Call the company back to confirm anything that was told to you on a first phone call. I was told by one representative that my policy covered rental cars, but when I was involved in an accident and had to rent a car, I was told that it was not covered and I had to pay for the rental myself.

I have been happy with Allstate home and auto insurance. Unfortunately, my homeowners insurance went up quite a bit this year. I'm checking for less expensive insurance, but past experience shows me that a new insurance company will have a lower rate, then at renewal, prices are increased.

Allstate was good until the rates got too high.

The price of insurance started very reasonably when I began my car, pickup, and home insurance. In fact, I got the $250 deductible cheaper than my old policy with a $500 deductible. After the first 6 months, my auto insurance jumped over $50/month. I finally had to change my policy to a $1000 deductible to get my payments close to the original amount. I traded my 2019 pickup for a new 2025 model, and the insurance coverage is much cheaper on the new pickup than my wife’s 2019 Lexus RX, which is worth about a third of the value of the new truck. That doesn’t make sense to me.

Make sure you look at all the fine print and policy freebies. Do not let them increase your policy because they require it. Know what you want and how much you can pay before you sign. Know what you can afford and keep it there. Some "extra items" are for their benefit and not yours.

All insurance companies are the same. Not cheaper as advertised.

The price increased considerably since a year ago. It's sneaky because I pay per mile, and you don't realize how much more frequently your account is being refilled. There was no notice that there was a rate increase. The per-mile rate almost doubled.

I’m only looking at the final number when I shop for insurance! If you have the lowest cost on the 5-month total, you get my money. I don’t look at anything else. It’s a racket. I could have insurance with a company for 6 months, and when it comes time to renew, guess what? The price goes up 100% of the time. This is with having no tickets, no DUIs, no claims, nothing! But the price goes up. Greed is going to get us all.

All aspects of dealing with Allstate have been very good.

No claims, therefore no related experience to convey in that regard. However, the premium "discounts" are mediocre at best, some of which are "sound-good" for the client's benefit. The agent doesn't respond at all except to remind me of policy renewals. The customer service representative tries hard to be helpful, but is limited by agency policy. Obvious attempt to price-gouge upon policy renewal. This is representative of insurance reputation as a necessary evil, maximizing profit over the client. Increased premium for annual renewal with no claims and prompt, upfront premium payment. Agency practice forces the client to look elsewhere, but this results in the same scenario.

Allstate has been excellent for me for many years. Claims handling is superb. The only issue I have is the price, but that seems to be a function of living in Florida versus other states I have lived in.

I'm very happy with my current car insurance company. After being a loyal policyholder with Farmers for over 20 years, Allstate has been awesome.

I am a senior citizen on a fixed income with no car wrecks, no DUI, and I drive a 2010 vehicle. I pay $600 every 6 months.

I didn't know that the policy was written in a way that it didn't cover the item when you first receive it. I was told that I needed to have the manufacturer involved first. I have tried contacting them, but they have not returned my phone calls. It's been frustrating.

They raise your premium significantly every 6 months. I drive about 5,000 miles a year. The vehicle sits in the garage 85% of the time. I have had one claim my entire driving existence that cost under $1,500 (driving for 30 years since 1995) and that occurred in 2017. So no claims in 9 years. It is ridiculous that my premium goes up every 6 months.

I have been with Allstate for over 40 years. I don't know how to compare them with anyone else. The claim handling has been good.

I am currently with All-State and I have been with them for about 25 years. I have only one complaint: I am an 81-year-old man living on a fixed income. I drive less than 25 miles a week and only use my vehicle to go to the doctor and grocery store. I am looking for a cheaper alternative. I retired 10 years ago and my wife passed away last year, so please find me a cheaper rate.

Well, even though I’ve never spoken to my “agent,” whenever I call Allstate, the representatives who answer are knowledgeable and friendly. It dismays me that the Allstate charges continue to climb each year and sometimes at the end of each of the covered 6 months!

Allstate continues to increase the premiums as often as they can. I called to remove my daughter and her car and was told it would only decrease my premium by $40 for six months. I’m paying four hundred dollars to cover her car, so they just increased the cost of the other vehicles. The app is pretty good though.

