My current insurance company gave me a better rate for the same coverage. I had no problems with Progressive. I do not know anything regarding the new company except they gave me a better rate.

You have to call to check for discounts. They don't give them unless you request them.

Good deal in price, more than half of my old insurance. I even got car and apartment insurance for less. So far, it’s good.

No tickets or accidents in over 15 years, but still pricey.

Good insurance, and when or if you file a claim, they are fast about getting a claims adjuster to your house. You get your money pretty quickly.

Good. Insurance went up without any accidents or tickets. I pay enough as it is.

I was charged $10.00 for canceling my old policy with Progressive and found a cheaper rate with another broker, again with Progressive. When I called Progressive to make sure my old policy was canceled and my new policy went into effect on 5/1/26, the agent I spoke with said I needed to pay a $10.00 cancellation fee. He said it was a new policy with Progressive! So I paid with my debit card and gave him all my info, including my CVV code. A day later, I had all these fraudulent charges amounting to almost $1,000 on my debit card! My bank was quick to notice and declined most of the charges, but again I'm inconvenienced waiting for my new card. I don't know if this incident with talking to the Progressive guy and giving him my debit card info has anything to do with the fraudulent charges on my account, but it sure is fishy that a day later after talking to him, this happens! He even sent me a receipt of $10.00 to my email! Was this legitimate? Do you guys charge $29.00 to cancel policies? If not, you owe me a refund and you better check out more carefully the people that supposedly work for your company!

Overall, my experience has been good for the last 5 years. They handled a claim when a garbage truck hit my parked car. The city insurance wanted to total my car, but Progressive paid to have it fixed. That was nice. I think they're fairly overpriced like most insurance, but they were the cheapest I found.

Don't use Snapshot. The algorithm isn't based in reality and will likely result in your rate going up.

We only had one major issue with Progressive. The plug-in device that monitors driving wasn’t compatible with my car and short-circuited the electrical system. It cost us a lot of money, time off work, and many diagnostic tests to find what was causing my car’s issues. We were told by the mechanic to remove the devices so as not to cause more issues after we had the car repaired. Other than that, no big issues.

The thing I do not care for is that the car insurance and renters insurance are two separate departments. I would rather have it bundled together like they advertise.

State Farm is 50% less!

I feel that even with loyalty, there aren't many discounts on renewal with State Farm. I remember every 2 years I would get a huge discount for not having claims.

The rates are too high for old cars, but because I've been with them for a while, it's cheaper than starting with a new company.

I'm not super happy about my premium going up. I haven't had a ticket in years and haven't had an accident in 15 or 20 years. I drive less than 30 miles a week. I bought my car new in 2021 and still only have 26,500 miles on it. I know going up $7.00 isn't a lot, but when you're on a fixed income, it matters.

I have both home and auto insurance, and I’m very satisfied.

I'm an excellent driver, so I really haven't had any issues with them. I pay my monthly bill, and that's it.

With Progressive, I had no warning that my policy was canceled until I looked it up myself. That’s the main issue I have with them.

Provide a truthful premium cost when you don’t drive many miles per day.

You sign up and get a good rate, but after 6 months, your rates go back up again. So don't bother to switch.

The customer service is very good. I was able to get a good understanding of what I was purchasing.

I've not had to file a claim. Any interaction with agents has been in regard to reducing my premiums. Going paperless, choosing minimum coverage, and/or bundling were the options. It is way too expensive and very few benefits are granted for loyalty.

Very good, but at 92 and with the current economy and Social Security, finances are a serious problem.

I work from home and drive 50 or fewer miles a week. Plus, my car is old. In my opinion, their price is too high. It turns out to be about $60 a month for a 6-month policy that I pay in full (versus monthly payments). Instead of giving me discounts for no tickets and safe driving, the renewal policy price goes up every 6 months.

I have never received my policy, though I did get my paper ID card. The agent did not follow through to help me get the policy.

$262 monthly for a 2015 car and 2020 Tahoe is much too expensive.

