Is Farmers A Good Insurance Company? Reviews From Over 2,400 Customers

I have had a great experience with Farmers' customer service and so on. However, my insurance has slowly increased to over $400 a year, despite having no tickets and only one no-fault accident (a hit & run). I'm just trying to save money.

I loved this great company.

I tried to reach a representative but have not heard back. I believe I qualify for low mileage auto insurance. They came through when I had water damage from a leak under my sink. They also handle my house insurance, but I don't know much about it. I've been widowed for three years and my husband used to handle all of that.

Everything was wonderful. I would be willing to pay double the premium if they would continue to insure me.

Beware of surprise rate increases.

I've had my car insurance paid through my employer for over 18 years. To sum it up quickly, my company recently switched to Farmers, which is by far the worst insurance policy I've ever had. Despite having no accidents or claims in eighteen years, this company constantly raises the rates for no apparent reason and won't even cover a tow for more than two blocks. I could go on about how dissatisfied I am, but instead, I'll just look for insurance elsewhere.

They have no customer service. I couldn't get them to discuss reducing my insurance.

Why did my rate increase by 77%?

My premiums skyrocketed this past year. I had no accidents or violations, and my car is a year older.

After the accident, they tripled my rates.

I asked her why my insurance rate increased and she informed me that it was because I called for roadside assistance twice. Also, my daughter had an accident over three years ago. The double down payment is way too high. I have a car that was totaled due to the other driver's fault, and you guys are making me renew my policy on that vehicle while the paperwork is getting completed. We are not even able to drive the car. This seems like I am paying a down payment for nothing. The car was covered at the time of the accident and does not need coverage for the next 6 months.

Stop overcharging customers like me who have no auto or home claims. I am tired of paying for other people's mistakes so that insurance companies can make a profit. Others have choices about how they drive or where they live, just as I do.

We have been customers of Farmers for literally over 40 years and have had several agent changes. We also insure our home with Farmers. I am unable to understand why the insurance for my 2009 Mini Cooper is so high.

My agent called me the day after I had a terrible experience with my car breaking down on a busy intersection in Las Vegas in 114-degree weather. I did nothing to cause this breakdown and walked to a safe place to prevent heat exhaustion. I was unable to find the correct number for roadside assistance and called my agent numerous times just for the phone number. My agent reported that he heard my frantic phone messages and ignored all of them because it was 4:30 pm. The next day, my agent phoned me and was angry at me for bothering him with such petty concerns at 4:30pm. He threatened to dismiss me as a client and drop my towing insurance. The conversation was difficult to listen to and very concerning. The towing experience was not great either. The driver's ETA kept changing, he did not answer any of my phone calls, and the sheriff ordered a tow as the vehicle was blocking traffic. The car was towed to Quality Towing. The Farmer's driver never called me back and never showed up. I had to pay $540 to release my vehicle. I feel like I am not the customer with Farmers, in fact it feels just the opposite.

I wouldn't recommend them. After 20 years of home property insurance, they dropped us.

They don't offer paperless billing. They send me notices about payment due two weeks early, even though they automatically deduct it.

I was hung up on 10 times in a row. My rate doubled in one month. When I finally reached someone, they didn't understand what I was trying to accomplish. I switched companies.

I had an extremely minor accident where I bumped the car in front of me. The bolts on my front license plate dented the plastic on the other vehicle. Now, I'm being penalized over $100 for this minor accident. I could understand my insurance going up this much if I had a major accident, but I didn't.

They charge more money than other insurance companies for the same coverage. Other insurance companies are a lot better than Farmer.

For a 6-month installment plan, the payment is 2 months upfront, then monthly. My rate was increased. I couldn't pay all because of the fees but managed over time. Now, they're asking for a one-time payment of $1,040 upfront for coverage. I've had no claims and have been with them for over 10 years. If I can't make the monthly payments, how am I supposed to come up with that? I don't recommend them.

Don't use them! They lack flexibility in coverage. I wanted basic liability (PIP only), but they wouldn't drop comprehensive and collision.

I'm not satisfied with this company. My payments have significantly increased since I've been with them for less than two years. I'm almost 61 years old, have no accidents and no tickets that were my fault. There's a pothole claim, and almost five years ago, there was a hit and run by a semi and a vandalism report. That's all they've ever paid out, and I'm not happy with how they're treating me.

It used to be better. Now, they demand two months' payment in advance to renew your policy, and it doesn't even add up to two months' worth. It's become too expensive.

I'm upset that you lured me away from Geico, only to cancel me within the first 30 days.

Truly awful. After my policy was switched from MetLife to Farmers, I experienced nothing but problems. The worst of which was when I notified them of my 2023 car, purchased new, they never added collision to my policy which previously covered a 16-year-old car. I kept asking why the premium was remaining so low and it took them 6 months to figure out that collision hadn't been added. It was actually me who finally pointed it out to them. They have the worst trained employees I have ever encountered across all industries, including McDonald's.

It's vastly overpriced for what you get.

It's hard to work with them since there's no local agent. I have to use a computer or phone to reach their staff.
