Car insurance is fine, but the formula they use to determine the individual cost is bad. I am 82 with no tickets, accidents, or violations of any kind since I started driving at the age of 15. This can be verified. The insurance since 2020 has increased each year, with the current renewal cost of $2,100 and some change for 12 months of full coverage on a 2025 Toyota Tacoma SR 2WD. Obviously, I secured a new insurance company. Thank you for the opportunity to submit this information.

Rates…As of the 1st of February I switched over to Progressive. Sorry Liberty Murt
Liberty Mutual has a lot of good options, but their prices are way too high. I had them for three years, and the price almost doubled on my SUV. I’m 71 years old with no tickets or accidents. I do not drive over (on average) 7 miles a day at most 4 days a week. NEVER had a DUI. For 6 months, my rate is over $2440. Social security only goes so far. That only stretches so far!

My home is way undervalued. Even with the renewal policy, the home is undervalued. If my home needed to be replaced, I would not have fared well. With my new homeowner's policy with my new company, I now have more coverage at a lower price.

Does Liberty Mutual care about their customers?
I have an excellent driving record, but my policy goes up every year and they do not give any discounts for good driving or anything. I drive less than 30 miles per day. None of this matters to them.

Having the Courage to Review and Change
Saved us a lot of money. We did give up some coverage by way of considerably higher deductibles, but realized that we have only had a couple of claims on our home in 39 years. Also raised auto deductibles because we are debt-free and can cover it nowadays. Please first scan or download snapshots of your current/former insurance companies, but block out the premium costs to their view, so that they have a clear view of what you have. Then explain what you are willing/wanting to change.

Cost vs Coverage
It's all about coverage vs. cost. Just like their parent company says, "only pay for what you need." I've had my policy for only 14 months, and in that time, my premium has only gone up 6% from my initial quote. Not too bad.

False Quote
Make sure they lock in the rate they quote you. Mine was quoted at $775.00, and the next day it was $1,350.00 when I called to buy insurance. If I had not already canceled my old policy, I would not have purchased it, as it was a total false claim to quote $775.00. Their online quote was $285.00, which is why I called an agent!

Overpriced
I've never needed it. I have a perfect driving record for the past 10 years. I drive less than 8,000 miles a year, and I pay high-rate insurance. I'm looking for cheaper insurance now to get away from Liberty Mutual. It's way too expensive for someone with a perfect driving record, retired, and hardly ever drives. Way too much money.

Dissatisfied with claim during 2 major storms.
I had a claim on my home insurance pertaining to the two bad storms we had in March and had trouble getting help with them. Both instances I had leaks that came into the house and garage from the roof. Liberty only gave me a check to cover the bathroom ceiling and not the other four rooms and also the garage. I never made a claim and had Liberty for 35 years.

Not Worth, Won't Suggest
They are the worst. They send threatening emails every month, even when the payment due date is in the middle of the month. They start sending these emails at the beginning of the month. When called, they say they are working on it, but it's been three years and nothing is fixed. Due to their negligence, they continue to send threatening emails. Sometimes their bill is received late, but still, customers are threatened with policy cancellation or revocation. Not a good vendor. No one should go through this trauma every month. They lack appreciation and thankfulness. Not worth it. I would not recommend them to anyone. I also recently found that their premiums are too high, and the same coverage could be obtained at a lower rate.

They don't send out insurance cards. They are cheaper than State Farm, but I had a hard time getting them to pay claims. Their towing companies are not reliable. Tracking Concerns
I would not recommend it. The tracking discount software on my mobile phone makes me uncomfortable due to potential risks like stalking, home invasion, robbery, and other activities that may harm someone living alone. The demand to constantly communicate with their system is bothersome. The Progressive app for this benefit was present but less intrusive. However, this Liberty Mutual app is more demanding than necessary.

Liberty is Mutually Beneficial
Liberty Mutual will give you all the perks of being a name-brand car insurance company, similar to their competitors like Geico and Progressive. You'll get a reliable policy, but with that, you will have to pay the price of having a big-name company backing you. As far as customer service, it just depends on the day, but if I could recommend one thing, keep claims simple and try to be as direct with the agent as possible. The ones I've experienced didn't seem to have much patience.

He who has the gold rules
Get insurance where you can decide how much coverage you want. I have two cars: an 11-year-old car and a 2023 model. I wanted minimum coverage for the 11-year-old car and full coverage for the 2023. But Liberty did not let me decide for my 11-year-old car. They had their rules set for their benefit.

I was very disappointed in Liberty Mutual last year. They repeatedly added my son to my policy, which raised my rates. I went through the proper paperwork to have him removed and was always told it wouldn’t happen again. It happened five times. The last time, I was told that to remove him, they would need to rewrite my policy, which would raise my rates as I had been grandfathered into my existing rate. This is why I canceled.

Do not get Insurance with Liberty. You will be sorry.
Do not insure with Liberty. They constantly change your rates even though you don’t change the coverage. If you have a claim, they don’t want to pay you. They tell you to get whatever tools you need and fix the product yourself. I’m 70 years old and have multiple sclerosis. My claim adjuster told me to go get some tools and fix the air conditioner myself. When I told him how old I was and that I had multiple sclerosis, he said I better hurry up and get it done because it was summertime and very hot. I had an eight-month-old roof that had hail damage and needed to be completely replaced, as well as guttering and an air conditioner, among other items. They wanted to give me $3,800. It took me five months and hundreds of hours of texting and phone calls. I finally had to call the Oklahoma insurance commission and get them involved, as well as the district attorney’s office. I did end up with a little more money, about $5,000, but I had to get a relative to come and put the roof on because the amount of money didn’t even cover all the materials I needed. Before I got the insurance commission involved, my adjuster told me they were through with me, and when I would call, my phone number would route to an answering machine that said to text this number. I would text, and nobody would call me back. It was a nightmare and so stressful. I wasn’t even sure I was going to make it through it, but I did, and now I’m shopping for new insurance.

Liberty Mutual Offers the Best Prices
My experience with Liberty Mutual is mostly good. I like the flexibility of being able to pay and find my forms online. I didn’t find auto glass replacement to be easy with Liberty Mutual. The company they recommended didn’t have our windshield, so I had to find another company myself. I wish the original prices they quoted me did not go up so much. Each year, the price increases beyond what I’m happy with. That being said, when I price other companies, there are none that are cheaper. So I’m staying with Liberty Mutual.

Liberty Mutual used to be a good company. But since the pandemic, that has changed dramatically. There are no more agents or local outlets to visit.
