I had one claim in over 35 years. Now they have sent a notice of non-renewal. They and other companies are looking for any reason to drop you. I am sure in Florida it has to do with storm damage, though I've never experienced it in my part of Florida. They share their information with each other. Now I have been told no company will issue me a policy, all because of cars parked in the backyard and having a dual roof, half pitched and the other flat.

I think my liability is too high. I have very low mileage on my SUV, no accidents, no tickets, no DWIs.

Allstate, as far as I’m concerned, is a wonderful insurance company. However, why are my premiums higher than the average individual outside of my area? Why do I have higher premiums when I haven’t made a claim? I started off saying they are a wonderful insurance company, but then again, I have never made a claim with them (house or car), so hopefully, I never run into a problem if I do make a claim.

Don't use them. Every year my policy goes up at least $200, and they say it's because my area has a lot of accidents. It was the same way with my homeowner policy. Insurance used to be that if you had no accidents or claims, the amount you paid would go down. I believe the agents are overcharging people. As soon as I find another car insurance policy, I will be leaving them, just like my homeowner policy. I didn't renew it and saved $600 a year with my new policy for the same coverage. My deductible is only $1,000, whereas at Allstate it was $5,000.

Poor coverage. They covered $5,000 out of $42,000 for the foundation (not my fault). They were willing to insure me, but when I used it (I was at fault), they didn't offer me important coverage. When I needed coverage, it was not included in the policy.

It seems like at Allstate, as with many insurance companies, they raise the rates every year even if you don’t have any issues. State Farm is 40% cheaper.

Allstate was too expensive for my family.

Too expensive. After the last tornado, I got half a roof replaced while 6 of my neighbors had their entire roofs replaced.

The underwriting staff is not adequately trained. They cannot be challenged on any issue. This is wrong as they, by their own definition, are not experts on any topic. Our underwriter for our home policy was requiring us to affirm the manufacturing company's product standards and warranty. She was also insisting that upgraded roof shingles were a different product from what was originally placed on the roof. After over 20 years, common sense dictates that a product will have some changes. One would also expect the product to be enhanced but still a shingle. Our agent was great. She offered to go above and beyond on several issues.

My monthly rate went up over $100.00 after my first six months. I called them, and it was because of police activity in my area.

Nightmare! 11 months after joining Allstate, I was pulled over by the police who said I had no insurance for 11 months! Almost $200 in fees, and no offer to pay by Allstate!

I have liability insurance, and considering the age of my vehicles, I think I’m paying too much for the amount of liability coverage I have.

They told me I would save money because I drive less than 50 miles per day. However, checking my last 6 months' payment, it cost me more than $1600. Checking with Progressive, it will cost just around $600 for 6 months' coverage.

I've noticed that my rate goes up every month on my policy, and I have to call to find out why. The quote you're given is not fixed for the duration of your policy.

The big negative is related to a possible roof damage claim, not so much that they did not pay anything at all, but the rudeness and discourtesy of the final adjuster who handled the claim. He was downright disrespectful toward me, and I was insulted by his manner. I switched from another company due to their slapping me with a $2000 increase for auto coverage on last year's renewal with no claims or violations, stating that they were allowed to do that due to my age. I hated to part ways but was not going to accept the increase. As for vehicle insurance, Allstate has filled that need.

Claims have been very poor. A recent claim had a 30-day car rental, but it took almost 25 days before the car was taken to the repair shop. I had to constantly call for updates on the claim. The car was in another state, and they lost the license plate. Three months after the accident, I'm still having to pursue reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses and the deductible. For the cost of the insurance, I would expect better service.

I've been with Allstate for years, and they canceled my auto insurance after not informing me that my bill went up an extra forty bucks. They never lower your rate; it only continues to get higher. Very disappointed in their service.

They did not subrogate when I was t-boned by a driver without insurance, but the registered owner was insured. However, the registered owner claimed they sold the car to the driver, but the driver never legally changed the title to their name. I would have hoped that Allstate would fight for their client and not accept that the auto was sold to the driver. The owner should have been responsible since they did not get the title out of their name.

I've been with Allstate for home and auto insurance for the past several years. I'm totally disgusted by their constant rate hikes.
