Erie Insurance is a great company. I am extremely happy with their service and recommend them frequently. Like everyone else, I always look for ways to save money while getting the best possible service. Auto and home insurance costs keep rising even without a claim. I am currently working with my agency, Summit Agency, here in Tennessee to see if rates can be improved. I really do like this group.

Erie Insurance has been great to me. It even covers me when I'm driving someone else's car, and it costs less (at least $10 less per month).

I am disappointed as I have been with Erie Insurance for many years without any claims. Last August, we were the victims of a hit and run (not our fault) and 'keying' of the car. Erie stated they had to file two claims even though the damage occurred simultaneously. They did repair my car. However, as a result, they increased my insurance payment by more than $100.00 per month because I had a claim! I believe this is unfair treatment. My monthly payment is now too high for my income/budget. Consequently, I am comparing auto insurance fees. I am still in search of more reasonable insurance fees/rates with reliable service.

Erie was great when I first purchased my policy a few years ago. Since then, my rates have increased significantly. I had full coverage 100/300 liability with 100k in property damage, $500 deductible, $0 full glass coverage rental, and roadside for just over $800. This was great at the time compared to every other company I quoted. Then, Erie increased my rate to $1256 even though I’ve had no losses, no tickets, improved credit, and an excellent payment history, paying in full. When I compared rates with other companies, I found a reputable company who offered me 300/500k liability with 100k property, $500 deductible, $0 full glass, just like Erie, etc. I went from paying Erie $1256 per year to this new company $656 per year. That's almost a 50% savings while increasing my liability coverage at the same time. If Erie offers you a good rate, I highly recommend them. They’re a great company with a proven track record, but make sure you get quotes from others as well.

In my opinion, Erie is overly expensive as far as coverage goes. However, they did fully cover me when I had an accident. The deductible was deducted from the check I received to replace my totaled vehicle, leaving me with hardly anything to buy my next car. I found this unfair on Erie's part. Their justification was that I had to pay a new deductible with each incident. I don't agree with this. I believe you should only have to pay one deductible a year. Erie seems to bend their rules, which I don't appreciate.

To be very honest, when I first switched to Erie Insurance Company, it was pretty good. However, after being with Erie for the past few years, I've noticed they're just like all the other insurance companies. They entice you to switch, and then every year your car insurance goes up by $100. These car insurance companies seem like big rip-offs. I didn't pay these kinds of insurance rates when I was a teenager. Now, in my mid 60s, I'm paying a higher rate. What a rip-off!

I have been with Erie since 1987 and the premiums that Chester Pendergrass Jr. and I have received over the years are ridiculous. We have had no accidents, yet we are considering other insurance options. We are never late with our payments and pay once a year, the same with my homeowner's insurance. After Myra left, the person who took her place could not explain the significant increase in our premiums. We have been loyal customers for a long time.

I never received a notification that my policy was about to be canceled. I had paid 90% of my quarterly insurance bill and needed an extra week to pay the rest, which was less than $200. Unfortunately, life happened and I forgot to send in the payment. They never sent any notification, no letter, email, or phone call to let me know that my policy was about to be canceled. When I realized that I had forgotten to pay, it was a Saturday and no one would be in the office until the following Monday. I went on the website and paid what I owed immediately, but my policy was still canceled and I had no insurance for an unknown period of time. I admit that I made a mistake by not remembering to pay on time, but I had paid the majority of my bill. The least they could have done was call or email and try to get ahold of me so I could give them what I owed.

They gave me a quote and had me cancel my insurance with another agency. I signed papers for insurance, only to receive a call back two weeks later. They informed me that their underwriter did not approve me with Erie and that I needed to find insurance within 24 hours because this policy would be cancelled. This call came late in the afternoon. The next day, I spoke with a representative named Candy who told me that I couldn't speak to the underwriter. However, she claimed she had spoken to them and found out that I had a cellphone violation from 2015, which was a significant issue and the reason for my denial. Now, I have a lapse in insurance because I can't find an affordable insurance agency at the moment. I'm still looking. I would not recommend doing business with these people.
