I absolutely loved my experience with Liberty Mutual. I was a customer for 20 years and had 3 policies with them. Unfortunately, I missed my annual payment. I was out of town and not checking email during the reminder period. For some reason, it was not on autopay, and they canceled my policy. Because they're not doing new business in CA, they refused to reinstate it. Despite my stellar driving record, loyalty, and longevity with the company, it was devastating. It was a mistake on my part -- I'm not sure what happened, but our relationship is now severed. They lost my business and don't seem to care...

I would tell them that when I call, I get someone at an 800 number, so the person is not local. For some reason, I don't like this, but I can't exactly explain why. I have been with Liberty Mutual since 1999. I used to have a good rapport with my insurance agent, but not anymore. I don't even think I have an assigned insurance agent anymore, so I don't feel that connection. I keep hearing and seeing advertisements about a discount if you drive your car less than 50 miles a day. As a recent widow with a single fixed income, I need to cut some expenses. I plan to contact Liberty Mutual before I make a change to see if they can match a lower insurance cost for combined auto and home policies.

My experience has been horrible and I'm now looking for cheaper insurance. I was told at one point that the reason my insurance went up was because of Covid. I fail to understand what that has to do with car insurance. Another time, I was told that my car wasn't kept in the garage, which is untrue. I've been very disappointed with the entire experience, especially considering your advertisements that claim 'you get what you pay for'. Despite never having to use my insurance, my rates keep going up. I'm on a limited income and these constant insurance raises are hard to handle. What happens to other people shouldn't affect my rates. If I don't use my insurance, I should get discounts. I'm honestly tired of this.

I was accused of hitting a car, but no claim was filed and no damage was done. I initiated a new claim because I thought the accuser was going to. However, I did not hit his car and tried to figure out how I was accused. There was no dent, no claim on the accuser's part because nothing happened. Despite this, Liberty Mutual stated that I hit a car, which I did not, and raised my insurance, tarnishing my perfect driving record. I was never informed about my insurance increase and had I been, I would never have renewed it. Liberty Mutual took money out of my bank without authorization. I have filed a claim with the state. I am not satisfied with Liberty Mutual.

I've been a customer for over 21 years. After moving to a different state and buying a house, I tried to update my address. I was told they were no longer insuring policies in Connecticut. About a month later, I received a notice stating that a new policy was denied due to my credit situation. This was directly related to the inquiries on my credit report from my mortgage application. When I called them to ask why they misled me about the reason for denial, I was again told they are no longer insuring policies in Connecticut. Today, I received another notice from them regarding the denial of another insurance policy inquiry. I never asked for them to run my information for another policy, but now there's another inquiry on my credit report. I'm extremely frustrated with a company I was loyal to for so long.

Liberty Mutual is an accessible, reputable, and flexible insurance company. They are a good choice for immediate coverage, but their premiums just keep increasing. Despite not having a moving violation or accident in over 30 years, I feel that I could get rates substantially lower than the over $80 per month I am currently paying for state minimum coverage with roadside assistance. I would advise caution when considering this company. They readily accept your monthly premium, but when it comes to paying out a claim, they seem to do everything possible to avoid it. Our roof was damaged by hail and wind during a tornado. Two roofing companies inspected the roof and both suggested it needed to be replaced. We filed a claim, but Liberty Mutual's in-house claims resolution specialist didn't even inspect the roof or attic personally. Instead, a third party did so and the specialist reviewed the photos, concluding there was 'no damage'. The shingles were damaged by hail impacts and many had lifted. The specialist claimed these would rebond in the sun and denied the hail damage. Despite having four additional roofers all suggesting the roof needed to be replaced, Liberty Mutual maintained their position. They even requested a replacement quote, only to later state their position hadn't changed and there was no damage. The reports from the roofing companies clearly showed the damage, which was undeniable. It seemed as if they simply did not want to pay the claim. We are now considering litigation.

I would not recommend Liberty Mutual. They did not go out of their way to assist me. After being a customer for a couple of years, they suddenly increased my monthly premium by almost $80. Yes, I only have Liability coverage, but that doesn't mean they can't provide assistance. I had two accidents within two months, neither of which were my fault. I called to see if they could help me, as I couldn't drive my car. They didn't try to assist me at all! During the second accident, the other person did have insurance (Progressive). Again, I was left to handle it on my own. Progressive, on the other hand, did assist me. They provided me with a rental car for a whole month. The point is, Liberty Mutual does not assist you. They seem to think they don't have to help you just because you only have Liability Coverage.

I was non-renewed because of moss on my concrete roof. I had it cleaned, sent them photos and proof, but they never responded even though their notice said they would. I even called them twice. I never had a claim for the house, though I had 3 for autos in over 40 years with them. Their premiums were good, but their customer service was the worst I've seen in over 60 years of insuring. My advice is to find an insurer with good customer service reviews that are loyal to their customers.
