Direct Auto has less than fair practices in taking care of their customer base. Without warning, they take actions against their customers. They do not contact them prior to such actions. They drop and cancel policies on a whim. Their associates do not do their jobs in compliance with their own company policies and cause these problems.

Direct Auto has been easy to access and use. For some reason, when it came time to renew my policy, my monthly rate went up almost 30 dollars for no apparent reason. That's the only reason I'm looking for something else right now. They were the cheapest until it was time to renew. However, I'm still satisfied with the coverage I have/had.

I experienced a flat tire on the interstate and despite having paid for Roadside service every month for years, they were unresponsive. I received a call four hours later in the hot Florida sun, and was told that no one was available to assist me. In addition, they raised rates almost every month despite me having no tickets or accidents. I was paying over $250.00 a month for a Toyota. I wouldn't recommend them.

The insurance was easy to obtain and the customer service was pleasant. However, their internet functions were terrible when it came to sending requested information; I had to send requests 10 times. They were not transparent about their pricing when I signed up. They convinced me to add many ancillary products based on discounts, but failed to mention that the policy expense was due to these additional products, not the actual policy itself. Therefore, my first and second months were significantly more expensive than they needed to be, which was very frustrating. Additionally, the insurance itself is extremely expensive for no apparent reason other than I haven't had insurance for a while due to not owning a car. I have no accidents or tickets, and neither does my husband. Yet, we are still paying $300 a month for an older vehicle, and we are in our 40s. I find it absolutely outrageous to pay that much for insurance coverage. Other insurance companies won't even insure us, so it's not entirely their fault. However, the cost of car insurance is just ridiculous.

They lie, saying their app checks your trips and your driving on a scale from 1 to 10. I have an iPhone 5 and they said that they give you discounts for better driving, but I still haven't received any discounts. They also tell you they give you a discount for going paperless, which is not true. So, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
