It's a good insurance company. Now, every insurance is pricey. I haven't had any issues with them, so I would recommend it to my friends.

When I filed a claim last year, they were very helpful and communicated everything, making the whole process simple and easy to understand. My only issue was that my policy kept increasing. My policy renewed every 6 months, and during that time, my policy increased by $75. They couldn’t really explain why, other than mentioning the claim I had a year ago, but that shouldn’t have affected me in these recent 6 months. So I switched policies.

Progressive is an excellent company. I have no complaints. Customer service is awesome. Their rates are pretty reasonable. I recommend using them.

Make sure you have all claims for drivers. It has a significant effect on premiums. Also, have good credit and a good driving history.

Look at what you get for the money and compare it to other insurance companies.

Run your quote multiple times on random days because sometimes it's as low as $81, other times it's $125. I pay $118, but when I ran it again, it said $81.

Progressive has always had the absolute best customer service around. They are quick to respond and have always had fair pricing. I am almost 40 and felt I have been overpaying for insurance for a long time. This did cause me to shop around. It’s very awesome to be able to have lowered my monthly payment so much, finally, and be able to stay with Progressive. However, it is very much a shame that they didn’t already offer me this low rate. I have been a customer of theirs for years and always tend to come back. Occasionally it seems necessary to shop around to be able to lower my rate. And I have noticed every time my policy is coming up for renewal, no matter whom I am with, the rates just always seem to go up, even with a clean driving record and a great credit score.

Ask for all discounts. Research each insurance company you quote with. Make sure you are comparing the same coverage levels.

Lowest rate at the time.

I've been with Progressive for about 17 years, and everything has always gone fine. I've never had a problem.

Great company so far. I had State Farm before, but they kept increasing the price. It's better now.

Progressive uses Early Warning Services LLC, and for that reason, we are changing insurance companies. The people at Progressive are great, and I do not recall a bad incident, but they are not for me when having to insure a fleet of vehicles. But still a great company.

I think they’re very professional. They answer all my questions, and I don’t have to try for hours to get ahold of someone. The only thing I dislike is the price, and I think that after each year with no accident claims, clients should receive a reimbursement check.

There are multiple locations, and I receive messages from more than one office, which is a bit concerning. It's confusing to have multiple contacts who are not on the same page.

You have to call to check for discounts. They don't give them unless you request them.

The only thing I don’t like about Progressive is how extremely long it’s taking for my accident claim to be addressed, and the communication with the claims adjuster has been very poor. I haven’t heard from her at all, and the representative I did speak to was trying to be helpful, but I still have many questions she obviously can’t answer. It’s just frustrating.

When I first decided to use Progressive as my car insurance, I was very pleased with the service. But when it came time to renew in July 2026, I was completely thrown off guard by the customer service I received. My insurance premiums (I had both my home and vehicle insured through Progressive) increased significantly, to the point that I was forced to look at other companies. This whole situation with Progressive has been very frustrating and disappointing. I don’t understand or agree with how they treated me when my renewal time approached. I wasn’t looking to change companies, but I basically had no choice. It’s unfortunate because I thought Progressive was trustworthy and a solid choice, but they were rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional, which was very disappointing. Thank you.

They lie about your member status, telling you one thing on the phone but something else in the app. They change things fairly often with little to no notice to the customer. They also seem to try to sneak in hidden charges until they’re caught, and quite recently I was basically told “too bad” when I said I didn’t want to wait on hold. It feels like a runaround with very few answers or clarification. I will never have my auto insurance with them again.

They just take my money. I haven’t had any tickets, accidents, or incidents in over a decade, and they still won’t give me a discount.

I had two vehicles insured with Progressive. When I dropped one vehicle, my premium almost doubled. They said I lost the multi-vehicle discount. Not good.

Never again! They quoted a good price. My first payment was correct, and I also signed up for autopay. My next monthly payment was over $300, with no notice. When I called, they said they didn’t know why it was so high. They did say my ex-wife was on my account—we’ve been divorced for almost five years—and that my son was also on my account. He lives in another city and has his own insurance with another company. No explanation and no credit back to me. There was an unexpected withdrawal from my account that I didn’t have the funds for. I’m a disabled veteran and make very little money.

Geico is 10 times better than Progressive. I got car and rental coverage for cheaper than Progressive.

I found a very decent price with State Farm, and I will never use Progressive again. My renewal increased my price by $160, and I’m very disappointed with Progressive.

Poor communication. No paperwork for the vehicle and no bill for the monthly payment—nothing. I don’t know if I’m insured or not. You can only text online; there’s no voice or phone access.

I'm not very pleased with the price. Despite my age, they are using at least one accident I was involved in, even though I was not at fault.

My husband and I have car insurance with Progressive Insurance. At first, it was great. In January of 2026, we paid $509 for 6 months for 2 cars. When we added another, of course, it went up a little bit, which was expected. Then we added a 4th car, and it went up again, which was also expected. After that, we got a notice stating that our insurance was about to be canceled due to us not providing proof of garaging. I had never heard of giving proof of garaging. Then they added my mother-in-law to our policy because we had to stay with her for 2 weeks to help her due to her having surgery. I tried explaining to Progressive that we were not living with her but were just there for 2 weeks to help her out. Then they wanted a copy of her driver's license, and without thanking us, they added her. To my surprise, it went up again, and mind you, her address was different from ours on the license. So, including the $509 for 6 months, we ended up having to pay an additional payment every month. At the end of those 6 months, we ended up paying $4000 for 4 cars and for 2 additional people that were added to our policy that we didn’t ask to be added. When my mother-in-law's license expired, I had to take her off our policy, and the payment went up again for dropping her from our policy. I'm sorry, but that is really frustrating. I want my money back.