Without any claims, Progressive is constantly increasing the payments.

The insurance company added random people to my policy, which quadrupled my payment. I got them to remove these people, but my payment is still doubled!

No integrity, incompetent. Long story short, I made changes to my recent policy before the start of the effective date. I returned all requested documents by fax the same day I received them. Not having received the new policy by the renewal date, and to avoid losing coverage, I paid for the policy without the changes in full and was told the amount I would be reimbursed. Yet, the changes were never processed. After multiple calls, each agent saw, as I did in my account, that they had received the documents and submitted an urgent request to process the changes and my reimbursement ASAP. After 3 months, and through one dedicated agent, a new policy was finally processed, but it was still incorrect and an incorrect refund was issued. I'm still fighting. Now it's time for renewal and they've sent a renewal policy which is still incorrect. FYI, do not change policies, cancel them and create a new one.

Overall, it’s okay. For the amount you pay, you can find another car insurance that is a lot cheaper with the same coverage. They don’t really offer that many discounts.

Price increase on first renewal.

Progressive canceled my policy without telling me because they needed a picture of my normal F250 pickup. I had to pay fines and higher insurance due to Progressive's lack of communication.

I have been with them for a long time, no accidents, no tickets, and my rate was raised again at the beginning of the year to $122.00 a month. That's ridiculous. I will be dropping them very shortly.

Every renewal my rate went up. Every time I asked, it was blamed on industry trends, inflation, or whatever excuse they could come up with. The last call I had with them before deciding to switch, I was inquiring about my new teen driver. When I wanted to add them to the policy, they said just the fact of me calling would now automatically add them to the policy, and I had no choice but to add them because my state requires it. After the call, I found out that is not true. It's a misrepresentation. Progressive doesn't allow it because of some laws in my state.

I drive about 15 miles a week sometimes, and some weeks not that much! I have a 2017 Toyota Corolla bought new. It has 16,200 miles, no tickets or accidents. I pay almost $90.00 a month, which is way too much!

They are not helpful if you have their app and don't use a phone holder. I called them and let them know that it was showing phone usage when I wasn't using my phone. I even had video from a rider as evidence because I don't have a phone holder. They said that was my problem and it's in the policy that a phone holder is required. I looked and don't see it in the policy, and they doubled my rates.

Representatives I talked to have been rude and dismissive. They blame you even for accidents which are not your fault. Their premiums are too high and then their deductible makes it like you don't even have coverage.

Very poor service. They raised my rates from the initial payment. The quote was $50 and some change, but now it's $103 and some change monthly. There was no reason given for the change.

Be aware that even with a near-perfect driving record for over 50 years, no speeding violations, and no DUIs, an unfortunate parking lot bump while backing up caused my rate to double.

Make sure you read the small print, and don't expect your rates to remain the same. Even if you don't have any violations, they will still find ways to charge you more.

If you cancel, don't expect to get a refund for quite some time, even though they get paid immediately.

They charged me for people living in the same house who don’t drive my vehicle, even after I had paid the full policy amount.

They emailed me, telling me they had cheaper insurance for the next six months at $97, and then sent me a renewal at well over $100 per month. Later, when they saw I was looking for other insurance, they offered me a discount again. I did not ask how much because I don't want to do business with a company like this.

Hugo lets me pay at my pace and doesn't harass me with constant calls.

They started out with low rates. I used their device, which showed I was a good driver and drove less than 3,600 miles a year, yet my rate still doubled in less than 3 years.

They are ridiculously expensive. I’ve been using them for almost 10 years. Not one accident or moving violation, yet my rates have tripled. There's no excuse for this exorbitant price gouging.

I am not happy with the insurance. There are two small toolboxes installed on the back, and they canceled my policy saying it is a business vehicle. It is not! They see how I drive through the snapshot device; I drive once a month. Hardly a business vehicle.

So far, infinitely better than the 10 years I wasted with Progressive. Loyalty is not rewarded anymore; change policies frequently. Progressive is very lazy about fighting claims and would rather increase your rates and let anyone sue for anything.

