I just received a notice a week or so ago that our auto insurance will increase in cost when it renews, and it would be more than $400 more per year. I really don't know how they are since I've only been with them for a month. I was with Liberty Mutual and it got switched to Safeco. I was paying $63 and now my first payment was $95. Because of the price increase, I'm not happy. So now I'm shopping for lower insurance.

My advice would be not to use this company. They caused my bank account to go into the negative by withdrawing money when they weren't supposed to. I am now consulting with my attorney to recover the money that was taken out of my account without my consent.

They didn't renew my policy due to tree limbs overhanging my house from a tree that no longer exists. The day after I received the cancellation notice, I got an email from Liberty Mutual inviting me to return. Liberty Mutual is the parent company of Safeco.

Find another company. After the first year, they quadruple the rates, even though there were no accidents, tickets, or any reason for the increase.

Great! Until they raised my premium way too high. That's why I'm looking for other options. If it's true, it kind of upsets me that I was overpaying by thousands of dollars.

It seems to always be about the bottom line, and we are being priced out of our homes and cars due to insurance alone. As for bundled policies, they feel like entrapment because we are unable to negotiate with other carriers where we might get a better deal.

They canceled my homeowners insurance simply because they don't want to do business in CA. It was a horrible experience.

I live in the Sacramento Valley, and there are wildfires about 100 miles north of Sacramento. Because I have been asked for an assessment of my roof that was replaced with a new 50-year asbestos shingle roof about 20 years ago, I am assuming that Safeco is preparing to stop insuring in California.