I feel like you guys are money-hungry. My car is a 2017 Crosstrek, and in the 5 years I’ve had it, I have only put on 2000 miles. Beware, their insurance starts at a good price; however, it increases even if you don't drive very much or haven't had any claims.

I'm very disappointed in Allstate due to the huge increase in my policy renewal rate.

When I first signed up with them, I asked to have my payment due date set in the middle of the month, but they didn't do that, and now it's due at the beginning of the month. I was told that if I needed to change my due date, they would have to review my rates. They did, and it increased by almost $200, and they still would not change my due date. So every month, it looks like I'm late. I was told that if I use autopay, I could possibly change my date, but they weren't sure. I also have to pay for roadside service separately, which makes my bill even higher than what I was used to paying. I am very disappointed in their services.

When I signed up, everything went smoothly, or so I thought. I started getting letters from my car loan through my bank because they said I was not covered. It took me weeks to finally get this taken care of. I expected better than that from Allstate. I also feel my premium should be lower with the same coverage I have. I am retired, elderly, and live on social security.

They quoted one price, then charged another and said it was a "computer glitch," but it hasn't been fixed and no refund or credit has been provided.

Too expensive. I've never had accidents. My car was leased, so it had to be fixed to return it. They counted the repairs as accidents. The car was scratched both times, once at a supermarket parking lot and the second time at a mall parking.

I’d describe it as feeling robbed. I’d tell a friend to avoid them. Their premiums constantly rise and fees are added for anything they can think of. They misrepresent claims as having been “accidents” which are reported and put on record as such, causing future rate quotes from other insurers to be unfairly high. They’re the most costly insurance company I’ve ever had and can’t wait to cancel it forever.

My current car insurance is the best so far. They worked with me, told me the truth, and gave me the pros and cons right off. I knew what I wanted, and they provided me with what they could while still keeping my payments below all other insurance companies so far. I didn't feel rushed, and I wasn't quoted high outrageous prices right off. I appreciated the agent for being truthful and showing that it wasn't all about the money. It felt wonderful to actually feel like someone was listening to me and not trying to make their quota for the day. This time it didn't sound like a sales pitch over the phone, for once. Senior discount will work.

It was great until I got another car, and now I'm being charged more. I've been looking around to save money, and I found four options that can save me. I'm being charged 83 bucks a month, but I found the same coverage for 48 bucks a month, which is 35 dollars less than what I'm paying now with Allstate.

Allstate is more expensive than alternatives. They also don't provide coverage for RVs or motorcycles.

It's on you, my friend, if you want them, but I would shop around and do your homework. If you ever file a claim and later decide not to use them, they won't let you. The prices are way too high for someone who has never had an accident, has multiple cars on the plan, and a home.

I would look around for something else because I pay over $1,500 every 6 months for 2 cars. One is a 2015 Equinox and one is a 2020 Equinox.

Beware of sudden rate increases without warning and no ability to negotiate.

It's okay at first to get you into the billing cycle, and then it goes up every year to where you can't afford it. But it's okay.

I maintained an auto insurance policy with Allstate for several years and, while my overall risk profile was very low (single vehicle, married couple in our 60s), the premium was extremely high. By the end of the policy, Allstate’s pricing was nearly five times higher than my new insurer for comparable coverage. The one claim I did make—a windscreen replacement—was handled efficiently and professionally, with no issues in the claims process. However, despite satisfactory service on that occasion, the ongoing cost of coverage was simply not justifiable given my low-risk status, ultimately leading me to change insurers.

Well, I’ve never had to use my insurance, so my main complaint is that they keep raising their rates way too high. Otherwise, I don’t know how well they perform or how good my policy is because I’ve never had a claim. My only issue has been with the rates.

Allstate does nothing for good, safe drivers who have never processed a claim, or for senior citizens. The policy keeps going higher and higher. I would never recommend them to a friend.

Car insurance has been okay. When I got a quote for adding a vehicle and driver, the quoted price was quite a bit lower than the actual price, which is why I am shopping. I also found they logged an accident with LexisNexis as our fault, but the claim says it is not our fault.

They were great until they increased one of my policies by 73 percent - which was a policy that never had a claim.
