After being with Allstate for over 50 years, they became too expensive. Progressive has been very good to start.

Got my rate cut in half because I did not get an agent involved and I drive low mileage. It was helpful, and I'm getting almost $500 back from my previous policy.

Insurance premiums are going up for no reason whatsoever. There should be options for cars that are seldom driven. Very unfair industry!

Look for cheaper alternatives. I pay $180.00 a month for standard insurance. No roadside, no windshield replacement, no senior discount.

Less expensive insurance is needed for us 80+ seniors, as our driving is minimal.

The insurance company is good, but I don’t think they are fair. I’ve had one claim, unlike my boyfriend who had several, which were not his fault. I don’t think it’s fair to punish me for his actions.

If I’m being honest, I don’t have a really bad experience with Progressive. It’s just the pricing, or the increase in pricing I should say. It’s very displeasing, especially to drivers who don’t have any DUIs, don’t have any suspensions on their license, and have not received any tickets nor have been in any accidents. I feel like when a company asks for your loyalty or has a loyalty program, then it should show both ways.

My experience with my current car insurance is good, except that I went from paying $150 to $387 a month. So now I am looking for cheaper car insurance. I don’t have any wrecks, tickets, or anything like that on my record, so I think it’s kind of crazy that my insurance payment doubled. So again, I know that I can find it cheaper than that, even though I know that Progressive is a pretty good insurance company.

My insurance for home and vehicles is my highest cost. However, during a recent hail storm, I had considerable damage. Progressive and Safeco really amazed me with their care and fast response from beginning to end. I would hate to change insurance providers, but the cost is becoming prohibitive.

Always get a quote online before renewal. Progressive tends to quote lower online than the renewal quote they send you. I then call about the online quote, and they adjust my renewal policy. But keep in mind your driving record. I do have a perfect driving record.

Shop around. Rates are ridiculously high for someone my age with my driving record.

Too expensive and unprofessional. I have no DUIs, accidents, and I'm a senior citizen with no tickets or warrants, yet I pay $195 and I don't even have full coverage. What is going on?

I would not recommend Progressive. They raised my rate without any reason, even though I'm a Gold Member and have been with them for a long time.

The insurance is very expensive.

They raise prices after 6 months without any explanation. I never got traffic tickets or did anything to justify a $2,300 increase from the original price. It's ridiculous.

I initially got a new policy from Progressive on 09/20/2025 because my auto and home insurance was cheaper than or equal to USAA. I signed up for their SAFE DRIVER program to save money. However, after reading their disclosure, I found the program too restrictive as it was designed to control everything I did when driving. So, I refused this rider. Immediately, my policy was increased by $50.00 per month. Even though I prepaid 6 months' premium for the auto policy and 12 months for the home policy, they waited until the 3rd month to notify me of the increase of $166.00. Now they're threatening to cancel my policies, ignoring the $1800.00 I had already paid them. Customers can't trust Progressive to deliver on their promises.

Progressive lives up to their name. My rates increase progressively every 6 months. I've had insurance for 18 months, paying $50 more with each renewal. No tickets or accidents. I pay the premium in full every 6 months.

Too expensive. Rate went up $50 despite zero claims. My wife has not driven a car in 10 years (physical disability), yet because we are married, she must be named as a driver. Previous attempts to have her removed would, I'm told, actually increase my rate. Attempts to find a different insurance carrier proved fruitless.

They gave me a price, and three months later it tripled. They said they gave me an introductory offer, but no one ever used those words when my daughter and I talked with them!

I just got a new policy and canceled my old one because you guys were charging me $240 a month for liability! I did a new quote and found out that for only $120 I could get full coverage. For some reason, you guys couldn't do that with my existing policy where I had been insured for years. So frustrating.

They renewed my policy and switched me from a 12-pay to a 6-pay plan, which made my payments too hard to manage. Plus, they raised my rates. They never contacted me to see if that's what I wanted.

I would not advise anyone to get Progressive because if you have to file a claim on your policy, they ask for things most people do not have. If you don’t have what they require, they deny you. You pay for the coverage, but they won’t help you cover a claim.

I got a quote and entered my driver's license number and all necessary information, which resulted in one quote. Then, when I proceeded to pay and was asked for VIN numbers, the price jumped $700. Insane.

For my age and the length of time I've been a customer, I would search elsewhere. I feel I don't get any consideration. I've taken the safe driver's course, haven't received any tickets, and still, my rates are high even though I have two vehicles.

I thought I was supposed to get several discounts but never found any. I am looking for cheaper coverage with more evident discounts. What's wrong with telling me what discounts I am getting? Is it some big secret or what?

I'd tell my friends in my age group to shop around, as Progressive is expensive.

Progressive sent me their Snapshot device twice, but it couldn't be hooked up or work properly. They kept sending me emails stating that unless this device is hooked up, my rate will be raised. This happened even after I notified them that their device did not work. If they raise my rate, I will cancel my insurance. What they are doing feels like harassment to me and other customers.

The price kept changing back and forth, and the site was very unstable.

It's cheap, and I guess you get what you pay for.

First off, do not sign up for their SAFE DRIVER DISCOUNT. I found it very intrusive. They basically want to control your life while driving your vehicle, and when I refused to return the document, they raised my insurance by $50.00 per month. Plus, their home insurance was far more expensive than other major carriers.

I am looking for any company that doesn't require their app to monitor my driving. Progressive's app drains my phone battery.

Trying to renew my policy after 20+ years with Progressive was extremely hard. The right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. Every time I called, it was a different person, and they were clueless about what was discussed with previous agents. I had enough; it was so frustrating.

So-so. They don’t believe you when you say your mother has her own insurance and does not drive your truck. They want you to fill out a form that says she doesn’t drive your truck. Extra hassle to go through. Their driving app is not accurate; it even picks up when I'm driving a forklift at work.

They will do their work but drag their feet in situations you don't expect. I had to get legal help to make them cover an uninsured motorist issue, and in another incident, they did not represent me well and did no investigative work to alleviate responsibility that was reasonably shared, not completely mine. That was damaging to me.

Progressive charges me $233.00 a month for a 1996 F-150 and a 2011 Charger (no Hemi). I have no tickets or claims. I'm actively looking for a new company. Don't use Progressive.

They are always changing the rates higher and higher every six months. I have not had a ticket in over 40 years. I have not caused any car accidents. I opt out of your medical coverage every time because I have Medicaid and Medicare. I also don't use your towing service because I have my own towing package elsewhere. So explain to me why every six months, when it rolls around, this insurance is constantly going up. I'm also on a fixed income. Where are all these savings I'm always being told I'm getting? Overpriced. Search online for the best price. I drive under 50 miles a month in a 1996 cargo van just for grocery shopping only, a 6-mile trip. State liability only, and it still costs $72.00 a month. It's a ridiculous price.

I'm very disappointed. These last 2 years, out of many years being with Progressive, have been crushing. I've been in 2 deer accidents with 10 years in between them. They put my kids on my plan, even though I did not want them there. One is afraid to drive, and the other had their own policy with Progressive. When I review my policy and tweak a couple of things, they cancel my current policy. They are not into saving you money; they take it. Snapshot is punishment for lowering your amount. The thing beeps when your car isn't even moving.

Car insurance is fine, but house insurance is terrible. My home insurance went from $900 the first year to $1,400 the second year, and now it's $2,100. I'm looking for new insurance.

I could never recommend Progressive. There are only discounts if you allow them to auto-draft your funds, and they take what they want. I have an excellent driving record, and still, the premiums are high.
