't insured. So, I started my own search. I found State Farm, and let's just say I was able to get insured for less than $100. I paid that for 5 months. Before my birthday on February 1st, I called and spoke to an agent, and she was able to reduce my monthly payment to $47 and change.

I've been with them for about 4 years now. They are wonderful; if I have a problem, they help solve it really fast. The staff members are very kind, and for the payment, being with them for four years, I'm in a good place. A lot of other insurance companies cost more money, sometimes double or triple, so I'm happy with State Farm.

My agent is easy to get in contact with and has always been helpful with whatever questions or concerns I have had.

I left State Farm thinking perhaps I could find a better price, now that I don't drive as much. I switched to Progressive. Progressive offered me a great deal, but after signing with them, they began immediately to raise their rates. I contacted them and was told the original offer was a promotion and that it was described in the fine print. I have looked back several times and can find no fine print stating that. I will return to State Farm.

I've had my current car insurance company for over 30 years. They are okay. However, now that I'm retired and their prices keep going up, the fact that they are doing away with the defensive driving discount, and they don't offer any incentives for seniors or someone who doesn't drive as much, I had no choice but to switch companies. The new company will save me about $30.00 a month.

SF is quick to address claims, but like many other insurance companies, they are overpriced.

A horse and buggy hit my car, and they claimed it was my fault because it was not a motor vehicle. They considered my car totaled. The title is missing, so the claim is still open. It's been a year this month.

I'm paying almost $700 for a 6-month renewal, while other companies are displaying 6-month renewals as low as $175. Please tell me how this can be. At this point, I am thinking of going to insurance for veterans that give a better rate.

They claim you don't have the coverages you paid for when you're in an accident. They like to say that full coverage isn't a thing, yet when making the policy, it is.

I still have State Farm, but I'm looking for lower rates with full coverage! I received offers from Progressive, Allstate, and others using the same coverage specs, and prices were lower. I asked State Farm to review my rates and get them closer to the other car insurance offers. So far, I've not received any better offers.

Rates and quotes are too high.

Premiums continue to go up even though I have no claims and drive less each day.

They are using claims from towing against me as well as existing information that they knew prior to giving me a policy. They also refused to give me a refund when I turned in my plates and provided proof. I had no car on the policy, and they wouldn't tell me what credit I had when I added a new car.

Prices are too high. Inoperable cars shouldn't be charged, or at least the rates should be lowered. I'll be in contact soon about these issues.

The folks at the State Farm office are awesome. However, the insurance is way too expensive.

I have State Farm and I have full coverage. They offered me a roadside assistance package for free. However, because I used it 5 times over several years, they are dropping me as a customer. So they give me a package for free, and I use it, and now I'm being punished for it. Really great, State Farm.

State Farm is okay. You never hear from them until it is payment or renewal time. I have not had a claim in a very long time. They are expensive, and I will change if I get a better price.

State Farm has changed a lot since big losses with forest fires and hurricane losses in California and Florida. They "established" their claims department as a separate profit center, and claims are difficult to get done. Home insurance is also very difficult as well. As an example, five homes around my home have had their roofs replaced due to hail damage. I have been with them for thirty years, and the company is not the same. Profits are driving all decisions! Getting quotes to change.

To add a second vehicle, the price increased, and they are always trying to upsell.

Overpriced. Exorbitant policy renewal rates. No new policies offered for Homeowners, Renters, Earthquakes, and Personal Liability. Bundle all insurance needs.

Overpriced. Not accepting new applicants for auto, homeowners, renters, earthquake, and personal liability insurance policies for residents of California. The only way to get the best possible insurance price is to bundle several policies with the same insurance company at the time of purchase.

State Farm is terrible. They raise your rates and then refuse to tell you why when asked. They also won’t return your calls regarding the rate increase.

Watch your agent. He quoted me one thing and charged me another, even after we went over my coverage before I paid.

They were good at first. I've been with them for many years, but their rates keep going up. I started paying $260 for two cars with full coverage and a $250 deductible, but then it went up to $360. So I adjusted it back down to $280, and now it’s back up to $306. I'm definitely going to get another insurance company.

With 2 autos covered, if you cancel one for 1 day and then reinstate it, you are penalized for the remainder of the term.

Poor response to billing questions. It takes a week to get answers. Charged a late fee when no bill was received.

We are having issues with billing. They can't seem to get all our policies together on one bill, and our bill just keeps going up. I love Seria; she is wonderful and does the best she can. I believe it is the computer system that is the biggest issue.

Agents never notify you when documents are expiring. I was charged a higher premium due to not providing the documents in a timely manner.

They increase prices on some products. If you contact them about it, they never return your call to explain why the price increased. Then they send emails to try and get you to pay the premium. I get tired of paying higher premiums because someone else files claims somewhere across the country. That actually has nothing to do with me. Buy insurance somewhere else.

They misinformed us about the homeowners insurance, saying we would have to renew the policy every year. I called and asked if our insurance was okay, and the guy I spoke with said it was fine. Our heat pump caught on fire due to a power surge, and when we filed a claim a few days later, the adjuster called and said we no longer had insurance. Apparently, it was canceled on February 14th. We tried to go in person to fix it, but our agent was out, so another guy was working on it and said he was trying to get ahold of Dover Insurance. We never heard from him. We called the next day, but the agent was busy. The receptionist said she would have him call in a few minutes, and he finally called back at 3:40. By this point, we found car and homeowners insurance elsewhere, and it was significantly cheaper. They were totally useless when we were trying to get the insurance reinstated. Oh, and because it was canceled, it was going to be a huge price to get it back. State Farm totally and completely dropped the ball. Very disappointed with that agency.

The agents have all been top-notch since I was 16 years old. I went with Progressive for a few years but have come back to them. I'm 61, a retired crane/heavy equipment operator for 40 years. If you have any idea about the operation of machinery and the concentration it demands, that bleeds over to personal life decisions daily. I have had no accidents since 2003, no DUI or speeding tickets in I can't remember how long. I pay $393.12 a month.

In August, I had a slight fender bender that was not my fault, and no one at State Farm would help me until late November when I stopped in, once again, to see if the other party had filed a claim. A young man, whom I had never talked to before, told me we could file a claim ourselves. I was astounded, and within a month, it was settled.