Three years ago, when I was hit (hit and run), they were very helpful. They got me a rental efficiently and car repairs done, although the entire process took close to six months! But since then, prices have been a NIGHTMARE. I have never had an accident, ticket, or DUI. I can’t help how others drive, but my monthly payment has gone from $80 to over $155, and I only use the car maybe once a week, going 15-40 miles from home in a farming community, seeing more cows than people! Inflation is one thing, but unadulterated greed is another. I hate to be without insurance, but I am going to cancel … this is LUDICROUS. I am checking on new laws in NM now. Even $89/month seems too high for being parked six days out of seven!

Progressive means your rates will progressively go up. $300 in less than 3 years on my car. No tickets, no violations, no claims, yet my 6-year-old car insurance has increased $300 in less than 3 years.

I've been with them for a few years now, and you would think my bill would go down at least a little, especially with my record, but it only keeps going up! I'd leave them in a heartbeat if all the supposed search engines for insurance rates didn't always show the insurance you currently have as the best one.

I don’t recommend staying long-term unless you can't find anything cheaper. Ride it out for 3 months and then switch. They are very expensive from my experience. I switched to another insurance, and they let Progressive know. Suddenly, they made my payment $80 cheaper after a whole year. The other insurance still had them beat, but don’t ever stay loyal because these companies do not care.

They are misleading, trying to make multiple claims out of one incident and deciding not to renew over minimal expense, even though I pay regularly and am at no fault.

Be aware that they raise costs after 90 days.

I’ve had an extremely frustrating experience with Progressive Insurance and wouldn’t recommend them. While their gimmick advertising makes them seem friendly and affordable, the reality has been far different. The claims process was slow and poorly communicated. I had to follow up multiple times just to get basic updates. Customer service was another major disappointment. Representatives didn’t seem informed, and I was transferred several times without getting clear answers. It felt like no one was taking ownership. On top of that, my rates increased unexpectedly without a clear explanation. For a company that promotes transparency, this was frustrating and misleading. Overall, the lack of responsiveness, poor communication, and questionable pricing increase practices made this a very negative experience for a large insurance company.

They've increased my rate every renewal and refuse to budge even when I presented them with a new quote from them that was $15 lower than what I pay.

I don't like them. I was the victim of a significant amount of property damage from a driver insured by them. I thought it would be great because I've been a customer for decades. They treated me like I was lying because the driver gave me a false name. I've still not been reimbursed, but if that's how they treat the people they are supposed to make whole, I want out.

Do not get this insurance; they do not give you any discounts for having a clean driving record.

Progressive gave us the best rate. The policy was under my husband’s name, and they were wonderful. Everything was going well, and he had a couple of claims, so of course, the policy went up—that's to be expected. But then, for the next two years, it continued to keep going up with no more claims, just higher rates every renewal. We got it for six months. The amount was higher, so we did a quote with Progressive under my name, which lowered the rate by over $200. Everything was great again, no claims, and my rate started to go up. I’ve been with Progressive for three years now, and we’re currently paying $400 a month for two drivers and two cars. I’ve been looking at a lot of quotes, trying to find the best option for us, and I think we’re going with Allstate. This surprised me because I feel like the bigger names usually have a bigger price tag, but I can lower my deductible on Comprehensive. With Progressive, it was $500; with Allstate, the deductible for comprehensive would be zero dollars. Our deductible for collision through Progressive is $500, and through Allstate, the deductible would be $250. We also got added benefits for personal property, medical payments, and custom equipment, and the rate would be $140 less than what it was through Progressive! I will admit that Progressive would’ve gotten five stars for the first year, but due to the increasing rates, I’m rating them 2.5 to 3.

Being the best price doesn't mean that the service is that good. Yes, it serves a financial advantage, but it doesn't consider seniors who may have difficulties with their perpetual renewal price increases. They really couldn't care less and make every excuse as to why the prices increase.

They are very hard to contact by email. Supposedly, an email was sent with my ID card info for me to print, but I never received it after many tries.
