Too expensive.

I really like Progressive. I've been with them for many years. They renew on February 7th for 6 months. I'm just looking forward to a lower rate. Fingers crossed.

If I’m being honest, I don’t have a really bad experience with Progressive. It’s just the pricing, or the increase in pricing I should say. It’s very displeasing, especially to drivers who don’t have any DUIs, don’t have any suspensions on their license, and have not received any tickets nor have been in any accidents. I feel like when a company asks for your loyalty or has a loyalty program, then it should show both ways.

My experience with my current car insurance is good, except that I went from paying $150 to $387 a month. So now I am looking for cheaper car insurance. I don’t have any wrecks, tickets, or anything like that on my record, so I think it’s kind of crazy that my insurance payment doubled. So again, I know that I can find it cheaper than that, even though I know that Progressive is a pretty good insurance company.

I have no complaints, Progressive is a great company!

My insurance for home and vehicles is my highest cost. However, during a recent hail storm, I had considerable damage. Progressive and Safeco really amazed me with their care and fast response from beginning to end. I would hate to change insurance providers, but the cost is becoming prohibitive.

They had the lowest rates I could find, but I consider it.

Always get a quote online before renewal. Progressive tends to quote lower online than the renewal quote they send you. I then call about the online quote, and they adjust my renewal policy. But keep in mind your driving record. I do have a perfect driving record.

Shop around. Rates are ridiculously high for someone my age with my driving record.

I have not had any claims of any sort, so I don't really know. I have been checking out other options as a senior on Social Security. When I get something from you for quotes, most of the time they don't want to do full coverage, and I still want that. So I have found others with full coverage.

They talk a lot about giving you a lot for your money, but you have to ask for every discount; they don’t just offer them. My policies have increased every 6 months even though both drivers have very good records. You have to submit your driving to a safety surveillance program, but it doesn’t seem to help anything even though both drivers have recorded scores well into the nineties. I feel both the auto policy and renters policy are much too high.

My experience so far has been good. I just hope the price doesn’t increase drastically.

They seem to be okay, it's just that it is so expensive to buy, leaving little for other things.

Call the rep, go over sections, identify discounts, compare with other insurers, and make sure that the agreed amount is correct. Subsequent emails I received had different amounts than what my internal Progressive account said. I was told the difference was because the internal one included a "renewal," versus a new applicant in my emails. So, one hand not knowing what the other is doing. A bit confusing and wasted my time.

I'm a veteran, so I just wish there were easier ways to get my discounts. Basically, you have to ask or research to get them. I'm 100 percent, so I'm tax-exempt, but they don't offer that benefit. Overall, I picked them because they were the cheapest. Customer service is excellent, very nice folks, and well-educated in their job.

The premium is too high because of our ages, even though we have a perfect driving record for many years.

Overpriced. Search online for the best price. I drive under 50 miles a month in a 1996 cargo van just for grocery shopping only, a 6-mile trip. State liability only, and it still costs $72.00 a month. It's a ridiculous price.

I'm very disappointed. These last 2 years, out of many years being with Progressive, have been crushing. I've been in 2 deer accidents with 10 years in between them. They put my kids on my plan, even though I did not want them there. One is afraid to drive, and the other had their own policy with Progressive. When I review my policy and tweak a couple of things, they cancel my current policy. They are not into saving you money; they take it. Snapshot is punishment for lowering your amount. The thing beeps when your car isn't even moving.

I would like to see better options at better prices. They do okay.

Car insurance is fine, but house insurance is terrible. My home insurance went from $900 the first year to $1,400 the second year, and now it's $2,100. I'm looking for new insurance.

It's expensive. Like super expensive. My tip would be to look somewhere else. I am actually going to switch as soon as my next payment is due.

I could never recommend Progressive. There are only discounts if you allow them to auto-draft your funds, and they take what they want. I have an excellent driving record, and still, the premiums are high.

It's hard to get new quotes from third parties, but they say Progressive is $60 cheaper per month if I switch. However, I had a stroke, and it's hard to switch all the paperwork. When I got my last renewal, I was told that it was the cheapest plan, yet the quotes were so much cheaper!

Be aware that their snapshot program penalizes you for hard braking and states this as a reason for raising their rates. Ridiculous!

Progressive keeps raising the prices every time you sign a new 6-month period. My record is clean, and they claim you get all these discounts, even though the prices are sky high.

I am unhappy with their reminder system. They let my insurance lapse without any notification. When I contacted them, they didn't seem to care. I had a couple of conversations with them and I resigned. They knew I had my boat insured with them and never told me my insurance on the boat was expiring. It is now expired. I am going to switch companies.

I pay $224 a month at 66 years old with no DWI and no tickets.

On the plus side, they are always happy to assist and always friendly. However, it's only because they charge high prices and increase the policy rates when you renew.

Not good. My premium keeps going up. I am very upset from $305 to $335 every 6 months. What for? We are good drivers with no tickets or issues.

