I spent an hour talking on the phone with a certified insurance agent who didn’t understand the concept of liability. After an hour on the phone, I was quoted a rate $9 per month lower than I had been paying. They had my car listed as a commute car, and I have been disabled and unable to work for the last 20 years. To make it even more special, they emailed me a quote for more than I had been paying. If they’re this bad at basic policy servicing, imagine their ineptitude handling an actual claim.

I am not happy with Progressive and the team they provided me with. I did not have the support I needed for my case. On top of that, my car is still not made whole. They haven't reimbursed me for my car rental fee, which is $1800, and the tire fee, which is $200, that one of their shops caused. I will be leaving Progressive after this case is closed because of the team I was assigned to, who didn't do their job to make it right for my car.

Too expensive. A 75-year-old widower with no accidents, no tickets, no DUI, and no claims is paying over $300 per month, which is totally ridiculous. Where are all these companies on Facebook and TikTok offering $39 per month for full coverage?

Progressive is the most expensive and offers the lowest coverage. Plus, their roadside service is unreliable when you need help.

Don't waste your money. They'll find any way possible to make extra money. I hit a ladder on the highway because it was either the ladder or another car, and I was made at fault by their underwriter, raising my premium. Then they added my husband, who I am legally separated from, onto my policy without my knowledge. I only found out after my premium went up $130 a month because he was arrested for a DUI, which has nothing to do with me. Then, in order to remove him, I had to make him an excluded driver by signing some paperwork and mailing it in, which makes no sense since we are legally separated and haven't lived together in years. Stay away, that's my advice.

I just got a new policy that costs me $225.00 less than my previous one. I am absolutely disappointed and upset that I was charged $404.00 per month. Outrageous!

They go back over 6 years for moving violations to increase rates and hold glass claims against you to raise the cost of premiums.

The premium is very high, and it's almost impossible to use the roadside service. Additionally, there is a fee involved. The service feels deceptive and overpriced.

The Snapshot program that is intended to get drivers discounts is fundamentally flawed. While I believe the intent of the Snapshot program is to encourage positive behavioral change, I find its execution—particularly the plug-in device with audible alerts—to be fundamentally flawed. My concerns focus on the audible alerts triggered during what the system classifies as “unsafe” driving events, most notably “hard braking.” During my participation in the program, I received multiple audible alerts attributed to hard braking. Upon reviewing the corresponding reports in the Snapshot mobile application, I observed that these alerts were recorded as hard-brake incidents. Because the application does not provide a data export function, I manually copied the event data to conduct my own review. In reviewing the overall data, approximately 90% of my recorded driving time resulted in a “Great job!” assessment within the application. Despite this, I was informed that my driving behavior placed me at risk for a premium increase. And yes, my premium has been increased despite having a clean and accident-free driving record.

Progressive started fine; it was the cheapest option but still seemed to have enough perks. However, there was no warning that the policy was about to expire and re-enroll, or more importantly, that the policy was going up in price. That's concerning.

My tip would be not to get Progressive - they raise your rates even when you have had zero accidents. Looking to switch ASAP.

At the beginning, they gave me a great quote, but after I accepted and paid my insurance upfront, they began to renege on the original offer. They first tried to upcharge me $1,500 more and asked me for 5 years of declaration pages from my former insurance. I had been with my former insurance for 15 years, and they gladly complied with my request to upload and send Progressive the information they asked for. Regarding the claim I had, I thought Progressive would have backed me since I feel that the incident was not my fault. I really have not had much customer service interaction with the company, as I have had no claims in the over three years I have been with them. I have called twice to see about lowering my monthly rate, but unless I want to change my coverage, there is no way. It's strange how my monthly rate keeps going up each month little by little. It started with my Jeep Cherokee. The first month the rate was $72, and three years later it was over $90 a month, and this was with no claims at all. Usually, the longer you have insurance through a company, the cheaper it is supposed to get. Progressive is not that type of insurance company. When you call and ask about the increase to your insurance, the company gives poor answers.

Progressive is a little cheaper than others; however, I've been with them for 4 years, and it seems my policy kept going up and not down like other companies do. Everything is automated. We appreciated the roadside assistance; we paid full price, and this was essential. We used them for a dead battery, and Progressive roadside service was excellent.

NYS has the highest premiums anywhere, despite a great driving record! I've had zero tickets since 1989, yet my premiums go up all the time. Progressive told me 3 years ago it was because of the payout costs. Either get a new accountant or make offenders pay what they owe, not on the low income! Please.

Stay away from Progressive! I have never had a ticket or a claim, and my policy went up from $160 to $238 monthly for my wife and me. Every 6 months, it increased drastically. After getting 15 different quotes, I found that Progressive is the most overpriced auto insurance on the market. After getting a new policy with Liberty Mutual, the Progressive agent wanted to see if they could find me savings. Those should’ve been offered to me before I switched. Also, I got twice the coverage through Liberty Mutual for right at half the cost of Progressive and their minimum coverage!
