The rates are too high for old cars, but because I've been with them for a while, it's cheaper than starting with a new company.

I'm not super happy about my premium going up. I haven't had a ticket in years and haven't had an accident in 15 or 20 years. I drive less than 30 miles a week. I bought my car new in 2021 and still only have 26,500 miles on it. I know going up $7.00 isn't a lot, but when you're on a fixed income, it matters.

I have both home and auto insurance, and I’m very satisfied.

I'm an excellent driver, so I really haven't had any issues with them. I pay my monthly bill, and that's it.

With Progressive, I had no warning that my policy was canceled until I looked it up myself. That’s the main issue I have with them.

Provide a truthful premium cost when you don’t drive many miles per day.

You sign up and get a good rate, but after 6 months, your rates go back up again. So don't bother to switch.

I've not had to file a claim. Any interaction with agents has been in regard to reducing my premiums. Going paperless, choosing minimum coverage, and/or bundling were the options. It is way too expensive and very few benefits are granted for loyalty.

Rates are good so far. I was not happy that when my son and his wife temporarily moved in with me, they had their own car insurance but Progressive said I had to put them on my policy even though they never drive my car.

Progressive is a really good car insurance company, and this is not the first time I have used them. I found the people there to be honest and transparent. When I had an issue with a previous bank account at Charles Schwab, it was Progressive that informed me about the existence of the Early Warning Detection Services, LLC, which is a company collectively owned by major banks that can reject financial transactions without alerting the consumer. Shout out to the honesty of the people at Progressive who not only informed me but provided an address and phone number. Afterwards, they helped me set up the correct policy for my vehicle.

The gentleman I spoke with who handled my SXS policy provided the best customer service I have ever had with Progressive. All others I have dealt with were not so good. I am still upset that Progressive did not investigate the accident we were involved in. There were 4 cameras that saw the vehicle in front of us slam on his brakes for no reason, giving us no time whatsoever to stop. When I questioned the driver as to why he did that, he stated that he thought the vehicle two lanes from him was going to pull into his lane, which never happened. He then lied to the police when they showed up. The cameras prove what I'm saying, and yet Progressive never checked them. Completely unacceptable. Now we're paying extra for something that was not our fault at all.

It went very smoothly and I always appreciate that when it's unwanted and unexpected!

The good thing is that they are available when you have questions. The bad thing is when one of two cars is canceled. The difference was only 1 dollar lower on just one car, which made me think having a second full coverage car only cost a dollar. I did not understand getting charged for 2 cars for 2 months when I only had 1 car and the second was canceled. There was no reimbursement for the extra, and the difference in the premium was unclear.

Progressive had the most economical package for me.

I have had Progressive for many years. I have driven with the Snapshot on for several years. It does remind me about hard braking, etc.

Don't settle on a price with the first quote and definitely do NOT go to a local insurance agent. They include their fee for profit in the price. Do it over the phone nationally.

Among the best-priced options out there. Bundling is a must. However, I had a chip in my windshield filled to save myself and Progressive a more expensive windshield replacement. A mistake, Progressive now counts it as a claim even though it was only $75, and now I have to pay a higher premium. I should have made Progressive replace the windshield.

No matter how often I've wasted my time getting into these "lower your car insurance rate" deals, Progressive always winds up being the #1 recommendation. They charge about half what the others quoted.

Progressive gave us the best rate. The policy was under my husband’s name, and they were wonderful. Everything was going well, and he had a couple of claims, so of course, the policy went up—that's to be expected. But then, for the next two years, it continued to keep going up with no more claims, just higher rates every renewal. We got it for six months. The amount was higher, so we did a quote with Progressive under my name, which lowered the rate by over $200. Everything was great again, no claims, and my rate started to go up. I’ve been with Progressive for three years now, and we’re currently paying $400 a month for two drivers and two cars. I’ve been looking at a lot of quotes, trying to find the best option for us, and I think we’re going with Allstate. This surprised me because I feel like the bigger names usually have a bigger price tag, but I can lower my deductible on Comprehensive. With Progressive, it was $500; with Allstate, the deductible for comprehensive would be zero dollars. Our deductible for collision through Progressive is $500, and through Allstate, the deductible would be $250. We also got added benefits for personal property, medical payments, and custom equipment, and the rate would be $140 less than what it was through Progressive! I will admit that Progressive would’ve gotten five stars for the first year, but due to the increasing rates, I’m rating them 2.5 to 3.

Being the best price doesn't mean that the service is that good. Yes, it serves a financial advantage, but it doesn't consider seniors who may have difficulties with their perpetual renewal price increases. They really couldn't care less and make every excuse as to why the prices increase.

They are very hard to contact by email. Supposedly, an email was sent with my ID card info for me to print, but I never received it after many tries.

The name Progressive just means your car gets older, yet your cost progressively goes up. No tickets, no violations, no claims, and my rate went up on my car alone by $300 in less than 3 years.

They give a discount for the first 6 months, then they take it away, so your premium goes up.

I had my first claim in sixty-five years for under $1,000. What I went through was unbelievable. I bet I spoke with five or more agents to try and settle my claim. I finally said I was getting a lawyer, and they paid me. It went on for two months. I will never use them again and am switching companies.