Be careful with the selections you make for your coverage and claims. Ensure that they are covered, as they might appear on your record even if they are not covered.

I'm with Progressive and for the price, I feel like I'm paying for the agent's price plus way more than I should be!

Started out at a good rate. I used their plugin to show I was a good driver and drove only 3,600 miles a year, yet my rate more than doubled in 2 years. No claims, tickets, or anything negative about my driving record. I should have paid no more than $150 for 6 months.

Progressive took 4 months to handle my claim from start to finish. The claims representative lied to me and told me it was because parts were on backorder, but the shop was done with the repairs in 2 months. Then I was told that they paid the shop electronically, but I know the owner. He said they sent a check. They also recently canceled my policy because I added a vehicle within 30 days of starting a new policy, then told me it was a state rule. The problem is they are the cheapest option, so I have no choice but to use them or pay a lot more.

Unhappy with the service in regards to the company policies as far as being flexible with customer needs. They have fair products but are extremely overpriced and never consider individual circumstances.

The single worst claim experience I have ever had. It took almost two weeks, and they sent me incorrect valuation/estimate reports on four different occasions, including once where I was sent a report for an entirely different customer.

They kept adding money to my bill secretly every month, thinking I wouldn’t notice. When I finally called them out, they said it was some fee (I had no accidents or anything) and refused to lower my bill, so I switched to State Farm.

Could be a lot cheaper. They don't update the policy when incidents fall off.

Progressive gives a low rate to get you, then doubles the rate for the next 6 months with no changes in driving record. BEWARE!

I would say that it’s way too expensive considering that thankfully I’ve never had a claim against any car insurance company, my age, and the amount of miles that I tend to drive.

It was horrible. My daughter-in-law was driving our truck, and a car pulled up behind her and hit the trailer hitch. They tried to claim we hit them. After the police report proved otherwise, they tried to harass us over the claim. No one followed up with us. The people ended up paying for the damages, and then we were notified the policy was canceled. I’ll never deal with Progressive again.

They quoted me one price and then charged a completely different one.

They canceled my policy because there is a toolbox on my truck. They said it is a business truck. It is not a business truck and not registered as a business.

Your rate increased without warning.

I'm tired of them constantly increasing my insurance. The price keeps getting higher and higher. I've been with them for over 10 years. I'm retired now and I don't drive as much as I used to. If I drive 100 miles in a week, that's a lot for me. Where is the discount for that? None available. So now I drive less and I pay more.

The price is too high for a 16-year-old car and a driver over 55.

I work from home and drive 50 or fewer miles a week. Plus, my car is old. In my opinion, their price is too high. It turns out to be about $60 a month for a 6-month policy that I pay in full (versus monthly payments). Instead of giving me discounts for no tickets and safe driving, the renewal policy price goes up every 6 months.

I have never received my policy, though I did get my paper ID card. The agent did not follow through to help me get the policy.

The insurance company added random people to my policy, which quadrupled my payment. I got them to remove these people, but my payment is still doubled!

No integrity, incompetent. Long story short, I made changes to my recent policy before the start of the effective date. I returned all requested documents by fax the same day I received them. Not having received the new policy by the renewal date, and to avoid losing coverage, I paid for the policy without the changes in full and was told the amount I would be reimbursed. Yet, the changes were never processed. After multiple calls, each agent saw, as I did in my account, that they had received the documents and submitted an urgent request to process the changes and my reimbursement ASAP. After 3 months, and through one dedicated agent, a new policy was finally processed, but it was still incorrect and an incorrect refund was issued. I'm still fighting. Now it's time for renewal and they've sent a renewal policy which is still incorrect. FYI, do not change policies, cancel them and create a new one.

Overall, it’s okay. For the amount you pay, you can find another car insurance that is a lot cheaper with the same coverage. They don’t really offer that many discounts.

Price increase on first renewal.

Progressive canceled my policy without telling me because they needed a picture of my normal F250 pickup. I had to pay fines and higher insurance due to Progressive's lack of communication.

I have been with them for a long time, no accidents, no tickets, and my rate was raised again at the beginning of the year to $122.00 a month. That's ridiculous. I will be dropping them very shortly.

Every renewal my rate went up. Every time I asked, it was blamed on industry trends, inflation, or whatever excuse they could come up with. The last call I had with them before deciding to switch, I was inquiring about my new teen driver. When I wanted to add them to the policy, they said just the fact of me calling would now automatically add them to the policy, and I had no choice but to add them because my state requires it. After the call, I found out that is not true. It's a misrepresentation. Progressive doesn't allow it because of some laws in my state.

I drive about 15 miles a week sometimes, and some weeks not that much! I have a 2017 Toyota Corolla bought new. It has 16,200 miles, no tickets or accidents. I pay almost $90.00 a month, which is way too much!

They are not helpful if you have their app and don't use a phone holder. I called them and let them know that it was showing phone usage when I wasn't using my phone. I even had video from a rider as evidence because I don't have a phone holder. They said that was my problem and it's in the policy that a phone holder is required. I looked and don't see it in the policy, and they doubled my rates.

Representatives I talked to have been rude and dismissive. They blame you even for accidents which are not your fault. Their premiums are too high and then their deductible makes it like you don't even have coverage.
