I like GEICO, but when I lost my car that I had almost finished paying for, I got a decent amount from them. However, the car that I bought was a 2020 model, so it was two years old. I had Enterprise bring it down for me, and it was an SUV, which was too big of a vehicle for me to drive. As a result, I ended up having two accidents with that vehicle, and of course, my insurance went up, and I still owe $8,000.

I have been satisfied with Geico insurance and have looked into saving money by changing for 2026. I have not found a better company that offers the same value for any less cost, and several I have looked into have been quite a bit more costly for what I currently have. I would recommend Geico to friends.

When I asked for a lower rate, they said that it was not possible, so now we need to find another insurance provider.

It is better than most others out there, but they could do better for people that rarely use their car, barely 20 miles a week if that. Look and compare. If they go higher, we will look elsewhere.

Had many options to choose from. You have the ability to choose the options you can afford.

They give good drivers no benefits whatsoever. People with no accidents and no tickets pay the same as a person with tickets or accidents.

They start you off with a good discount and rate, but the longer you stay with them, they increase your bill. When you call to find out why, they have an attitude like I should have known. Not only that, I barely use my car. I'm elderly, with no tickets or accidents, and I'm paying $1,400 a year. They also give you a quote but don't tell you it's only a 6-month term. It's crazy, and my car is 20 years old, so paying that price is unreasonable. I'm actively looking for a different insurance company now.

We’ve had zero claims in the last 7 to 8 years, yet our insurance rates are nearly unsustainable as they have increased exponentially due to inflation or whatever they say. We bundled home and car to save, and our premiums have nearly doubled, so we’re going to find cheaper insurance. We’ve had Geico for about 15 years, so it’s hard to have to change, but they offer zero ideas to reduce the nearly $300 per month premiums. We’re retired, hardly drive, and it’s ridiculous to have to pay this much for 2 vehicles.

Cheaper than what you offer.

I did not have coverage very long with Geico when, on my way to a doctor's appointment, a truck quickly pulled in front of me, which did not have the right of way. The end result was that I hit the truck in the rear. In exchanging insurance information, I checked his truck over and over for any damages. Finally, he decided there were no damages or scratches. He, in fact, stated to me, "I do not find any damages whatsoever," and said, "I will let my employer know about the accident and notify them that there is no damage to the truck." The next thing I find out, 2-3 weeks later, is that a claim was filed for damages. I called Geico and spoke to an agent. He was surprised I did not know about the claim, as no one from Geico called me to find out the truth of the accident. He said he would have someone from Geico call me. I never got a call, but I received a letter stating a claim was filed and Geico was working on an agreeable amount. It stated they would contact me when settled. I never got said call and have never been asked my version, and it is presumed I am guilty. I actually had the right of way and NO damage was done. I still, to this day, do not know what Geico paid out. This was handled very poorly. Just because I am a senior does not justify not getting the truth of the accident.

I feel they are on the higher side. I don’t have any accidents, tickets, or DUIs, and I am paying more for insurance than I ever have.

I am not completely satisfied with my current auto insurance. Although I understand that insurance rates are rising, especially in New York State, I know that I could be paying less, and that is where my frustration lies. I'm close to paying nearly $300 a month for a multi-car policy for 2 vehicles that are more than 10 years old. I simply want to pay less for auto insurance to fit my monthly budget as I am a Geico customer of disabled status living on a fixed income.

My agent's name was Mary. When I joined Geico, I gave Mary my debit card information for my down payment. The next day, she sent me an email saying the information did not work, so I repeated the same debit card number directly from the card. I also gave her my checking account routing number and account number. Approximately a week later, I tried to use my debit card to pay my bills, but my debit card had been disabled for possible fraud due to the fact that Mary submitted my payment through an agency outside of the USA. This caused me delays in paying my monthly bills. I had to physically go to my credit union to be issued a new debit card. That caused delays in paying my obligations and late penalty fees. I am not happy with the agent's actions and procedures when she was not efficient in doing things correctly after being given correct information twice.

Once you're a client, they don't give you any incentive for being a loyal customer.

I have enrolled with a different insurance company since Geico allowed my policy to lapse with their poor customer service.

One day it's 88 bucks, next week it's 97 bucks, another week it's 111 bucks, and last week to pay the bill it goes to 127 bucks. Crazy.

It is frustrating in some areas and good in others. I had a claim, and that was handled well. However, I was supposed to fill out a questionnaire and send a lot of documents that I have never had to send with other insurance carriers. The problem is the questionnaire was never sent to me. As a result of not filling out the questionnaire, I never received it, and my policy was canceled. I requested the questionnaire twice via email, as that was the only way to get it, and I never received a response.

Insurance isn’t a legal scam, it’s all about making money. Every renewal they charge you more, it doesn’t matter that you have no claims or points on your license. It’s sad that you are not able to trust your insurance company to do the right thing for their customers.