I am no longer with Progressive because they took advantage of me when I was desperate. I'm back with Geico, where I feel pretty good. My insurance at Progressive went from $47 a month to $123 a month (my share). My ex-wife caused issues in the last year of our marriage, and Progressive was more than happy to charge me more, which hurt. I paid them off for what she did, and I didn't find out about it until after the divorce. She also caused problems with Geico, but I paid them off too. I don't think it's fair that she walked away from the marriage squeaky clean and ruined my credit. Geico took into consideration what I had been through and helped as much as they could. Progressive better not take another payment out of my account. I will never put someone under my name again. Thanks, peace.

They're okay, but my rates kept going up every six months even though I have a clean driving record. I never heard from them at all unless a payment was due.

Progressive is exactly what its name says. I started over 4 years ago, just under $100. Each year following, 0 accidents, 0 tickets, DUIs, etc. 5-star driving record... now it's $175?? Shouldn't rates decrease for being an excellent, defensive driver? Hmmm?

Starts out at a good price, then it goes up. Mine is up to $190.00 a month. I am on a fixed income, and it is a struggle to keep.

Over the past 6 months, I have received differing premium amounts on online and hard copy bills without an explanation of why there were changes.

I think they lack transparency about hidden fees, whether processing or other types. Also, since I have auto payments set up for them to process my 6-month renewal, I did not deserve a banner on my bill payment stating a lapse while the transaction was being processed. I have already been let down by Farm Bureau before regarding what they and other insurance providers have done with these types of statements when I did not have a lapse in auto insurance nor failed to pay. Previously, years ago, my insurance was just under somebody else's policy, and they refused to credit me for at least maintaining coverage at all times. Although Progressive has better rates for me to some extent, I have been with them for 5 years and deserve transparency. Also, it appears they were falsely identifying my driving habits just prior to my policy renewal on January 23rd, thus reducing my Good Driver discount to less than what I deserved.

Don't provide low quotes and then add fees later.

Confusing: Rates keep increasing, and there are constant warnings about this or that not being covered.

We were stranded on the side of the road with no way to get any help to find a hotel or anything else. They basically just left us hanging. If it wasn't for the tow truck driver, we wouldn't have been able to go anywhere. They didn't offer any help. To me, that's unacceptable.

Well, currently my car is out of commission, so there is no insurance on it because it has been sitting at a mechanic's shop since last year. The only reason I gave the rating that I did for Progressive is that my rate went from roughly $140 to $200 for a so-called minor accident. I am 60 years of age, and my children, specifically the one under 25, pay less than I do, and there were no available discounts. So if and when I get my car back, I’ll probably be going elsewhere. I wanted to consider other insurance options because, according to my EBT, supposedly I can get full coverage for less than what I was paying with Progressive.

Terrible customer service. Too expensive. They have "charges" they don't tell you about or explain to you.

Keep all copies of documents sent to you; it's very important as some of them the agent couldn’t find. Request proof of payment, policy number, name on the account, etc.

Not good. 😕 My bill kept going up. I have only had one accident in 30 years of driving, and hitting a log in a rainstorm should not make my bill go up by $400 each month. It's almost been 3 years.

I enrolled in Snapshot and got an email saying I'd saved $150 on my next 6-month payment. I logged in and saw it went up by 13% anyway. A 13% increase in six months is ridiculous!

I had a good experience with these guys the first year. They bundled all my stuff, added my uncle to my account, and got me a good rate for the 3 vehicles for around $1600 for a 6-month period. But this second year, when I went to renew, they said I'm not the account holder. I'm a secondary, and my Harley is on another plan entirely. Hmm. I only paid one bill, so how do you figure that? Anyways, I'm ready for something better.

Everything is good, but when it comes to cost, I'm 72 and need it to be less expensive for only driving 10 miles a day both ways to work. I do like Progressive.

Adding my son to the policy with Progressive doubled my premium. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Too expensive. They track me everywhere I go and then send emails about raising my rate because I brake and accelerate too much. The only way to get anywhere is to use either Route 35 or Route 9, two major roads with acceleration and deceleration lanes.

They initially offered a low first payment, but then increased it to a level higher than my budget. There were many mistakes in the paperwork and rewrites. They also asked me to insert a tracker in my car. I was criticized for pulling hard into a turn, which I did to avoid another speeding car cutting into my lane. They also said I brake too hard, but they couldn't see that I was avoiding someone jumping a red light into my right of way. These are judgments they make about things they can't see. I would advise not to accept their Snapshot. They misjudge what they can't see, and as a result, they decide to raise rates and damage an excellent driving record.

If you have a ticket or a minor incident, they will completely take advantage of you, resulting in a major price increase.

Consideration for miles driven in a 6-month period. Personally, I drive less than 600 miles in 6 months. Less exposure should translate into cost savings.

Progressive continues to raise my rates each month. I have not had any claims yet. This made my switch from another company not worth it after the first month.
