On two separate evenings, I was stranded in the snow and ice. Despite having full coverage plus roadside assistance, they could not send a tow truck to help me take the car to a mechanic. I was told to find my own tow truck. When I did, the tow truck company told me it would be $900 to tow my car to a mechanic 40 minutes away! It was an emergency and they couldn't help me at all, so I changed my car insurance to a different company, State Farm.

They're somewhat inexpensive. However, if you ever have a 'not at fault' accident, they don't seem to care. Their driving app is also poor. I have four trips, two of which are over a week old, that are still calculating. I wouldn't recommend them.

The coverage is overpriced and the 'Drive Sense' app seems to have very select hours of only 2 or 3 days that are considered the 'safest times to be on the road'. This results in losing your driving discounts for the following term for any and all hours that are traveled outside of these very limited 'acceptable' times.

Getting them to pay off my car after it was totaled was like pulling teeth. They sent the payment to the wrong address. During the three months I was waiting, I had to keep making car payments because Mazda had no proof the car was totaled. I didn't want my credit score to drop any further. They didn't inform me that my rental period had ended until two weeks later, which cost me $500. Had they paid off the car on time, this wouldn't have happened. I provided proof that the accident wasn't my fault, but they lost the evidence. They said they couldn't fast forward the video and because it wasn't in color, they couldn't see the red light. Despite all the cars going north to south being stopped and all the cars moving east to west moving, they didn't accept that the man who ran the red light was at fault. I finally sent them a statement from the police confirming that the man involved was issued a citation for running a red light. He was on his phone, but that didn't seem to matter. It was a mess from start to finish. I had a broken neck and hip, and doing all the legwork was very difficult. Towards the end of this ordeal, no one called or kept me updated. I was in pain and bitter because this accident changed my life. If not for their employee, Shannon Smith, I might have done something foolish. It was the worst time in my life. I'd never had an accident before and this was a shock to my system. I will be leaving Esurance because of how poorly this was handled. I just want to give kudos to Shannon Smith, the only one who was helpful. She deserves a promotion! Thank you, Betty J. Peake

However, when I checked again later in the month, my policy was cancelled. Also, the customer service is poor. It's difficult to get a hold of a real person and the automated systems are not helpful. They don't offer accident forgiveness. Last year, I was involved in an accident where I hit a sign on the highway while trying to avoid a head-on collision. Subsequently, my insurance skyrocketed. When I spoke to a customer service representative, they essentially told me that it would have been better to have the accident to prevent my insurance from increasing.

Dealing with this company has been challenging due to issues with receiving documents that I sent to an email that wasn't working. If it hadn't been for a kind lady who reached out to me, I would have had no insurance. I sent the documents and was told they were received, only to find out they weren't. This issue caused me stress for weeks. However, this kind lady, whose name I will find, took the time to help me and figure out a way to get the documents. She deserves recognition. Apart from her, it's been the worst experience I've ever had with an insurance company. Additionally, I found out my payment would be over $500 a month. The agent who signed me up never mentioned this. Now, I'm worried about how I'm going to come up with that kind of money to prevent cancellation.
