I'm happy with my lower rates. The only thing I don't like is when an animal darts out in front of your car and you have to quickly slam on the brakes to avoid hitting it on a well-traveled road—the tracker that's plugged in chirps like you're a bad driver. We have no control over when an animal darts out in front of our cars.

They seem pretty straightforward. I do think it’s unnecessary to have my rates increased just because I no longer have multiple policies. I’m trying out the Snapshot tool for the first time, but I already think it’s not going to work for me based on some things it will dock you for that I have to do. But I guess we’ll see. They do seem to be the cheapest out of everyone so far.

They raised my rates without talking to me and sent me a letter as a warning. Customer service is terrible. They paid out a claim that we wanted to fight. The agent never talked to the police during the entire process. All I’ve ever seen is rate increases, even after being with them for over 15 years. And if you own an older car, they won’t fix it—they’ll only total it.

I recently switched from Progressive because they constantly raised my rates. And if you actually file a claim, it can be a hassle. They pushed direct payment to my wife even though she requested they pay the body shop. The payment didn’t cover the full cost of repairs. I also had a claim where payment was supposed to go directly to the body shop, and they tried the same thing with me. Four months after the car was repaired, the body shop called and said Progressive still hadn’t paid them and told them they had paid me. After several calls, I finally got it straightened out. Long story short, I wouldn’t recommend Progressive if you think you’ll ever need to file a claim.

I called several times and left messages with Drive Insurance but didn’t get a callback. I finally got hold of them, but I had to call again.

There are special departments for everything, which makes communication difficult. After two years of being insured, unless bundled, no discounts have been offered or even a lower rate given. They want you to jump through hoops instead of focusing on customer retention.

First of all, they don't consider seniors or that a person has a good driving record. Most of all, I've never gotten tickets or a DUI—never even a parking violation—and I've been driving for over 60 years. I'm trying to find better insurance that considers seniors who drive safely, cares about seniors who live by themselves, and helps other seniors who are less fortunate. They should know that someday they’re going to be our age and will understand how sad it is to have to pay so much for car insurance. It feels like they’re trying to get rich off poor seniors, for a policy that other places charge $30.00 or even $40.00 for the same insurance they provide. Thank you. God bless.

Honestly, consider switching companies after your first six months because they raise your premium every time, even when nothing has changed besides inflation.

They make absolutely no effort to try to help you. It’s cut and dry: pay or get canceled. And the rate seems to be going up all the time!

I saw a lower rate for the same company, but they wouldn’t honor it. They said I would have to switch to the new rate before canceling my current policy.

Don’t get insurance through Progressive. Their customer service is awful, and they won’t work with you. If there’s a claim, they make you do it yourself.

Try to pay your policy for the entire year. Beware of sudden changes from the underwriters.

Car insurance in Georgia is very expensive—so much higher than in many other states, including California. Instead of helping senior citizens who drive considerably less than others, there don’t seem to be any discounts.

Overall, I would rate Progressive as a fair company. The problem I have with them is that I’ve been with them for less than a year. I’m 75 years old, on SSI, my car is 21 years old and is driven less than 5 miles a day, with no claims and no tickets, and my insurance has jumped from $48 a month when I started for the first 6 months to now $99 a month, which feels unreasonable. I would like to stay with Progressive, but not if they’re going to keep increasing my rates every six months.

They let my insurance expire without letting me know. It happened on July 18, 2026 because of an issue with my ID or driver’s license, so I wasted my money. Definitely not recommended.

Make sure they include the discounts you’re entitled to, and make sure those discounts are standard across the board with the other large-name insurers. I think I have too much coverage considering my car is paid off, yet they don’t bother to counsel me on how to save money. Of course, that would reduce their profit.
