I feel that given our age (83) and the small amount of driving we do (1,200 miles per year), our rate should be much lower. They claim that since my grandson, who was on the policy, had a not-at-fault accident, it will affect my rate even though I took him off. That accident had absolutely nothing to do with me. Unfair!

They simply have the lowest prices. We have switched for a better price, but other companies always raise the rate for some reason, so we go back to Progressive.

I just started with Progressive. Thus far, they've been great. I saved over $900 from my previous policies with Allstate, and the coverage is the same or even better.

I strongly resent insurance companies penalizing drivers who honestly and willingly admit to having a no-fault accident (no violations and no tickets) by raising their rates, whether on purchase or renewal. It is unethical, and the government agency regulating insurance companies should prevent this action. Insurance companies penalize drivers based on age rather than the person's actual abilities. They assume that all young adults or all senior adults drive poorly and, therefore, unjustly charge higher rates. It is unethical, and the government agency regulating insurance companies should prevent this action. Progressive offers Snapshot, providing the driver a nice discount if this program is used. The problem? Snapshot—and I will presume all similar programs with other companies—is calibrated to high sensitivity levels, which incorrectly record the driver's actions. These calibrated high sensitivity levels are unrealistic in the driving world! My friends tell me regularly that I am a good driver, but Snapshot would paint a polar opposite picture. Snapshot is a program that is designed more to control the driver's actions than it is to help improve the driver's abilities or reduce rates.

Don't use Snapshot; you need more information about it.

Good, and they have reduced my cost a little over time. My record shows 5 claims, all for glass, and I don't think that should be a factor in determining my rate.

It is a good price for full coverage.

Watch for policy increases due to hard braking disputes. One cannot explain examples even if other drivers caused you to "hard brake." Progressive increased my premium by two hundred dollars for a 6-month period. Insurance companies have an excuse to increase premiums by suggesting every hard braking counts as a potential collision. Very heavy traffic in the Sarasota area!

I really haven’t had much customer service with the company, since I’ve had no claims in the over 3 years I’ve been with them. I’ve called twice to see about lowering my monthly rate, but unless I want to change my coverage, there’s no way. It’s strange how my monthly rate keeps going up each month, little by little. It started with my Jeep Cherokee. The first month the rate was $72, and three years later it was up to over $90 a month—this was with no claims at all. Now with my new car, the rate each month has gone up again. It was over $114 this last month, and I’ve only owned the car for 4 months.

HiRoad is my current and future insurance provider for auto and renters insurance. It’s the best value for the money for me.

Rates are extremely high. No claims have ever been filed. Basing insurance rates on credit is crazy.

Usually, the longer you have insurance through a company, the cheaper it is supposed to get. Progressive is not that type of insurance company. When you call and ask about the increase to your insurance, the company gives poor answers.

Overcharging us even though we have been customers for over 5 years! They raised our premiums because of our no-fault claim.

Progressive is a little cheaper than others; however, I've been with them for 4 years, and it seems my policy kept going up and not down like other companies do. I felt I stayed stuck at the same amount the entire time, or it was going up and not down. When asked why, all I got was, "All companies raised their policy this year." Nothing about how or when it will go down. So to me, Progressive is another company that is only out to take your money. I never had an accident or anything to raise my amount.

When I first got Progressive, they quoted me $103 monthly. Well, the following month they charged me $174, and that continues. I talked to customer service, and he told me the raise in insurance was because I wasn't with my previous company, Geico, for 3 months, which is ridiculous because I was with Geico for 5 months. They were too high at $164 a month.

Progressive tripled my rate after a minor accident.

The pricing was not accurate. My quote was $147, then it jumped to $170, and then to $190 in a matter of one week! I'm not pleased with Progressive at all. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Too expensive. They gave me a price, but every month they take $40 more than the agreement states, and no one can tell me why. Every time I try to search for a different insurance, they always transfer me back to Progressive. Everything is automated. We appreciated the roadside assistance; we paid full price, and this was essential. We used them for a dead battery, and Progressive roadside service was excellent.

NYS has the highest premiums anywhere, despite a great driving record! I've had zero tickets since 1989, yet my premiums go up all the time. Progressive told me 3 years ago it was because of the payout costs. Either get a new accountant or make offenders pay what they owe, not on the low income! Please.

Stay away from Progressive! I have never had a ticket or a claim, and my policy went up from $160 to $238 monthly for my wife and me. Every 6 months, it increased drastically. After getting 15 different quotes, I found that Progressive is the most overpriced auto insurance on the market. After getting a new policy with Liberty Mutual, the Progressive agent wanted to see if they could find me savings. Those should’ve been offered to me before I switched. Also, I got twice the coverage through Liberty Mutual for right at half the cost of Progressive and their minimum coverage!

I used Progressive for less than a month and will never use them again. They falsely advertised a deal just to pique one's interest. Then I talked to a sales representative and found out they had wrecks on my record that never happened. This was the result of them using a third party instead of the DMV.

I recently received a 6-month renewal with a $279 increase on an already overpriced premium. When I called to question why my less than 30 miles driven daily average doesn't reduce the premium, they said they do not consider it. (Recently, the State of Illinois ruled this is legally applied.) When I asked for the reason for the increase, I was given the usual claim that my state's larger claims are to blame, which I have heard from insurance companies for decades. This is reason enough to look for honest coverage elsewhere.

I asked for a copy of my insurance and still, after 8 years, have not received it. My insurance went up despite having no accidents or DUIs. I don't drink and drive only 3-5 miles a month to local stores.

I signed up for Snap and got a 10 percent discount and did well for the first 6 months, but my insurance went up even though I did well on the Snap program. I have one more year for my wreck to come off my record, and hopefully, my credit score will be much better, and I will be able to shop around. From 1 to 10, they get a 5.

I would never insure with Progressive again. They took money when my policies were paid and refused to pay me back, so I canceled all my policies and went elsewhere. I actually got a cheaper quote.

Get a discount for being old and not driving very many miles a day.

I have had a clean driving record for over 15 years. I drive less than 4,000 miles a year. I am a senior on a fixed income, and every time I turn around, my insurance goes up. I have to shop around and change every year to another company or get a new policy from Progressive. All of this is just nuts.

I would tell them that your rates increase really fast, and your transparency could be better. I think the agents are making a killing off people because when I went back to your site, the same insurance I had was a hundred bucks cheaper compared to what you're charging me per month. You can do better on that. Also, telling me that I'm paying for other people because they got in accidents—I'm not falling for that.
