They didn’t accept the money order. A lady from Allstate told me to get somebody to pay it with their card, and I could give them the money order. I didn’t receive notifications when my policy lapsed. I had my policy on auto-pay through a credit card. The card expired, and I didn’t know until I checked my credit card website to pay the bill. If the agency had been open the day I caught it, I could have saved my policy. The woman I spoke to was very rude. Moral of the story: no auto-pay for me. I’ll stick to the good old days and speak to a human. GEICO was a better and cheaper company than Allstate; I should have never switched. I realize it was my fault for the lapse, but I am 46 years old, and it was the first time I ever let a policy lapse. I work 12-16 hour days, and my kids are in all sorts of sports, so I am busy on my days off. Notifications help. Allstate isn’t very good with reminders. I paid more with Allstate than with GEICO, but at least GEICO sends a reminder via text when your policy is due and when it will be taken out.
