I’m 90% happy with Progressive, and I’d say they’re one of the best insurance companies on the market today.

I would recommend them. I haven’t had a bad experience. However, they can be a bit pricey compared to other companies.

They’ve been good. I had an accident five years ago, and the claim was handled quickly. I only had issues with the shop that did the work—Caliber Collision in Bremerton, Washington. They were terrible and didn’t even fix the car correctly. They tried to blame me and make me file another claim through Progressive to fix what they never did. But Progressive has been great for the last six years.

Same as others: you maintain a perfect driving record with no claims, pay on time, and their appreciation is to raise your rates often for no legitimate reason.

Premiums in Fulton County are very expensive, and I haven’t had any accidents in many years. However, my soon-to-be ex-wife had an accident in 2023, and I’ve been told it doesn’t matter because it was a claim on my policy. I feel this should be charged to her, not to me. I’m 76 years old and haven’t had an accident in many years.

Despite having no accidents and no traffic citations, my insurance costs keep climbing. As a senior citizen with a good driving record and someone who does not violate traffic laws, it is unfair that my rates are what I consider high for a fixed income, and rates that increase periodically. There should be a discount for seniors with a clean driving record. This would be fair and good for business.

Don't use your real phone number while online shopping for car insurance. You will get many spam calls. Otherwise, I have enjoyed how easy and inexpensive Progressive has been. Their app is great and super easy to use!

There are special departments for everything, which makes communication difficult. After two years of being insured, unless bundled, no discounts have been offered or even a lower rate given. They want you to jump through hoops instead of focusing on customer retention.

First of all, they don't consider seniors or that a person has a good driving record. Most of all, I've never gotten tickets or a DUI—never even a parking violation—and I've been driving for over 60 years. I'm trying to find better insurance that considers seniors who drive safely, cares about seniors who live by themselves, and helps other seniors who are less fortunate. They should know that someday they’re going to be our age and will understand how sad it is to have to pay so much for car insurance. It feels like they’re trying to get rich off poor seniors, for a policy that other places charge $30.00 or even $40.00 for the same insurance they provide. Thank you. God bless.

Honestly, consider switching companies after your first six months because they raise your premium every time, even when nothing has changed besides inflation.

They make absolutely no effort to try to help you. It’s cut and dry: pay or get canceled. And the rate seems to be going up all the time!

They weren’t transparent about how they handled my claim and didn’t communicate the result. They closed the case and didn’t inform me. They also doubled my monthly rate.

I saw a lower rate for the same company, but they wouldn’t honor it. They said I would have to switch to the new rate before canceling my current policy.

Don’t get insurance through Progressive. Their customer service is awful, and they won’t work with you. If there’s a claim, they make you do it yourself.

A little difficult. I still don’t have any insurance through you. I’ve been trying for days to get through to the ones that are listed, and I’ve had nothing but problems. I enter all my info, and then there’s always an error or something happens. I haven’t been able to proceed with purchasing a policy, so I’m frustrated.

Premiums went from $1,000 to $1,300 to $1,800. I think they count on people being complacent so they can make more money. I’m dropping them and not renewing. Geico is offering a $1,100 premium for the same coverage.

The requirement for five years of proof of coverage is insane, and they were a real problem when it came to sending it because their website can only accept "x" bytes of info. So how do I know how much was transmitted? It was a nightmare! I think it was an attempt to discourage me from continuing.

They did an extreme upcharge once all of my pertinent information was processed. I expected an increase due to my current FICO score, but not triple.

Try to pay your policy for the entire year. Beware of sudden changes from the underwriters.

Car insurance in Georgia is very expensive—so much higher than in many other states, including California. Instead of helping senior citizens who drive considerably less than others, there don’t seem to be any discounts.

Overpriced, poor service, not customer-friendly, and it was difficult to schedule meeting times between the adjuster and the body shop without leaving my car, with no solid information or timeframe for when the adjuster would come to the shop.

Overall, I would rate Progressive as a fair company. The problem I have with them is that I’ve been with them for less than a year. I’m 75 years old, on SSI, my car is 21 years old and is driven less than 5 miles a day, with no claims and no tickets, and my insurance has jumped from $48 a month when I started for the first 6 months to now $99 a month, which feels unreasonable. I would like to stay with Progressive, but not if they’re going to keep increasing my rates every six months.

Choose something else.

They let my insurance expire without letting me know. It happened on July 18, 2026 because of an issue with my ID or driver’s license, so I wasted my money. Definitely not recommended.

Make sure they include the discounts you’re entitled to, and make sure those discounts are standard across the board with the other large-name insurers. Every year with them, the cost goes up. The representative I tried to speak with online was rude, and I actually mistook them for AI because of the responses to my questions. Before them, I was with my previous insurance company for 10+ years and wish I had stayed. You get what you pay for, and that explains everything with this insurance company. Progressive will manipulate what you say to deny a claim. They refused to contact any witnesses you may have. The only positive was the price. I’m filing a bad-faith claim against Progressive.

For a rental car, you have to pay for it upfront, and then they reimburse you.

Don’t waste your time—Progressive can’t be trusted. Progressive will increase your rates after you make your first monthly payment. They use a classic bait-and-switch tactic immediately after agreements have been made.
