Honestly, it's terrible. Their app doesn't work. I have emailed them and called several times to get it fixed and to try and cancel a policy, but I received absolutely no reply.

Cheaper rates

You don't get a deductible unless you add other insurance on the policy. That's not good!

This company is the worst I have ever dealt with. My insurance coverage is excessively high and I just received a notification that it is increasing from $93.22 to $107.56 without any apparent good reason. I am in search of insurance that is less than $50. I don't earn a lot of money and cannot afford these high payments.

The monthly insurance premiums are extremely expensive for someone my age with no tickets or accidents.

They are impossible to get in touch with. I still haven't received a refund from June for the car insurance cancellation on the car removed from the policy.

Like all insurance companies, it seems like a rip-off. It doesn't make sense to pay thousands of dollars for insurance and get nothing in return if you don't use the insurance. Not even a discount. Despite having a very good driving record, I still have to pay too much each month. All insurance feels like a scam.

Getting in touch with a live representative is almost impossible, and when you do, they seem uninformed. I was charged $300 for a policy that provided no coverage. It felt like they were getting paid for doing absolutely nothing.

I loved The General. I had them for 3 years. However, I found better rates elsewhere and I'm now paying only half of what The General was offering, so I had to switch. If they had lower rates, I would have stayed with them.

The customer service was very rude and disinterested when I tried to change my policy. They were extremely unhelpful.

Don't get lured in by the low rate quotes. They may be low, but all the extra fees they tack on raise that quote by 12-15 dollars a month.

I was looking for new insurance. General doesn't cover much and they change your policy without your knowledge, offering less coverage for more money. The cost has increased by at least 30 to 40 dollars a month with every renewal.

They're average, and high-priced for someone who's a senior with no violations, accidents, tickets, etc. I drive less than 50 miles a week. My car is a 2003-2004 Chevrolet Suburban in mint condition. It looks like new, and everyone thinks it's a 2020+ model. It was a fleet car in storage, and the original owner sold it to me. It's kept in a garage, and I'm the only driver, yet I'm paying $410.00 monthly! I think it's disrespectful to charge me like a repeated offender. I don't think that's fair. I need a change!

The General was okay. It was just too expensive in the first place.

The salesperson isn't clear enough. When you ask a question during the sales pitch, they send you an estimate and charge you an estimate fee. Then, four weeks later, they send you a bill for the remaining part. The mobile payments that I originally set up were supposed to be on the fifth of the month. However, they lowered it to the 25th and I don't get paid until the fifth of the month.

They will just cancel your policy without notifying you, as they cancel the policy at 12:01am on the day your payment is due instead of 11:59pm the same day. This could lead to policy cancellations and lapses in insurance. They are the worst, I recommend going with another agency.

Improper payout for damages, high prices

My insurance is too high considering my low mileage. I don't drive much, have never had an accident, and I'm a senior.

Don't choose The General. They are very high priced for the lowest coverage.

Stay away. They will take your money just fine, but if you have a claim, give up. Their phones don't work, their emails go down, and they don't return calls until you involve OSI.

Chatting online was a long process, and calling in was a nightmare because it's all AI. Trying to get a human on the phone was quite a challenge.