After several years with Progressive and achieving a supposed "Platinum" customer status along with having zero claims, they are dragging their feet on paying a simple windshield glass claim and fighting paying for an OEM windshield for my top-of-the-line Honda CR-V that’s less than 3 years old. If you want an endless audible monitor in your car to qualify for discounts you've earned, then go with Progressive. I cannot stand the monitoring device. For example, if someone pulls out in front of you, stops short, or steps into traffic ahead of you and you brake harder than usual, you're penalized. I despise that. I should not be penalized for being a responsible driver. 48 years on the road, no accidents or violations, yet I'm monitored like a 2-month-old.

Need more accident forgiveness for no-fault accidents instead of raising the policy cost.

They provide good coverage most of the time, but they didn't cover a claim and raised my price, which I didn't think was right.

To start, I had minimum coverage for a very old car. Two incidents have happened since. I was a victim of a hit and run on the freeway, and Progressive denied my uninsured motorist coverage. I had to sue to get covered and get my car fixed and my medical injuries taken care of. They said they needed the information on the other car. It was a hit and run, there was no information. In the second incident, someone ran into me as I was backing out of my driveway. Although the person was speeding in a residential school zone, because I was moving at two miles per hour backing out of my gate, the law says I was at fault. That made no sense, and they did not provide respectable representation to address that. Now my insurance premium doubled this month. Welcome to the reality of Progressive Insurance. The ads do not represent the reality.

They have changed my price 3 times in one month. I have no idea why. I’m switching because I can’t get answers.

Awful experience. They raised rates over 36% for a small $1,000 property damage claim after having no accidents and being insured for over 6 years. They denied a claim for no reason. Terrible company.

Very bad about transparency. I was told if I decided against using their "tracking" device, it would change my cost by $100 for a year. When I decided it wasn’t for me, my rate went up $180.

Way too expensive for a perfect driving record.

Progressive is a very unforgiving insurance company. I was with them for 16 years, paid on time every month, and had no claims during that time. Then I had 2 claims in a year, and my insurance went up almost $200 a month. When I called customer service about it, the representative was rude and practically laughed at me. Every 6 months when the policy would renew, it would be a few dollars more, and I dealt with it, always asking myself why it went up and not down. I felt like a good, solid customer and a safe driver. Over the years, I have paid them more than they’ve paid out in claims. Probably shouldn’t have done the math on that.

My biggest problem is with your Snapshot program. It is fundamentally flawed, and I am qualified to state that since I was a major player in the development and implementation of driver safety programs. When insurance premiums are decreasing and you were forced to refund premiums to policyholders, my premium was increased. I am happy to say I am no longer insured with Progressive. My semi-annual premium for one vehicle was $740, and my new semi-annual premium for two vehicles, one being brand new, is $1100. The quote provided by Progressive for the two vehicles was $1296.

I pay more than I should have to pay! No accidents, no tickets, no DUIs, and my car is driven less than 15 miles a week. It is a 2017 Corolla bought brand new for a little over $16,000.

Great company but expensive. I have been looking around and found the same benefits for $800 less per year.

Price shop—Progressive is not the lowest. Customer service has declined over the past few years. When you call, they seem annoyed and push you to use the website or app in the future. Their product knowledge is poor as well. I’m switching companies after several issues.

After being insured with Progressive for nearly 8 years, they made my policy non-renewable due to hearsay from a repair shop in their network. This shop took 3 months to repair my vehicle after a deer hit it, and I had to take the vehicle back several times. I was not happy, but the manager at the repair shop claimed I threatened him, so Progressive canceled my policy.

Outrageous payments. My policy increases without notice or explanation. I am planning to change companies.

I pay $278 for just liability on a 2013 Nissan Murano. I think this price is ridiculously high.

Progressive gives you a good rate initially, then increases the rates upon renewal. I was persuaded to install a monitor in my truck to check my safe driving activity. Even though I had very few hard brakes and essentially zero fast accelerations, my rates went up because my history indicated I made too many short trips. I average about 8,000 miles per year driving in a small suburban area. Also, when my wife passed away and I removed her and her SUV from the policy, my premium rate increased by about 20%. Why did that happen? My wife's SUV accounted for about 60% of the miles driven. Additionally, when I try to reach my agent, it takes several phone calls to get through to her. I am very dissatisfied with Progressive.

They increased the price of my monthly payment even when I was found not at fault for the accident.

Don't go with Progressive. They keep raising my premiums $30-$40 per month every 6 months. I'm 59 years old and have never been in a wreck that was my fault, never filed a claim, don't speed, don't take off fast, don't tailgate, and never have anyone in my vehicle with me. If anything, my premiums should be going down.

I thought I had good coverage with Progressive until I got into an accident. Claims agents were nowhere to be found and never called me back. Then they said that the money ran out and if I had any medical bills, I would have to pay them on my own. I've never had that happen before with any other insurance company, but I hadn't even sent one bill in when they told me that there was no money to cover anything else. So I was stuck owing several thousand dollars worth of medical bills.

I have Snapshot installed to get a better discount. I tried to adhere to the requirements by keeping at the speed limit or slightly below. I had a few hard brakings due to cars either cutting in on me or almost hitting my car. But my new policy rate has increased by over $200.00. Snapshot has caused tailgaters, honkers, and one-finger salutes from passersby. If I remove Snapshot, I lose the discount they have given for having it installed. Useless, in my opinion.

I hit a fox, which knocked a headlight out, and I needed to have the bumper replaced. The fog lights were also damaged, totaling $1,700 in damages. I filed a claim but didn't receive anything except an increase in my insurance from $266 to $340.