They are a good company but don't abide by state rules on mileage discounts and keep the price high. I could get all the discounts with other companies. Geico gives me none. I've been driving for over 70 years and have never had a ticket, accident, or any DUIs—I don't drink. I was also a driving teacher for many years. But I still get no discounts that I'm supposed to get.

Don't use Geico. They assured me that my rate would not change when my car was vandalized, but my rate went up $100. They assured me they would not pay the fraud claim from another driver. Instead, they not only paid the claim, labeled the incident my fault, and again raised my rates. The only thing keeping me with them is that I can't find another agency that will cover my Hyundai with the same coverage for less than what I'm paying now.

Normally, when you are financing a car, you're supposed to have full coverage. Apparently, I didn’t, and my catalytic converter was stolen off my car. I didn’t know I didn’t have comprehensive coverage, so now I have to pay out of pocket. I'm still financing my car.

Don't use the tracker app as it is wildly inaccurate. Don't expect a discount for loyalty. Customer service is less than helpful.

I was with GEICO for seven years and kept requesting a review of my policy because the premium kept going up. I was told that insurance was going up everywhere because of the economy, not because I had a claim. I found better insurance at more than $100 a month off of what I was currently paying.

Stay away from them. I hit a raccoon and it took 6 months to get fixed. They made the body shop take the whole front end off the car to show parts the body shop said needed repair, and then it was an additional 3 months. The car could not be driven the entire summer, but Geico didn't care that you had no car to drive. They had no claims adjusters of their own. They lowball every claim and then make it miserable to wait for approval.

Geico raised my auto insurance by $600 for 2026, so I canceled my policy effective 1/20/2026.

They charge way too much and always threaten to cancel my policy if my payment is a day late.

I drive very little. I'm 75 and I'm paying $100 a month for insurance, which is ridiculous. I have talked to them, and they're not willing to adjust the rate. Each year, it just goes up and up.

I have been with Geico for over twenty-eight years. They are overcharging me and raising my rates without notice. They have become too expensive for my budget.

Geico will raise your rate to 5 times anybody else rather than just cancel you. I saved 80% switching to Allstate with exactly the same coverage and deductible. Geico now joins with Allstate as my two "never again" companies. 20+ years with both and both tried to run me into poverty at the end.

Even though their voice announcement system when you call them indicates that a live representative will come on the line shortly, that rarely, if ever, occurs. Furthermore, they regularly charge at least double what the Texas Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority specifies is allowable to reimburse themselves for the fee that they pay to them.

Find out if the car insurance you get is not going to inflate after one year.

I recently switched to Progressive. GEICO continuously raised their prices for no reason at all. I was with them for five years, and each year we got bumped up in price. It’s very subtle, 2 to 3 dollars every six months. I think they’re making free money on those not keeping track. That’s sneaky, and I don’t appreciate that kind of business.

I got Geico, and in the first month, my rate changed three times: from $84 at the first quote, to $126 for the first payment, and then they tried charging me $270, all in a month's time. If they quoted it at $84, how does it go to $270?

It's very expensive compared to the market in Florida now, given that it has been in the garage for six months as I am only here for the winter. Considering the fact that I barely drive it, maybe five miles a week, I think you should revise my policy in light of all this.

I've been a long-term customer, but my premium keeps rising.

I would not recommend this company to my friends. My rates were increased with no explanation. I drive 20 miles, 5 days a week, and have no tickets of any type. I reapplied online and was quoted a rate that was $75 cheaper than what they are currently charging me! I'm retired and on a fixed income. Seniors are being taken advantage of due to age. I am 75 years old, but I'm not just sitting in a rocking chair. I'm at the gym daily, doing weight-bearing exercises and walking/running 2 miles each day. I teach a class on how to navigate the medical system when your family is hospitalized with no insurance and how to apply for SSI or disability. I'm not mentally challenged in any way. There's no reason for my rates to be increased arbitrarily!

They added $5 and $15 charges after we prepaid the 6-month policy fee.

After we prepaid for 6 months, Geico kept adding small charges like $6 here and $15 there, which we were not informed about. Our agent told us to call GEICO, so we're not going to renew with Geico when our policy expires on March 6th.

Find a good place and change companies to who fits you best. Geico was super expensive.

Rates are too high; they shouldn't be.

Geico is frustratingly expensive. I went from paying $278 a month for one car and one driver. I had one wreck in my company truck with a trailer in April. In October, I called them to check the price of adding a driver, only to find out my insurance was going up to $777 a month. They wouldn’t change it even after I paid for my driving record, which didn’t match the information they had. I told them from the start that the info wasn’t correct. They had two wrecks on the same day along with two tickets for racing and unverified speed! They didn’t care when I spoke with them.

Geico had the best rates of the major insurers by a little bit.

I would say, "Look elsewhere, too expensive." I don't even go through an agent and am still paying $87 a month for 2 older vehicles (2001 Buick and a rusted, falling apart 2005 Dodge Ram).

They removed my 20 percent discount after many years of safe driving, no accidents, and no DUIs. Every year they raised the cost of my insurance. I am not very happy.
