I liked this company very much. However, when I purchased a new car, the rates were extremely high and they couldn't explain why when asked. After calling around, other insurance companies were $50-$100 cheaper, so I switched. I now have full coverage for $128 a month, while they wanted $220 for the exact same coverage. So, I switched.

A little high.

They raised my premium by over $25 without any notification or a 30-day notice, and without explaining why. There was no courtesy call or the option to negotiate. I feel that all the insurance companies, including Progressive, Farmers, Allstate, and State Farm, are price gouging. This is ridiculous. I need to know my options; my renewal date is Oct 1. What a birthday present to me!

All insurance has become very expensive.

I am glad that I found this company. The checkout process was a bit confusing, and I couldn't remove an item. However, their online support was able to sort it out for me.

They denied my claim for hailstone damage to my roof several years ago. We were the only homeowners in our entire subdivision whose homeowners policy insurer denied their claim. Later, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Farmers was one of the last insurers to reduce their premiums as a result of the “Stay at Home” policy adopted by the CDC. Now they have increased their premiums once again.

I can't get anyone to work with me about my policy.

They responded quite quickly, only to inform me that they couldn't satisfy my claim. Since they couldn't assess the damage done, they were unable to contribute towards fixing the major problem in my home.

I appreciated Farmers for many years while the policy was managed by 21st Century. However, when it was handed over to Toggle with the assurance that nothing would change for existing customers, this proved to be false. I particularly enjoyed a discounted rate for signing up for autopay. Despite having autopay, I was still able to make my payments directly before the due date and even pay more than what was due. I enjoy rounding up my bills. For instance, if the due amount was $67.43, I would round the payment up to $68.00. After receiving my payment, I would get an update on my policy balance due that reflected the extra $0.57 I had paid. When Toggle took over, they stopped allowing prepayments of any kind. A mailed payment is first cashed, and then a refund check is issued for the same amount. However, before receiving the refund and depositing it back into my account, the autopayment would be deducted! Despite my regular objections to this policy change, Toggle refuses to allow early payments. I believe this falls directly on Farmers for allowing them to dictate policy changes. Additionally, although it's partly my fault, I drive a very small number of miles annually. During my last policy renewal, I failed to send in a mileage update. Instead of the new policy listing the estimated mileage as the national average (as was done by 21st Century), the new estimate was equal to three times the national average. This is despite a review of my record showing I drive only about a quarter of the miles for the national average. As a result, my new policy payment went from $68 to $110 per month, almost doubling!

I just compared rates and found some that are one-fifth of what I'm currently paying.

Farmers is highly commercialized and was good, but over time the premiums have consistently risen. They never reduced their premiums and I am very unhappy, even though I have been with them since 2019.

Farmers was suitable for me until they decided to increase my rate and then informed me about an additional surcharge. Insurance companies are already making enough money without the need to overcharge customers. Due to this, I will not be a returning customer.

I didn't know my agent had left in May until I couldn't contact him in November. The Farmer's office took four days to contact me with an explanation about him.

I was overcharged for my homeowner policy. The agent refuses to remove an HOA policy charge. I own my home outright and have never been a member of any HOA. He refused to refund it and does not communicate in any way, no calls, texts, or emails. The app randomly indicates that I am a passenger when I live alone and am the only person ever to drive the car. I received no response again. I feel ripped off and frustrated.

Farmers uses a third-party service for internet payments. I used it and received a confirmation number, but the payment was never debited from my checking account. For the past six months, I thought I had car insurance, but I didn't. Now, it's going to cost me a lot to add to my new policy.

Stay away from Farmers. Their integrity is questionable and their customer service is awful.
